  1. Says the guy whose team couldn't beat a 15 seed.
  2. Wow, Wisconsin is 13 of 21 from 3 right now. Just on fire!
  3. For the type of player Cespedes is projected to be, 6/36 was a good deal, but 4/36 really wasn't. Especially considering the higher-than-average bust risk he holds. He only has to be worth about 2 WAR/year to be worth that contract. Not guaranteed but it's not a big risk. I think that's a bit of a skewed way of looking at it given the risk inherent in signing a guy who has no big league (or minor league, for that matter) track record and the odd conditions under which he's a free agent. I just don't think it apples to apples to compare him to a ML FA with a track record in terms of how you're going to pay him.
  4. http://i.istockimg.com/file_thumbview_approve/4078453/2/stock-photo-4078453-dump-truck-backing-up.jpg Prolly need more than 1 of those things to get him.....
  5. I watched this game at a pub in Bath, England. Not that anybody cares.
  6. I think they probably looked at both of them as projects to work on and Volstad appears to have taken to the coaching better than Wood has to this point. They both had crappy years last season and have been working on different things, probably as expected, and it just hasn't clicked with Wood yet. I don't think this "competition" falls into the same category as most would since they both had flaws to fix.
  7. That was a helluva finish to the half!
  8. I just want to make sure everybody sees this, because it could not be more true. The adjustment he made while in the air to get square to the hoop and knock that down was freaking amazing.
  9. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's only for this year. In 2013, they're revert back to the 2-2-1 format. I don't understand why it's necessary this year, but not going forward. I think it was a scheduling thing, which is why they weren't sure they were going to add the extra WC this year if I remember right.
  10. Damn near got your wish. At any rate, lulz @ Iowa!
  11. What's Bryan French for? Pubic
  12. I disagree with this 100%. They had the Vernon Maxwell incident as precedent. With that information in hand, every single NBA franchise should have had a contingency plan in place on what actions to take if something like that happened again. I work in the chemical industry and nearly every single one of the safeguards we have in place in case of an emergency is based on something that somebody else did wrong in some situation, and we damn sure have things in place to prevent major catastrophes from occurring at our facilities that have happened elsewhere. It's a pretty common practice in the safety/security field to have things in place to prevent previous incidents from either occurring at all again or to significantly mitigate the amount of damage caused. Somebody in the Pistons organization (and probably a bunch of others) completely dropped the ball by not having a procedure in place to deal with this.
  13. Expect? Not necessarily. Think they will? Yes Michigan State can be beaten...especially on the road. Don't get me wrong, they are a fantastic team and are more likely to win, but if NW and Illinois can beat MSU at home, Indiana certainly can. Yeah, they're playing an entirely different level of basketball right now than when they lost those 2 games.
  14. There's also a huge difference between passing to a guy like Kerr who was consistently among the top 3 pt. % shooters in the NBA every year and a guy like Boobie Gibson, who's kind of just a guy.
  15. No, this just means they have to be very diligent in following the policy they have written. That's why this got thrown out, because procedure wasn't strictly adhered to in the eyes or the arbitrator.
  16. There has to be more to this story. Based on what Mike and Mike just read out of the MLB testing protocol and my own experience handling samples in the proper way so chain of custody isn't broken, I have absolutely no idea how or why this ruling was made. The guy who had the sample did everything he was supposed to do to maintain the integrity of the sample. I'd be surprised if MLB doesn't appeal this and a bit surprised if this ruling doesn't get overturned and he has to serve the suspension at some point. That is, unless there are more details we haven't heard yet.
  17. Yesterday was the first time I've noticed him not playing hard. The kid clearly has some growing up to do so I'm not absolving him completely of any blame, but Weber has handled this whole season so abysmally that I have a hard time being too hard on Leonard. As a side note, he's not getting ripped like Adam Morrison because he doesn't have a ridiculous mustache.
  18. It's strange. Bruce had an epiphany the other night. Not sure how this is happening, adios clownshoes. They have all just completely and totally quit on him. You reap what you sow. I guess you can only throw your players under the bus so many times before they tell you to eff off. I just hope they all stick around and the next coach figures out how to utilize all the talent on the roster.
  19. Is it me or is Leonard not even trying anymore?
  20. And as soon as I turn on the Illinois game they proceed to start crapping the bed. Shocking!
  21. 1, but he also wasn't usually the smallest guy on the court and able to be neutralized by a bigger, better athlete during crunch time.
  22. ig said he gets it within 60 days Update on The Score just said that alumni/donors have made it clear to the AD that the buyout should not be a factor in his decision to fire or not fire Weber.
  23. I think the real problem is that you have no idea what you're talking about. Pretty much. A good coach can make the pieces fit. You adjust to your teams strengths. I ran a motion offense in high school that was completely different between my junior and senior years because we had different strengths and weaknesses. It's not complicated, but he keeps running the same crap that doesn't work. He's clearly lost the players, and while that's partly on them, it certainly has more to do with the fact that Weber has failed to do his job well.
  24. In terms of in game coaching, this has probably been my single biggest complaint with Weber. Plays after a TO and out of bounds plays in general are almost always 100% unproductive. Can we get Shaka?
  25. Unless there is a clause in the contract that says he will (like the one Cespedes and Fukudome got) than no. It will be like what is happening to Samardzija now. If he doesn't have enough service time for arbitration (which seems likely), then the Cubs will be able to cut his last years salary by the full 20% if they want to, or they can choose to non-tender him at that point. Unless there is that clause though, he'd be under Cubs control for the 6 years of major league service time just like every prospect. Still don't get it 100%. Is the basic jist that no matter what, he's under our control for 6 years after his big league debut no matter what? I guess my main confusion about these types of deals is what they mean by major league deal if he'll be in the minors and not even on the 40 man. Does it just mean that he'll be getting paid more as opposed to standard minor league salary? Seriously, do you have any capacity for reading comprehension? This has been discussed ad nauseum in the Cespedes thread. Unless the contract specifically stipulates that the player is entitled to free agency at the end of the contract, the team has control of him for six major league seasons unless they give up that right by releasing him. And yes, a major league deal means he's on the 40 man. You don't have to be at any specific level in the minors to be on the 40 man. Now, go read (and comprehend some things while you're at it) before you post anything else today. Or, just go away altogether. I'd be down with that option.
