  1. Why would our cleanup hitter even think about bunting? Is it really that bad?
  2. Because the Cubs suck a whole lot more than the Astros did. Oh, and the manager has about 1/2 of a brain cell.
  3. "And since we're obviously dreaming, who would we target? Gomes, Abreu, Burrell, Geoff Jenkins, Carlos Lee, Mench, Kearns?" I may just be geting ESPN'd, but I really like the little I've seen of Gomes. He seems like a gritty huslte type guy who just like to play baseball. Doesn't hurt that he can hit it a mile either.
  4. To all of you claiming this was a clean play: This would have been a clean play if Barrett already had the ball. If you have watched baseball for any extended length of time, you would notice that collisions at home plate occur almost exclusively when the catcher already has the bal or is in the process of catching it. Nearly every other player in the major leagues would have used a hook slide and been safe at the plate without causing a problem of any kind. AJP, with his previously established reputation caused this entire event to happen. I'm not excusing Barrett for his behavior, but he is not the sole bearer of blame for this incident by any stretch. Now that I've said that, let it rip.....
  5. Holy crap, a hit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Dude, that's the bad kind of FIRE! and INTENSITY! The good kind is what happens in the clubhouse, when the manager kicks some butt and the team suddenly starts playing better or when the players hold a closed door meeting and decide to stop sucking. You know I actually did that just for you.
  7. You know the ump was bad if Maddux actually made a point of saying something to him. I wish he would have reamed him on the way to the dugout. Show some of that FIRE and INTENSITY!!! :D
  8. That's not the ball being killed. It's my will to live. OK that may be a bit dramatic.
  9. How many pitches for Buehrle thus far?
  10. If hairston would keep the bat on his shoulder he would have a 3-0 count right now. So irritating to see them keep swinging at total crap.
  11. Shut up, seriously? This could be the ultimate gas can situation. Don't think this situation needs gas. Completely spontaneous combustion.
  12. That makes it sound like he didn't crush that ball.
  13. Does the Cubs entire lineup have as many HRs as Thome, Konerko, and Dye?
  14. I think I'll start drinking now. Not sure why I waited this long really.
  15. Quit swinging at ball four....more than once each AB. Ugh.
  16. Good thing for the Sox they have five then. On a completely unrelated topic, I hate this ump, he is HORRIBLE.
  17. That was much better. Although crappy hitters tend to make it easier, which explains why crappy pitchers do so well against the Cubs.
  18. The way that inning went, this could be ugly.
  19. It appears there is no outside corner.
  20. Please don't be hurt after that catch.
  21. Beat me to it. He should have been looking at a 2-1 count after strike three.
  22. He not hustled to first. I was actually referring to the four balls he took to get to 1st base. Didn't know the Cubs were still allowed to do that. :D
  23. What was that thing that ARam just did????????
  24. Apparently the Cubs will continue to employ the strategy of counting on other team's mistakes to score runs. About as sound a theory as anything else they're doing right now.
  25. If he bunted it would go 2 feet. It took a full swing to get the ball half way to 3rd.
