  1. Jeromy Burnitz has three hits and 1 HR so far this year. Just sayin'.
  2. A Jacque-O-Meter? Strangely, I have the feeling that we aren't going to obsess over Jones vs Burnitz numbers like we did with Burnitz vs Sosa in the early part of last season.
  3. Will someone start an official When-Will-Jacque-Jones-Get-A-Hit pool? All of those who work in the corporate world should get their companies to donate prizes.
  4. Strange. MLB.TV just turned to the Cubs home feed instead of the St Louis feed.
  5. I don't necessarily, but I remember a time last year when it would have been perfect. I think it was against the Mets in a Wednesday day game in May. There were runners on 1st and 3rd (maybe bases loaded) with less than 2 outs. Neifi at bat. The game is tied. One run wins the game. I was praying that Baker would embrace the squeeze. Instead Neifi did what Neifi does and hit into a double play.
  6. You beat me to it! The 5-second delay on MLB.TV is hurting me.
  7. I can't believe I just saw Dusty call for a squeeze.
  8. I think whenever the Cubs play the Cardinals, Dusty feels like he's in a managing contest with Larussa. I expect Dusty to give us three double switches, four hit and runs, a couple of attempted steals, and five sac bunts.
  9. It's better to be a first guesser than a second guesser. That's why he is the best color man in baseball. :^o But Santo's white, isn't he?
  10. Dusty frowns on walking. I frown on taking bad risks. That's where Dusty and I differ. It's especially stupid to run in front of Lee. Let him hit. Don't ask him to go the other way. Don't ask him to take a pitch so Neifi can steal. Don't risk Neifi getting thrown out.
  11. Finally, it seems Hendry was able to assemble a roster of CLUTCH hitters.
  12. Nice showing by Young Matt Murton and Young Ronny Cedeno.
  13. My prediction: Doc Gooden gets more hits in 2006 than Jacque Jones.
  14. One Cards announcer says Jacque Jones struggled with Twins because he had pressure to do it all himself. The other says maybe he's just not a very good hitter. :(
  15. And thanks Dusty for having the foresight to play Neifi. Walker probably would've just clogged the bases. Just say no to base clogging Has a HR ever been overturned because there were guys clogging the bases? Well, if a base runner falls behind the guy who hit it, I believe it is an out. It had to have happened at some point in over 100 years of ball. That's why we need speedy guys batting in front of DLee and Aramis. You can't underestimate the importance of speed.
  16. Walker wouldn't have gotten to that one.
  17. I try not to be negative, but I share your feelings. It's great that DLee hit a HR, but it stinks that there was no one on base. Derrek can't help that, and really, Neifi can't help that. Dusty can help that. Neifi is, by one way of ranking offense, the 12th worst offensive player since 1900. He shouldn't be at the top of the lineup - and he shouldn't be starting at all.
  18. Don't get out of the way, Neifi! Take one for the team, sissy boy.
  19. For those who subscribe to Baseball Prospectus, note the article yesterday in which Neifi appears as the 12th worst offensive player since 1900: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=4945 And Dusty bats him second. I really should just become an A's fan and dump the Cubs. It's not worth getting angry like this.
  20. This blows. I'm having to listen to the game on XM because of this useless blackout. I'm not happy. I live in Nashville, TN, and I'm blacked out on MLB.TV because Nashville is considered a home market for Cincy, which is 300 miles away. :(
  21. Eats crow :D Just because Neifi came through doesn't mean it was a good move. Neifi hit into double plays last year at a near league-leading rate.
