You almost have to go to 9 conf games. And with the dilution of football in the conf, the OOC slate may have to be pretty strong (assuming SOS actually counts, as it's supposed to, for the playoffs). I don't think the big x gets the perception benefit the SEC enjoys. Everyone thinks every team in the SEC plays murderer's row in conf play. But if you're one of the great teams, like Bama, you may only have 2 other good teams in your division. But people see Florida, LSU, Georgia, USC and Bama all in the top 10 and give all SEC teams credit for a hard schedule w/o thinking about who plays whom. I don't think the big x will have that benefit.
