  1. I hope Hendry trades him. Agreed but does that mean Hairston is our everyday second baseman next year? I was being sarcastic. It would be a waste of resources for the Cubs to trade him and make another hole on the team. Hairston isn't healthy enough to play everyday. I dont know... Walker has a great bat but his defense (along with Nomar and Aramis) is shaky at best. He also has limited range. If the Cubs have the opportunity to get a more defensive oriented infield (at short and second) then I think they should move in that direction. This team has to improve defensively. Improving IF defense is all well and good, but the offense is easily the biggest weakness of this team. Walker brings more to this team in his offense than he takes away with his defense - trading him away and creating another hole would be counter-intuitive. Only 4 more solo HRs to tie the game, guys! I'm not so certain that Walker's offense has outweighed his lack of defensive prowess especially when you consider he was disabled for part of the season. The Cubs need to strengthen their infield defense; they are near the bottom in DP's and high on the list of errors. All that results in extra outs and extra pitches. Having said that, I agree that the team lacks offense therefore, it behooves Hendry to find a legitimate LF (and possibly a new RF if Burny doesn't return). I'd much rather have a less powerful infield if they are steady defensively.
  2. I disagree, this season notwithstanding, he has some value and the Cubs should try to get something for him. Afterall, he's a decent utility player and a career .304 pinch hitter. They might as well showcase him... Holla's measly 900K salary is a decent indicator of how MLB general managers valued his talents in the offseason, and that was after he put up some excellent numbers filling in for Sosa in 2004. By now his stock must be much lower. I'd estimate he's a 500K scrub now in the eyes of MLB GM's. No one is going to get excited about him. The salary of a utility player isn't necessarily an indicator of his real worth to a team. I stand by my belief that Hollandsworth has value and that some team(s) would like to have him. Burnitz hits another homer 8-4
  3. And Williams and his 3 BBs in 1.2 IP. Oh I didn't forget Williams pathetic showing. I just think it's worse for relievers to walk batters.

  5. Wuertz is another walk machine... I hate to see any combination of Wellemeyer and Wuertz.

  8. Neifi singles reaches second on a fielding error he's 2 for 2
  9. Nomar says he's only played 3B in high school. He should be fine, you don't need as much range to play third.
  10. Not if Nefti Perez and/or Jose Macias get the majority of PT while ARam and Nomar are out. Nomar will play 3rd
  11. This game worries me. I've seen Sosa pitch and even though he allows a lot of hits he always seems to get out of trouble (hence the 2.63 ERA). Today's win is not a given. Prior will need to pitch well.
  12. Are you kidding? I was happy, I'm glad the Sox lost.
  13. Considering Girardi is already bench coaching in the Majors, for the Yankees, I doubt he would accept a position in the system somewhere outside of the Major Leagues; That sounds to me like a regression on the career path ladder.
  14. Neifi gets the 4 pitch walk Kim gets the hook
  15. Whew, Neifi gets the out at first. Mark looked a little gun shy there
  16. Sure do. It was an 18 pitch fiasco. A total backbreaker homer...
