  1. That will be a huge difference from recent years. Having competent bodies to compete for spots and having guys who can step in and not be completely worthless will be nice. Still a bit baffled by the pick though.
  2. Yeah, a trade down would have been a nice move there. Weird first rounders so far from the new GM. Not a fan.
  3. I prefer Star but I don't know that you can go wrong with any of the 3 DTs. Man, Gruden does not like Richardson.
  4. This is stupid that the game is on the NBA network that I don't get.
  5. As much as it's a crapshoot and we bitched about Hendry doing it, I really think a chunk of the budget for next year needs to be spent on viable bullpen arms. They'd be close to .500 if they could have just held on to some of these games late. I realize that's not the full solution, but it's such an obvious thing to fix and is without question the most frustrating way to lose a game. It would be helpful if they were scoring more than 2 runs in 9 innings as well, especially in a band box like GAB.
  6. BREAKING NEWS: Castro Walks!!!!!1111!!!!1111!11!11
  7. Wow, the Reds catchers are bad at throwing guys out. Haven't been paying much attention to how quick the pitchers are to the plate, but tonight they haven't even really been close.
  8. That's at least the 3rd ball that has appeared to have been knocked down a bit to straight away right/right center tonight.
  9. So, who's next in line to give away a game?
  10. How can you call both of those pitches strikes? That's an enormous zone.
  11. Alright Carlos, that's all you're getting tonight. Make it work.
  12. So it's gonna be that kind of night huh?
  13. It would be stupid to blame him for all these losses that keep piling up. He's been given crap rosters and on field execution has been pretty bad. He's partially responsible for that, but can you really question many of the decisions he makes? I mean, there's some here and there that are debatable, but even the one I had a big problem with last night (leaving Bowden in for a 2nd inning) there's really not much fundamentally wrong with the decisions he's making. The demotion thing I'll give him a pass on since it was more than likely completely out of frustration and something I'd be surprised if the subject hadn't already been broached in the clubhouse.
  14. I'm amused by this typo because it's pretty much how I feel about them right now.

    Rizzo

No he doesn't. He drops his hands as part of his pre-load, but when the ball is released by the pitcher, they are in the proper location. He has a very efficient track to the ball in relation to his stance. Plus, dropping his hands was part of the reworked swing mechanics that made him not hit .125 and K a ton when he came back up last year if I recall.
  16. Huh? Is the field just really [expletive] at Kane County or did the burbs get pounded with rain overnight? They are just about to get pounded all day. There's a joke about a mom or sister in there, I just don't think I can pull it off.
  17. Loe and Rondon were left. Yeah, I definitely would have felt better about the outcome had he pulled Bowden for one of those two. Bowden in a second inning of work just seems like a bad idea at this point in his career, especially trying to close a game. And this isn't hindsight, I kind of groaned when I saw he was coming out for the 13th.
  18. Why the hell did he leave Bowden out there for a second inning? Especially with the heart of their order coming up. Was there anybody left in the pen?
  19. Garza's an arbitration guy on a series of one year contracts until he becomes a FA, so technically his current contract came under Theo's regime. And would people quit bitching about Soriano's contract? It may not have been a great deal but he's produced at about the dollar level he's being paid.
  20. Well, for starters, there's a hard cap on spending in the draft. There's no "public" money being contributed to the Wrigley renovation. The draft pick compensation possibilities are greatly diminished. The money you can spend internationally is restricted. What the hell else do you need? No, none of us are happy about the state of the ML team, but due to some unforeseen circumstances things haven't progressed as quickly as anyone would have liked. It's not excusing them, it's being reasonable about the task they've undertaken and the time frame they're operating on. If they're not significantly better next year, I'll be kind of ticked.
  21. If that had happened on the court, yeah, but he got carted off in a wheelchair and came back to score a ton of points. Just another drama queen.
  22. Except for that whole not getting on base thing, I guess. That's why I said projects as, not is. If he can get on base more often, that touch of power he seems to have could make him a much cheaper Michael Bourn. What part of a career .324 OBP projects to a good leadoff man?
  23. Except for that whole not getting on base thing, I guess.
  24. Yeah, the strikeout pitch to Andrus got that classic "Oh crap!" reaction it used to when the batter thinks it's going to hit them and it drops right over the plate for a strike.
