Jerry Coleman: If you're a closer, you're going to have to be able to throw back-to-back games. An obvious point, of course, but it's worth noting that Ryan Dempster's performance in back-to-back games was horrible last year. By the metrics at Baseball Prospectus, he was the worst in the pen in such situations, worse than Howry, Ohman, Eyre, Novoa, Wuertz, and Aardsma. I still think Dempster has a lot of value against righties, but I'd rather not see him close again. Wuertz or Howry, please.
