  1. Good start for the Giants. Maybe we won't be 6 back by the end of the evening...
  2. Hmmm, I think you're right. I think that was lost here. I knew there was inflammation.
  3. That's one way to think about it but I think he's a gamer. He decided to forgo his ego and pitch out of the 'pen when he could have asked to be shut down. 'gamer' my... go get 'em Murton... Wood is injury prone but how can you argue that he wants to be hurt or doesnt want to pitch? The guy's heart can't be measured by physical limitations. I'm sure he'd love to make 30+ starts a year. if Wood was a true 'gamer', he'd pitch through real pain. this "twinge in my shoulder/ elbow/ back/" is laughable. it's one thing for a young pitcher to think about his future when the big payday is far off. quite another for K-Woody, when he's being paid far more than he's worth, and will EVER make again. my point is that there is no reason for Wood to keep shutting himself down because of a "twinge". you're being paid to pitch. take the ball, and suck it up son... He's had a cortisone shot this year. You don't get that unless you are in extreme pain... That's the problem, I think Kerry has been pitching (quietly) through pain for years. The same can be said this year; When you look back to his last start in Cincy, Rothschild and the trainer were tipped off by his change in velocity (they knew something was wrong) but when they visited him at the mound he didnt want to admit to the problem... He would have at the least, completed the inning but they correctly took him out instead of risking further damage. Even Steve Stone, one of his most ardent critics, says that Kerry is a tough guy who wants to pitch Cortisone is is an anti-inflamatory drug. nothing more, nothing less. the use of Cortisone has less than nothing to do with Wood being a 'Gamer' or 'playing thru pain'... what speaks volumes to this sito is the fact that multiple MRI's have turned up NOTHING wrong with Wood's shoulder. hence the move to the pen, and Hendry's obvious warning by said move... IMHO, of course... Obviously, you didnt follow the reports, the shot of cortisone was accompanied by a numbing agent to mask the pain. They shut him down in the days immediately following the shot so that it would wear off before his next pitching assignment...He will also have off season surgery. An MRI doesn't reveal every problem but then again, you knew that... try using your analogy as a reason why YOU or I can't go to work tomorrow, then you may see my point... peace... I can't speak for you but I don't earn my living pitching (or doing any other physically demanding task). However, there are plenty of everyday people who are too injured to work which is why there's Workmen Compensation (but I digress) Welcome to 4th place...
  4. Did anyone see this? http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050805&content_id=1159003&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  5. In other news, unless the Phillies rally, the Cubs will be looking up at the Brewers. MIL scored 2 in the top of the 10th

  7. This game would have been a lot more interesting if Glendon could have held them down. Overall, the bullpen looked good. Burnitz looks really bad at the plate...
  8. Even though it wasn't a save opportunity, I like that Dempster was able to wiggle off the hook without them scoring.
  9. Game going to extras in Philly 1-1

  11. What's awful is Walker's bat in the second half.
  12. Williamson = Cubs future setup guy. Only question is can he pitch back to back days.
  13. Reyes out runs Willamson. Not much he could do there
  14. I like Willamson's funky leg motion Hmmm, he looks good out there.

  16. Looks like Abreu is getting hot again. Things are tied up in Philly

  18. where was that pitch? I think that was called earlier
  19. Kerry looks sharp  Let's try not to walk them here Wood
  20. Talk about baptism by fire. Not making it any better by delivering 2 balls to Cliff Floyd. To his credit, he got Floyd to pop out to Aramis.
