  1. dramatic overreaction aside, I agree. he already skipped or delayed his mission. i think he considers graduation an honor that he owes his parents. i suppose he could graduate in 3 years; i don't know what kind of workload he's been carrying. but i highly doubt it.
  2. MANTI IS NOT LEAVING EARLY. [but if he does he [expletive] better be drafted by the bears]
  3. Manti would never do that to me. Curse you for even thinking such a thing.
  4. We'll see about that. ;) I think the Packers and Bears are going to be good for a long time. This rivalry is about to get super intense, moreso than usual. meh - we'll both be looking up at the Lions with their defensive line and most especially the Vikings with Ponder. I am all for making fun of the Vikings and Ponder. However, the Lions I think are a legit concern moving forward. I like the Lions a lot more when Millen was running the show.
  5. peyton hillis is a hick
  6. jesus. Jimmy Clausen is God. prove me wrong. he looks more like an ostrich, i'd say. The Chosen One will return as a flightless bird. Revelations 2:15.
  7. They have a legit shot to win the NFC North next year. They're not the favorites, but if Stafford can stay healthy they're good enough to win it. Not if christian ponder has anything to say about it. oh wait, he doesn't.

  9. I believe your opinion of Clausen should remain consistent with what you thought of him before last season. It's overreaction to honestly have no opinion on him and, after his rookie year, deciding he has no NFL talent whatsoever. It either shows that you place no value on collegiate performances or you place too much importance on one season of production (or lack thereof). By your line of thinking, we should write off Cashner as a mediocre MLB pitcher at best. no, because cashner has flashes of brilliance against high professional competition. clausen has not. with quarterbacks who are going to be good, you can see their talent early on. clausen is plodding, his footwork is bad, his release his slow, his arm isn't strong enough, and his decision-making is hard to evaluate because his accuracy is so bad, you're not even sure who he's trying to throw the ball to most of the time. hey todd mcshay, you sound ridiculous.
  10. whenever andy schefter appears on my screen, i want to hit the tv with a frying pan.
  11. come on, sulley. you know i wasn't asking for the exact number of minutes you watched. i'd just be surprised if anyone that's not a carolina fan or a member of clausen family could say they watched a significant amount of his nfl snaps. you say you have. so you're the 1.
  12. he'll be in jail by the time they play the bears
  13. it's not a strategy. it's not really Carolina's choice.
  14. or they think newton is going to sell tickets, or they're not an organization that should be respected b/c they're [expletive] terrible at this. how much carolina football did you watch (note: I watched very little, but I watched every snap of Clausen's cfb career and thought he was best served going somewhere that would give him a chance to develop for a few years behind a decent QB - he definitely needed to get bigger and stronger to handle the NFL). come on, in this world of fantasy football and sunday ticket and drinking heavily on sundays at sports bars, everyone watches everyone nowadays. i saw plenty of clausen, although i wish i hadn't. it was an honest question. It wasn't a Joe Morgan "i watch the games" statement. I just wanted some frame of reference b/c I couldn't think of any reason anyone but andy would have watched any Panther games (unless the opponent was your favorite team). I think you're just blowing smoke, but whatever. there's no reason to ruin this thread for everyone else.
  15. love love LOVE that pick for the Vikes. hahahaha
  16. oh, i'm not saying that they should have panicked and went with newton over a more talented player on the defensive side of the ball. i'm just saying that they will never be good as long as clausen is starting for them. I agree but that's b/c I don't think the panthers will be good any time in the next decade no matter who is QB.
  17. or they think newton is going to sell tickets, or they're not an organization that should be respected b/c they're [expletive] terrible at this. how much carolina football did you watch (note: I watched very little, but I watched every snap of Clausen's cfb career and thought he was best served going somewhere that would give him a chance to develop for a few years behind a decent QB - he definitely needed to get bigger and stronger to handle the NFL).
  18. good quarterbacks can make at least a few plays with substandard NFL players. It's harder for pocket passers to make plays with substandard talent than more mobile QBs. That can be a defense of Clausen and a reason to favor Newton. There's also room between what Clausen is now (not very good) and what he can become (solid to very good). Giving up on a QB after one year when you invested a high pick just isn't a good idea. what on earth leads you to believe that he can be "solid to very good"? what did he show? this is like the science vs faith argument. if you think he can be good based on faith, i respect that, but there is certainly no scientific fact or empirical data whatsoever to support your belief. you better send out a vatican priest to investigate this matter. the relevant point is it doesn't matter if the current QB is Jimmy Clausen, you, or me, the panthers are going to suck in 2011. So unless you are damn sure that newton is going to be a stud, why not select one of the more known quantities (or trade down) and get the "sure thing" QB next year, when you still have the #1 pick b/c you're [expletive] terrible? I'd be perfectly happy if Clausen were traded out of Carolina, but the fact that I like Clausen doesn't change that this was a stupid pick for the Panthers (again, unless they know that Newton is the QB of the future).
  19. good quarterbacks can make at least a few plays with substandard NFL players. carolina is a far cry from "substandard" jimmy clausen is a no talent puke who never ever looked like an nfl quarterback last year. i don't know how anyone can defend his performance, he just ran out there and pissed his pants and ran back to the bench a bunch of times per game. GET TO THE POINT ALREADY
  20. gruden is psycho

  22. Hit him wherever you like, Mike, but don't call him "Cassie". as someone whose HS baseball coach shortened my name in a similar fashion (which likewise sounded like a girl's name), I hope Castro can resist the urge to beat him to death with a fungo bat.
  23. no. no [expletive] way. and my son is 6, loves football, has a cannon for an arm, good hand-eye coordination and is a natural athlete. I'm not saying he's the next Walter Payton, but this is a discussion I'm likely to have with him in 6-8 years and it may not end happily. I just hope that, like me, his love of baseball overtakes his love of football before he gets to HS.
