  1. Yeah...I was there...we happened to lose Nomar that day too. :( :( Yeah, so was I. Good thing Dusty wont have the option of bringing in LaTroy with the tying run at the plate like he did that night. Bush was just big enough to hold that ball. As I recall, Corey caught Mabry's long fly right against the wall to end the game. I almost had a heart attack :x
  2. She's not a fan? If I were going on a date tonight he would know to make sure there's a television around. Perhaps a resturant with a sportsbar/entertainment vibe like Dave & Buster's or ESPN Zone is in order? Just a thought. I can tell you from experience that watching the game on the TV instead of paying attention to the lady friend is a bad move. Yes, in most cases that's true but if both people enjoy the sport it can be a fun date.

  4. I like Bruce's article too but I'm going to go against the grain here because I do not like Jon Miller (much less Joe Morgan). I've lost a lot of respect for Miller because he seems to defer to Morgan's "expertise" too much for my taste. Plus, the only reason he is on that network is because of his connection as the voice of the Giants and obvious link to Bonds.
  5. He'll need to because Carpenter shut us out the last time we faced him... He's been virtually unhittable lately.
  6. In related news, Aramis Ramirez is hitting a lot of home runs for the Chicago Cubs. Oh, that's evil but I was actually thinking about posting something similar... I thought better of it however.
  7. Thanks! I didnt think about the copyright limitations. Oh well, the jokes over because I see they edited the article too. LOL
  8. Well, this article seems to think so:  http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050721&content_id=1139503&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Edited by Mod for copyrighted content.
  9. You had me at Corey but I started to laugh at Harkey---I haven't seen that name in quite some time...
  10. I realize we have a rivalry with STL but you can make the same comparisons with that team and others in the league. As far as your question is concerned, we'll see how the weekend shapes up.
  11. We need relief help by the trading deadline. Not Dunn. A good bullpen would have saved the game. We need a LF'er. Murton is hitting well, but Dusty refuses to play him against righties. Holly is below average. Same with Gerut. In my eyes LF is a want. This team can score more than 4 runs a game which should be enough to yield a win on most days. The priority should be in stabilizing middle relief. If our pitchers can't go 7 we're most likely in big trouble.

  13. One game?!!?! You think this is the only time this had happened? Have you even watched the Cubs this year? Its the same thing over and over again. Its OK to be optimisitc, but to be so naive and think we are magically going to solve all of our massive holes is silly and then come on the board and criticize people for being negative is wrong. Yes, I realize that you didnt directly criticize anyone, but it was definately intended. I am neither overly optimistic nor niave just not ready to jump off a bridge. The key to this team is its starting pitching. When they dont go deep we have a tough time winning. You can only know that by watching all of the games.

  15. why does someone always come and complain about the guys (and gals) here being upset after a devasting loss? Its just flat-out annoying. When you are barely .500, you cant lose these types of games. This game isnt over and I've been here all day didnt just come in... I dont care. Just take the "come (in)" out of what I said. Because its just one game and I refuse to act like the season is over. We knew our bullpen was bad before the game started the only difference today (and yesterday) is that the starter left early.

  17. I see widespread panic and hysteria have reached the board.
  18. It was in the same vain considering the circumstances. Of course, Sammy was always diving around the field so I'm not sure how much of that was necessary in his case but JHJ was digging to reach the ball then lunged and caught it before it hit the ground. Beautiful!
  19. BIG strikeout of Dunn. Novoa looks good so far.
  20. Starting pitching is the key. When our starters go deep we dont expose our bullpen weakness. Big out at the plate!
  21. Double play. Barrett should have come home on Ronny's ball.
