  1. Cruz mashes LHP. I really wanted the Cubs to pick him up to platoon with Jones. He signed for around $500,000, so he would have come cheap. :(
  2. I hope that's the opening day line-up. Except that Jones doesn't hit Arroyo very well. And Murton hasn't done much against him, yet, either. Floyd ought to start if Arroyo starts.
  3. Carrie Muskat is self conscious about the size of her calves?
  4. Is Ozzie aware that his team scored a lot more runs in 2006 than it did in 2005?
  5. Like nails on a chalk board. Shut up! He sounds stoned.
  6. Jones doesn't hit Vazquez well. If this were the regular season, I'd want him to sit.
  7. I'd rather Guz throw at a good player.
  8. Lou couldn't get Ward in the lineup today? [-X
  9. There are a lot of sources for manager salaries, but does anyone know where to find salaries for bench coaches? I've looked for half an hour with no luck.
  10. I try to avoid him in print, on the radio, or on the television. He could have been a contender, though. I gave his short-lived radio show a few listens, and he repeatedly stated that sports reporters should study sports medicine so they could competently discuss injuries. I don't know why he didn't/doesn't follow through on his own advice. The world needs more Will Carroll-types and fewer Bill Plaschke-types.
  11. He's actually very good at what he does...He creates controversy. Judging a "journalist" by the number of newspapers he sells is like judging a movie by the number of tickets it sells. a)There are good movies that generate big box office numbers. b) There are bad movies that generate big box office numbers. c) There are good movies that perform poorly at the box office. d) There are bad movies that perform poorly at the box office. Mariott's work falls under choice (b).
  12. Mariotti. I would fight Jay Mariotti.
  13. March 29 is a Thursday, not a Saturday. The draft is on March 31. I'll be in Cincinnati, so I'll have to do autopick.
  14. I'd rather have Lillibridge, for now and for the future.
  15. As a fan, I should care what this guy thinks for what reason? Because he runs a baseball web site? I think not. Because he's widely recognized as the most knowledgeable and reliable reporter on baseball injuries.
  16. Cabrera and Izturis will likely have about the same OBP this season, and Cabrera will have about 50 points of SLG on Izturis. Is that enough to outweigh Izturis's better defense? In my mind, no.
  17. Really? PECOTA projects Pie to be worth 2 wins more than Jones this year. Does Pecota add a platoon partner for Jones? Probably not.. Who's his platoon partner for the Cubs? Ken Rosenthal thinks the Cubs will platoon Jones with either DeRosa or Theriot. Lou loves to play percentages so I could see it happening. I hope Rosenthal isn't just speculating about the possibility.
  18. Really? PECOTA projects Pie to be worth 2 wins more than Jones this year. Does Pecota add a platoon partner for Jones? Probably not.. Who's his platoon partner for the Cubs? DeRosa and Theriot. Has Lou stated that he'll platoon Jacque? I haven't seen anything to that effect. If Derosa and Jones were platooning in RF, that would be great, but Derosa is going to be the fulltime 2B this year, isn't he? And if Jacque needs a platoon partner, so does Mark.
