  2. Criticize it and dismiss it all you want, but the great dark purge seems to have really lifted morale in that clubhouse. Eh, I think it was getting rid of the old clueless whitey-in-charge, i.e. this guy: There is no doubt in my mind that he was 90% of their problems.
  3. Yeah it was crazy. I don't know a lot about rehabbing injuries but wasn't Schwarber's comeback in the same season after shredding his knee crazy too? Not in the same category/analogous as a labrum for a pitcher? Definitely not in the same realm. The amount of work you have to do just to regain range of motion on a torn labrum is ridiculous and most guys never recover all the velocity they had previously because of that alone. When you have an ACL tear, you're on a mobility machine regaining a huge chunk of range of motion damn near before you wake up from surgery. Shoulders suck. I've had mine fixed twice.
  4. He wouldn't call playoff games, he'd be at a concert.
  5. And it's apparently made from stuff Wainwright has grown in his garden.
  6. Oh come on, you'd love it if it was a Cub thing. On the other hand, yeah, he's a Texas guy and buddies with Arrieta so he's likely a bible thumping weirdo. Also, if you can't hit anywhere in the lineup but the 1 spot, you're not an MVP. you don't know me very well Oh, you want to build the wall too now huh?

  8. How many of those teams are missing an MVP, a 5 win pitcher, and their closer for like half the season or more? The Cubs are fine if the pitching can be even decent the rest of the way and like Duke said, bullpen the horsefeathers out of the playoffs for the best chance.
  9. They look the same to me. Cubs, Dodgers, Royals and Jays all look the same colors to me too. Same for the Angels, Braves, and Red Sox.
  10. What kind of crazy pills are you taking?
  11. Great to hear! Any tips on grabbing tickets? I'm going to be in town tomorrow night and was thinking about going.
  12. That's a terrific play to just field the ball, but the most impressive thing to me is the perfect footwork (and how quick it is) to get back to his feet and be in a position to unleash the bullet throw that's so damn accurate.
  13. Probably nothing else major, but a waiver deadline deal or two wouldn't surprise me.
  14. Translation: nobody is giving up enough for it to be worth doing this.
  15. Matt Carpenter seems like a solid answer.
  16. That's unfortunate. Would have liked to get to tee off on him a couple more times this weekend.
  17. i hope it’s not cahokia!! That's not even in Missouri, so he's good.

  19. Ha! I know that Buffa dude. He gets it.
  20. Girardi is actually an intelligent person though. There’s no way he’s possibly as bad as Matheny.
  21. Mozeliak must be feeling the heat. Not really surprised, but still a little bit unexpected.
  22. He’s a decent athlete who’s getting better at the position but still occasionally misjudges a ball and has an above average arm that is pretty accurate. He’s fine out there just like most people who knew he was still learning to be an OF thought he would be.
  23. Almora is a "speedy lead off hitter" according to the Giants broadcasters I heard that and thought wow, these guys get paid to talk about baseball, huh.
  24. The quick hook in the playoffs mostly makes sense though If you want to run your bullpen into the ground, sure. It’s either that or guarantee a loss most nights the starter isn’t on, so yeah, you take your chances and hope the starter is better the next night.
