  1. I disagree. To say I have "zero" idea is to make an excuse for what we saw. I'm not the only person here who saw it and immediately thought (and posted) what they saw. Miller and Morgan also mentioned it, on air, so I know it will come up again and Dusty's excuse looked so transparent.. I love the team and the guy but I'm not going to make excuses for him. Zambrano has proven that he's capable of actions like this.
  2. I agree. It's not like Z would be the type to leave the mound and say "hey coach, my back hurts and I don't think I can go any more." He's a firey guy who'd most likely get pissed off at himself and do what he did. Maybe the "throat slash" just meant "I'm finished." Like others have said, those 80 pitches in only 3 innings are tough on a guy. no one makes a big deal if a pitcher says to the coach that he is done. In fact there was a big story last year about how dusty pretty much lets maddux decide when he's done. Just cause Z chose a poor way to let larry know doesn't mean he quit on his team. He didn't have it tonight, threw alot of pitches for 3 innings, may have had a tight back or bad toe, and packed it in....I don't see it as a revolt against dusty or quitting on the team...everything doesn't have to be such a drama scene... Maddux is an older pitcher and in a different class. Under normal circumstances you have to pry the ball out of Carlos' hand; I can remember specific games this year when he was actually hurt and they had to force him out of the game... He, alone, doesn't get to dictate when he pitches. I can see a pitcher conversing with the pitching coach and the two of them deciding he's had enough but it was very apparent by what I saw that Larry was both surprised and unhappy. Carlos didnt even want to talk to him. He walked off. I'm disappointed. Losing is one thing but openly giving up is another.
  3. Happy? This is the kind of this a guy gets shipped out of town for... You win and lose as a team. Bush league Now Dusty's making excuses for Zambrano (now I know he left on his own). "His back is hurting him." BS!!! Actually, Dusty's apologizing for his players has come back to bite him in the arse. Sometimes players have to be accountable. Well, I'm sure he'll address it after the game. Do you really expect the manager to bust the guy out on TV after he's left the game? I wouldn't... I can see a manager pulling someone out of agame to make a not so silent point but saying Zambrano quit on the team infront of a national audience doesn't make much sense. What should Dusty have done? I think under the circumstances he handled it well. To be honest, ESPN tried to bait Baker by asking that question... Did you notice the ackward silence after Dusty's answer? They were sure if they should challenge him. Thankfully, they left it alone.
  4. it's most likely they took Z out of the game. THose were some grueling innings. Sometimes 80 pitches isn't just 80 pitches. They did not take him out. Did you see him give Rothschild the done sign? Larry looked at him incredulously as Zambrano stompped to the clubhouse! He left on his own and as he was walkig away, Larry went to tell Dusty. BS!!!! I've just lost a lot of respect for Carlos. you never know. they might have told him they were taking him out. i'm sure we'll know for sure tomorrow morning. They didn't tell him that! My goodness, the camera showed him motioning he was done as he was walking into the the dugout. Rothschild went to talk to him for encouragement (as all pitching coaches do) and Carlos said "no" or something to that effect then walked into the clubhouse. You can tell by Larry's face that he was upset with Zambrano. I'm sure they expected him to go at least one more inning if not 2.. The Cubs don't have a day off until the 18th. Zambrano stomped off. It was very apparent. innocent until proven guilty. unless, of course, we're talking about taking sterroids. Innocent? Ha! I love(d) Z but the camera didn't lie After listening to Dusty come up with a mystery illness/ache for Carlos it only solidifies the issue. I think he meant to say it was his toe and not his "back." Comical. Z walked out on the team. It was so apparent the terrible ESPN guys caught it.

  7. Amen I don't believe Carlos thinks ahead... He got PO'd and left.

  9. Give a break, we can't blame Baker for everything. Zambrano losing his temper and refusing to go back out is his own problem. Aramis committed a huge error which lead to 2 runs then Carlos' own lack of control coupled with poor defense behind him lead to 2 additional runs. Good pitchers are able to get out of jams despite the defense. The papers are going to BLAST Zambrnao for this. Credit ESPN's camera's for being Johnny on the spot!
  10. I'd make his butt go right back out there. Zambrano doesn't dictate crap! That's a Pippen move.
  11. WTF? Did Carlos just quit on us? That's BS!
  12. I wouldnt go so far as to say Lawton's defensive lapse is due to Dusty. Lawton has never been a good defensive player. The Cubs knew what they were getting into when they picked him up.
  13. We need Corey back in center! They should just hide him low in the order. Macias in center is terrible and Lawton isn't going anywhere for the rest of the season (we can't have 2 out of 3 bad outfield arms).
  14. OMG, this is embarrassing. Come on Carlos, regain your composure.
  15. Carlos at 49 pitches. He's going to need some quick innings or the bullpen will have a chance to give up more...
  16. Holla stinks. How about working the count on a guy who's all over the place???
  17. Dempster isnt nearly as funny when we're losing. Let's score here!
  18. "infamous black cat incident" Why does Fox continue to torture us?
  19. I disagree. The Indians aren't even dealing with Dubois now on their Big club. At least Lawton is ML ready.
  20. Macias with a good 9 pitch AB leads to the single
