    Though I hope when Boston asked for Garza, the Cubs laughed loudly and hung up. The Cubs have nothing to lose, which probably anger psycho Larry even more.

    They probably get an offer, say they have to discuss internally and give a counter, which is met by the same response. There's no deadline and it sounds like TR is as tough a negotiator as psycho Larry, so both sides are probably dragging their feet. It'd be nice for us to have this done, but Pujols isn't going to signed the day after the world series, so we're not losing anything. And Buster is right that Theo is already planning [expletive] for the Cubs. ETA the counteroffer likely comes hours later or the next day. I doubt they're talking for hours on end. They may have been earlier on, but that period is over. Esp if they've agreed on guys Theo can take, they should be close on prospects. You don't negotiate piecemeal. The cubs aren't going to agree to Theo taking 2 guys with him if the gulf on prospects is still McNutt v low A lotto ticket.

    let's just have him sign a ten year extension in boston and work here the whole time, think how much we could save! and we could sign players and have them play on other teams and do bad on purpose. We need Kyle to do one of those posts with the faces to really drive this home.

    I think it's the dismissive tone mixed with wrongness that make it so great. Why don't you enlighten me instead of attack me? Attack you? Ha. You don't think your tone was dismissive and your post wrong? Kyle, et al explained it as well as it could be explained. You either get it by now or not.

    Friedman, Beane, Cashman Possibly Byrnes, Hoyer, Atlanta guy, Cherington, and the Tampa assistant that's supposed to be really good, Hahn to a lesser extent. I don't consider that entire list equal, but I consider every one of them to be at least the equal of Epstein + $13 million (in extra salary) plus McNutt. So they are working for free then? Some of those guys will require compensation too. I think it's the dismissive tone mixed with wrongness that make it so great.

    I have no idea what the Tapatalk crap is, but I hate it more every time I see it. Make it stop! It's an app for smart phones that makes it way easier to browse/post on message boards. From what I understand, it's awesome. Not sure why every post needs to be tagged, though. It is awesome. EJ could turn off the signature feature.

    Tom's title is still owner. The fact that Theo would answer to one owner rather than the family of owners is irrelevant to the promotion question. The fact the would answer to one owner rather than one crazyface who reports to the owner(s) certainly is. relevant. Sure. Having someone between you and the owner is less desirable than not having that. Having the middle man be psychotic is presumably worse yet.

    It's not as large of a promotion. But whether or not it is on the right side of some imaginary "promotion/not a promotion" line is not reasonably in question. Nor is it relevant. Wouldn't want this thread to get side-tracked by discussions that aren't relevant.

    It's more than a title. I don't care what his title is. If you answer to someone other than the owner, your power is more limited than someone who answers to the owner.

    I don't know which answer is which, but this is a clear cut promotion. He would answer to no one but the owner. That's higher than answering to someone other than the owner.

    I give up. Because I do not think the world ends if we give up McNutt? Because it's not about their relative value. It's about the fact that we have no reason to give up that much value, so we shouldn't. If you know you can buy a car for $25,000... are you going to throw them an extra $1000 just to avoid the headache of negotiating it down? Make it $10,000. You underestimate how much people hate and suck at negotiating.

    So.... you're mad because you don't think my insults are clever, yet as you said taunting is a part of fantasy sports. I think you're being angry just to be angry. My point was that, when I do it there's no malice behind it (whether or not it's interpreted that way is another story) but a lot of the stuff here DOES have mailce behind it and is mean-spirited, not good-natured. And you ought to know by now that I could not give a [expletive] less about what you or anyone else thinks. Haha. You think I'm angry? I think you determine whether something is good natured based on whether you're the speaker or the target. I think you impute intent when you're the target of ribbing. I fully understood your point, which of course has no bearing whatsoever on the simple logical connection I made, which I now regret due to the creepiness that followed.

    Also, ND has about 50 billion recruits on campus, including about 4 of their top 5 remaining targets or something like that. BK putting a lot of eggs in this basket.

    I am too. If ND doesn't turn the ball over 5 times, it'll be a good game. Though I'm expecting Reed to throw at least 2 picks. We'll have to see if ND's run game or USC's run D wins that battle.

    This again? I post on a message board mostly made up of bigx fans. I've been an Iowa fan since birth. I spent 30 years in big ten country. I can discuss the conference without wanting ND to join it. Just let the ACC thing go. I'm right; just accept that. I made that comment bc MSU's defense is overrated and I think Wisconsin will destroy them. I also made that comment bc UM looked shitty against MSU, just like they did for 3 quarters against ND (the only 2 decent teams you've played). But Nard couldn't connect on miracle balls, due to a slight breeze (BK thought it was a beautiful day, imb) or DBs actually turning their heads once in a while. It was fun watching another team expose UM as mediocre and hang on for a victory. But I know that other team is going to get exposed this weekend bc their D isn't elite. They're thugs.

    Your hatred of the Big Ten is hilarious. MSU held you to 275 total yards, well below your season average. They outgained you by 100 yards that day. You also got 7 of those points off a kickoff return. MSU held Michigan to 250 total yards. In comparison, ND gave up more than 450 total yards to Michigan. MSU is a good defense. My alleged hatred of the bigx is only half as funny as your defensiveness.

    who says msu has a premiere defense? The only decent team they've played hung 31 on them.
