  1. And they're both eligible for the ROY but we don't have FA budgets so I think we need one rule for all international FAs.
  2. International FAs only and for that reason.
  3. Bukie is a solid add, imo.
  4. I'm not sure if #4 is a summary of my suggestion. If so, it's not quite right. My suggestion is if you draft an international FA in the ML draft, you can't put him on your minor league roster if he starts the year in the minors. So if there are guys that may start the year in the majors or minors, you account for that risk in drafting that player. It's the most bright line, bias free resolution bc it's the same every year for all international FAs. I wouldn't suggest that any player drafted in the ML draft can't play in the minors. And if they're rehabbing in the minors, they're probably on the ML DL anyway.
  5. He said he quit and pm'd Tim about it. This isn't grade school, so I assume someone isn't going to say they quit if they don't mean it. What purpose would that serve? Given how busy Tim is and how little time we have, I think we'd be wise to think of replacements here. I mean, we can't have a hole during the draft so we need this resolved within a week.
  6. We didn't make any huge, overwhelming, organization-wide changes, but I'm pretty excited about Nate Robertson.
  7. Ok. I thought he might be too busy in Montreal but hopefully he can get a pm out today. Thanks for the trades. :P
  8. With just 10 days until the proposed 3/1 start of the draft this probably needs a new thread. I've played fantasy baseball with a bunch of nsbb posters, so I've got a few names in mind. But maybe we should all offer suggestions here so we can get a pm out today? ETA link: viewtopic.php?p=2762799#p2762799
  9. Always the jackass...... i thought you weren't going to talk to me. Yeah, I made the mistake of asking for your opinion on how these players should be drafted, and I should have known to expect that type of an answer. Once an ass, always an ass. And frankly, I'm just not going to deal with it again this year. The only reason I stuck around this long was that you haven't been whining or attacking others with your childish posts. Thought you might have been growing up just a little bit. Alas, I was wrong. Still the same old Adam and I'm not doing another 6 months of this. My apologies to everyone else, but I quit. Please replace me! Whoa. Ok. We only have 10 days if we want to start the draft on 3/1. But I'm sure there are some folks that would be interested. BBB's roster isn't like nccf's was. I've got some posters I can think of that would make good replacements.
  10. Bright line rule is much better than case by case. If someone wants to draft Soler and stash him in the majors all year, have at it. Better to allow each team to make it's own risk assessment with international FAs then have to decide on each guy. I say make them all major league available but no guy drafted in the ML draft can be put in the minors until the following 2/14 roster setting date.
  11. i vote you can put him in the minors. normally that would be the case, and i don't know if i really like it. i think the minor league draft was put in place a) to make sure june draftees weren't just plucked off the waiver wire mid season and b) to prevent people from drafting a ton of prospects in the major league draft (namely, tim). Soler goes... I think there has to be a penalty of sorts for drafting international FAs in the ML draft. Losing the player outright is too stiff, but not putting them in the minors is fair. Teams can decide if Cespedes is worth an early pick knowing that they have to stash him on a short bench for as long as he's in the minors. Same for Soler (and same for Darvish, though the risk is lower).
  12. So if Cespedes starts the year in the minors for 6 weeks, the team that drafted him just has to stash him on the bench? The point I'm getting at is you can't draft someone in the ML draft and move him to the minors if he starts the year there, right? I'm fine with whatever, I just want to know the rules and hopefully have them remain the same going forward.
  13. So is there a penalty if a guy doesn't go to the majors? I guess you can't send him to your minors so you're stuck with a wasted bench spot? Someone can't take a flier on a tweener like Cespedes if they're willing to waste a bench spot on him?
  14. Cespedes too?
  15. Plus a couple dozen exempt players.
  16. I think BBB's is the most cut and dry plan. If they haven't played in the majors yet, be they international FA or minor leaguers, they can only be drafted in the prospect draft. Making a rule with exceptions just leads to confusion and arguments.
  17. Waivers I assume. Is waiver priority reverse draft order? If so, pretty risk free gamble for the team with the last pick in R1.
  18. Let's just say I won't be counting on Neal until he's actually in the building, if you will.
  19. He's hit and miss for me. Too many misses to be a must read.
  20. Carp and ptbnl for ptbnl. Weird resolution.
  21. As revised in my post above, my team is done.
  22. Mooch gets my 8th rounder pick in 2013 for Venters
  23. Good summary. Sorry if I missed this rule Q, but trades after the roster lock don't have to stay under the 2000 cap, is that right? So trading a draft pick for a player after the lock (Feb 14, most years), e.g., doesn't change the point total for any team. If I have that wrong, when does the cap go away? After the draft? During the draft?
  24. I have one more move possible, but it won't affect my point total. Should be final very soon.
  25. Urban Meyer just announced he's identified his top 8 targets for 2013. He appreciates the hard work Hoke is doing for him out there.
