    Yeah, but I think that's based more on their hitting than anything defensively. Was he close to being as athletic as Bryant? It's based on body type as well: http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000ERYRo4IJZYI/s/600/600/Glaus-Troy3609-4-Goren.jpg Considering Glaus played SS at UCLA, I don't think it's a stretch to say they were considered similar athletically too. I just hate the body type argument because guys that size who are very athletic are inherently extremely rare, so of course you don't see a lot of them play that position at a high level. I don't think the sample size is large enough to say someone isn't likely to play the position well BECAUSE of his height/size. That and you've got a guy like Scott Rolen, who was about the same size as those guys, and was a great defensive 3B.

    I'm not talking just on offense. His defensive ability off the ball is amazing and he just seems to float pretty often when he could be making plays. The blocked shots he makes from seemingly out of nowhere seem to happen most often in one of the runs like they made last night where his effort is amped up.

    For me, the thing that's really irritating about Lebron is that despite having all the talent in the world, he seems to just coast and let the game dictate to him instead of making the game flow the way he wants it to. I don't know if that's a function of the players around him or what, but it seems to me that most of the other great players out there, when matched up with an approximately equally talented opponent, could impose their will on the game a little bit more. Maybe it just seems like he's not exerting that much effort because things come so easily to him, but man, when he gets really motivated, he's an unstoppable monster out there. I can't figure out why that player doesn't show up more consistently, especially in the playoffs.

    He was way out of the basepaths. It wasn't a particularly dirty slide (at least IMO), but it was definitely the right call. Just saw the replay and Robinson's left arm was at least a foot away from the bag. The late foot flail was what was really out of line. Seems about par for the course for them though. Their fans won't ever see it, but stuff like this happens pretty regularly.

    Leonard is a 63% FT shooter. don't get why people are so anxious to be all CHOKE CHOKE every time a team loses a close game. 82%, They put up a graphic late in the game saying 63 or 64% for Leonard.

    No, but it's a crazy optical illusion caused by those criss-crossing bars beyond the fence.

    He's been really solid this year. I think he ends up as the next Sean Marshall/James Russell type. By type if you mean LH relief pitcher, then yes. But not results. Since 2010 (Marshall's first full year as a relief pitcher) Marshall has a higher K/9 rate every year in MLB than Rusin does in AA/AAA. Marshall has put up fWAR's of 1.7, 2.6, 1.9 the last 3 years, Rusin isn't ever going to do that in MLB. Marshall's FIP and xFIP are also 1-2 full points lower at the MLB level than Rusin's are at the AAA/AA level over the last 3 years. Rusin is nothing more than minor league fodder. What about Marshall's minor league numbers when he was a starter? Or was he injured too often to really rack up many innings?

    The pulling of Russell after one or two batters is the thing that drives me the most insane. You can maybe talk yourself into the Marmol stuff being something the FO is dictating, but you're absolutely right about the rest of the BP management. It's completely atrocious and it really is surprising with the many good decisions he makes in other areas of the game.

    The ticker on ESPN this morning had a typo and it was showing as "drug racing" for a while. I was very confused.

    Just saw a highlight of the game winning HR. Travis Wood got royally hosed getting an L today. That pitch was nowhere near a strike and the guy golfs it out of the park. Unreal. The "bad luck" really is unbelievable, but the lack of offense is inexcusable.

    That is absurd. If it is unrealistic for him to feel as though they should let him go, how can it possibly be unfair of them not to let him go? Well, he's right. Hence the speculation there may be some sort of mutual agreement to part ways with some, but not all, of his remaining salary to be paid. He is not right about it being unfair on their part not to let him go. That's a ridiculous statement. It's unfair to the Cubs if they let him go and have to pay his entire salary. I may have read that differently than you, but that's how I took it. Probably giving him too much credit for having a coherent thought though.

    Saw a clip of the CJ thing a little while ago. I really kind of think the judge was out of line. He gave his male lawyer a pat on the backside for a job well done and the judge reacts like that? [expletive].

    With all the Jordan/LeBron comparisons going on, I'm watching this game in amazement seeing the defense give LeBron a 4 foot cushion on the perimeter and him not take the shot ever. I'm talking 3 point line and in to about 19-20 feet. 8 years into his career, there's no way Jordan would have been given that cushion and not just knocked down the shot almost every time.

    Dude on MLB Network was quoting W/L record to mock the pick. Might have been as bad as anything Gammons or Reynolds said. That was Greg Amsinger, huge Cardinal Homer. Always mocks us, totally unprofessional. He's a regular guest on one of the sports talk shows in STL. It amazing how douchey he is, even for a Cards homer. He really is completely unprofessional, which seems to be a theme for those out of TBFIB. The inferiority complex in general towards Chicago is spectacular to watch, especially when they criticize people from KC for the same thing.

    Obviously SP are generally much more valuable, but could the 2nd rounder potentially be a guy who they've targeted as a pen arm? With the reports of some pretty good high end velocity, harnessing that with a solid change would be a recipe for a very good late inning/setup guy. Probably not the case, but with his profile and the possibility of it being an under slot type pick, I thought it might be a thought to consider.
