  1. The thing that really stands out to me there is how many games each of the B1G teams played against the top 100. 11, 14, 14, and 16 vs. no more than 12 for any other team besides Kansas. I think the toughness of the overall schedule (i.e. getting no "easy" conference wins) should have an influence on the way seeding goes. Question since I haven't paid much attention: Is Sparty going to be healthy by the time the tourney starts? Edit: Changed Duke to Kansas because my memory ain't so good.
  2. Kris Medlen left the Braves game today with a forearm strain. He's already had one TJS.
  3. It's not, but he should definitely get some votes and finish top 5.
  4. This has been a hell of an effort by the Bulls today. Fun to watch when they crank up the defense. Reminds me a little of the old "unleashing the dobermans" from back in the day. Also, Jimmy Butler is a better defender than Deng. Discuss.
  5. Almora with a sharp single to right, Valaika double to score him, followed by a Soler triple to right center. Almora was a first pitch hit, Soler on a 3-1.
  6. And Vitters just struck out for the 3rd time.
  7. Rough inning for Soler. He misplayed the first ball hit to him and allowed a single, though that was probably because he didn't pick it up right away. With 1 out, a long fly ball to right was hit and he was at the wall, had it in his glove and dropped it.
  8. Looks like they gave them to the home crowd. Of course they did since that game isn't on MLB TV.
  9. He's 21 and hit decently for a catcher. Don't we usually see catchers get better at hitting later since so much developmental time is spent learning how to catch and call a game?
  10. They're a really good team, but they aren't nearly this good. UI is playing zero defense tonight.
  11. Dumbest name ever. I'll raise you a Gookie Dawkins and a Stubby Clapp.
  12. UW-LaCrosse here. They had great football and XC/track programs while I was there but they've fallen off a bit in the last few years. The Wisconsin schools are typically very strong athletically (UWSP #1 and UW-W #2 in basketball right now). And I think Whitewater won the football title as well. IWU actually plays a school out of STL in the 1st round (Webster), although I don't think they are all that great. My dad is a Whitewater alum and because of that I know they've won 5 or 6 football titles in the last 8 years. At least they beat Mt. Union, I hate those guys.
  13. UW-LaCrosse here. They had great football and XC/track programs while I was there but they've fallen off a bit in the last few years.
  14. I think this is probably the best reason to have him doing that. Learning how to manage an AB deep in the count is something I'd like to see him get really good at. I loved a lot about Soriano's game, but his general inability to be a tough out against good pitchers because of his propensity to swing at pitches nowhere near the zone was frustrating to watch.
  15. It's really not fair to other teams to have 2 guys that good on one team.
  16. Which one of the 3 they hit is that directed at?
  17. I asked about them on the last page because I don't know a damn thing about them, which is insane for a team that's leading the ACC.
  18. Well, Nunn didn't do his job on that play and you're just blatantly wrong. However, what Appling just did to Rice all the way down the court should have been called about 5 or 6 times before Rice gave up the ball.
  19. Are you sure on that? He was on his dad's team at UWGB that made the tourney 2 straight years (an odd fact I only know because a guy from my high school was the starting shooting guard on those teams) and I'd guess he was probably an assistant for his dad at some point at UW, but I don't recall him working for Bo.
  20. No, they aren't, but they certainly can be. Especially when an injury like this is involved. I don't see any reason the TJS would have anything to do with him moving off 3rd.
  21. They are extremely good, I just have a problem putting much faith in a Tony Bennett coached team in the tournament. Why?
  22. What's the consensus on Virginia? I haven't seen them play, but that record in the ACC is impressive.
  23. He's got a change that used to flash plus on occasion, but now may even be considered a true plus pitch at this point. I thought that's what it looked like, but it was like 85 or 86 mph and that made me question the look I got at it. He does throw 96-97 though, so I guess that's about right for a change. It had some really nice downward and tailing action away from a lefty to it.
  24. Holy [expletive] Eric Hinske hasn't missed a single meal since he retired. He's huge!
  25. Just catching the game now on dvr. What does Grimm throw for offspeed stuff? Whatever it was looked nasty on the pitch he struck out Gregorius on.
