  1. Nothing higher than 6th in the lineup please. I'd put the chances of him leading off at about 99%. Under the Dusty rule of CF=Leadoff, perhaps. But I'm not sure Lou works that way, nor does he want to put a young guy in that situation. I'm not so sure. I hope you're right. If Theriot plays, my guess it he'll lead off, but if he doesn't, I wouldn't be shocked to see Pie there. I agree with all of that, but man I'd rather have Pie hitting 7th.
  2. What are you basing this on? You actually have a quote of Hendry claiming this? see my post above
  3. I don't know about that favorite tag. Floyd was signed as a platoon/role player. JJ was reportedly on the trading block all offseason. And while I think Hendry was legitimately proud of acquiring a former gold glover and All Star for Maddux, I doubt he'll flip if Lou benches him. And I don't think Lou cares what Hendry thinks. Lou is the only one of the two with any longterm hold on his job. A new owner is going to can Hendry unless this team goes very far this year. I don't know - Hendry's been chasing Floyd since, well, Floyd's entire career. JJ was one of the first guys brought in after the "catch the ball" comment and I thought JH made a big deal about expecting JJ to do great things here (and there may have been trade rumors, but the guy is still here - if he really wanted him gone, I'm sure he could have found someone to take him). And he seems pretty high on Izturis too. They may not be favorites over guys Lee or Aram, but they are guys he specifically targeted, not guys he settled on b/c he couldn't get another player. That was my point. I agree with Lou not necessarily caring about JH's thoughts on playing time. Though I haven't been really impressed with Lou's division of playing time so far either.
  4. I agree with all of this, though DeRosa has been playing pretty well. which is the problem. i like derosa, too. If it really bothers you, then Theriot should start at SS. If we're talking fantasy land of ideal lineups with the current team - I'd be all for that. But is Lou really benching or getting rid of Floyd, JJ, and Izturis? Those are some of JH's "biggest" or at least, favorite, acquisitions.
  5. I agree with all of this, though DeRosa has been playing pretty well. which is the problem. i like derosa, too. I would like to see Theriot and Murton hitting 1/2, which is probably a pipe dream since Soriano appears stuck in the top spot. DeRosa could also be a supersub, giving off days to Pie, Murton, Theriot, and ARam. All of this assumes JJ and Floyd don't get the bulk of the playing time when Soriano returns.

  7. I don't think the Yankees would give up much (anything?) for him. If he's not good enough to hold the 5th spot in an NLC rotation, he's going to get destroyed in the ALE. But if we can't trade him for anything, I'd DFA him if he refuses to go to the pen. Give Guzman a chance!
  8. No. But the Rays have. The Yankees have given up 52 in 11 games.
  9. When you see "brain aneurysm" - hammy sprain doesn't sound that bad.
  10. Just checked in to see Soriano pulled early. Can someone fill me in?
  11. Just curious Mordecai, why baseball? Why not close all govenment offices? Or the stock market? How about closing all colleges for a day?Wouldn't you just be encouraging the nuts? I don't think people who go on shooting rampages give a hoot about MLB's response. That said, I don't see any reason to cancel the games. A moment of silence is a good suggestion, imo.
  12. I agree it's a tragedy, but I still care about baseball today. And I'm quite certain I'm in my right mind. I understand if you have strong feelings about this, but I don't think it means everyone has to share your feelings.
  13. If you're talking the Va Tech shootings - I agree with Tim. I don't see any reason to cancel the games. It's a tragedy for sure, but I guess I don't see a connection.
  14. For those not in front of the TV, what happened? If he tipped it and Barrett caught it, what as the fuss about? Lilly threw an inside pitch to Encarnacion which got him off the plate. The pitch grazed off the knob of his bat or his hand and went into Bare's glove. The ump called it a foul tip strike three and Encarnacion went ballistic, yet somehow managed not to get tossed. thanks

  16. Yeah he's averaging nearly 20 pitches per inning. Not good.
  17. Oh chill out. He was probably told to pitch carefully and he did. What in that post makes you think Chris isn't chilled?
  18. How long before we realize that JJ is not a 3-hitter? And by "we" I mean "Lou." Cripes.
  19. I believe the whole dodger team is. I'm not sure but I thought I heard the whole Astro team is to. The entire Cards team was at least considering it.
  20. Hah! I didn't even think about what his initials were... TT's a big Total Request Live, fan
  21. He initiated the #42 thing. Jackie's watching out for him today. He's going 4/4. Nothing we can do about it - best to just hope they're all singles.
  22. But Soriano was our big offseason acquisition and is supposed to be setting the table. I'd like to see more patience out of Barrett too, but Soriano is starting to really aggravate me. Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. I'm getting pretty annoyed by the fact that it seems like he starts out every count at 0-2. But Barrett has had his fair share of pretty bad ABs as well. sounds like we're in agreement then.
  23. I generally agree, but it looked (from Gameday, anyway) like that first one was right down the middle. Can't argue with hacking at a "get me over" pitch following a walk. That said, it's Kyle Loshe. A little patience would probably pay off.
