  1. Man, the Cubs are definitely getting shafted on matchups lately. Lodolo, Littel and Abbott for us while the Brewers get the corpse of Erik Fedde, some dude with a 5.02 ERA, and Strider in their 3 games with the Braves on top of missing Gore against the Nats last weekend.
  2. I'd suggest you go look at the second half Amaya and PCA had last year and be patient, especially after the hot start since the break.
  3. Sure, but their owners have a proclivity to actually use the spending power they have.
  4. No reason is a bit of an exaggeration. The same thing happened to him that happened to the rest of the Cubs around this time, just to a much larger degree. Pitching changed immensely in the 2016-2018 time frame and the hitters the Cubs had were extremely susceptible to that change and none of them were ever as good again. Heyward was just the one who suffered the most.
  5. It's been discussed a bit but for some reason he's not getting near as much whiff in 2 strike counts as he is in other counts. The overall whiff rate is fine, just not there with 2 strikes and the general consensus is the strikeouts will come.
  6. I 100% get and am in favor of the reasoning behind pulling Horton after 71 pitches but I hate it in the moment.
  7. I'm not sure I've ever seen a ball go off a 3B's foot like that.
  8. He looks like he's starting to get comfortable throwing any pitch in any count. Two of the strikeouts today have been looking and the hitters were obviously expecting a very different pitch than they got.
  9. He's a catcher who was on first base so I'm not sure there's any expectation he scores on that play.
  10. I think you're much more likely to see Hap traded than Seiya simply because the best options to fill that hole in the lineup are LH and this team is already weaker against LHP than RHP.
  11. Uh, pitties are lap dogs. Don't you deny that good boy (or girl) their rightful place.
  12. Shut your stupid piehole and let me be irrational. Geez, can't have any fun around here anymore. 🤣😘
  13. The more I stew on it, the less mad I am at Jed and the more mad I am at ownership. Jed hung onto the prospects because he knows he’s not going to have the cash available to re-sign Tucker and at the end of the day, he’s going the route that will sustain some level of success and trading those guys now leaves a huge vacuum in the OF next year and beyond.
  14. I give them a D. You have a glaring need to eat innings and add another playoff starter and you cheap out and say arms were too expensive? Then in the offseason you're going to say Tucker is too expensive. This is amateur hour and MLB should force the Ricketts to sell the team because they refuse to act like the big market behemoth they should be. It's an absolute travesty. I'm less mad at Jed than ownership since he knows he has to keep Caissie around because Tom will cheap out and not give him the cash to sign an actual franchise player long term.
  15. There were rental arms out there to be had and with the question marks the Cubs have with durability, youth, and innings limits, he had to do something more than Soroka.
  16. Man, I've been as big a defender of Jed as anyone but this is just bad. As others have said, this tells me he's not going to get the money he needs to re-sign Tucker so he has to hang onto Caissie. The off season I can excuse him for a little because of Tom's budget BS, but this is 100% on him and I'm not sure he recovers from this with the fans.
  17. Tucker gone, Happ and Suzuki traded and you have wide open spots for all 3 and Tom gets to pocket millions. This is absolute horsefeathers.
  18. That's sure what it feels like right now.
  19. I'm one of them and if this is it, I'm pissed. Dereliction of duty.
  20. 1. I'd bet Berti is on the postseason roster over Ballesteros because baserunning can be at a real premium then. 2. Red Sox getting May gives me more hope on Ryan.
