  1. I think is busy playing for the Jays. Wishful thinking on my part. That Aaron is reasonably good at baseball.
  2. Oh, great. Not only did he choose Miles to bat... but he asked him to hit and run, which is a horrible percentage play. I was joking - I don't think that's really what was going on - but you never know with Lou, who probably calls for the hit and run in his sleep.
  3. Lou threw up his hands because Hill missed the hit and run sign.
  4. Theriot GIDP at a higher rate than Lee last year. Just sayin'.
  5. Again, we're only talking about a very limited number of premium seats. There are still Dugout Box seats available for Cubs games at $350 each. If they really wanted to be efficient, the Cubs and Yankees would lower the prices on their premium seats and raise prices on everything else.
  6. There was a single-game presale for ticket plan holders today. I tried to get tickets for 39 different games, but there were only five games that weren't sold out - except for the $900 seats.
  7. They picked a great time. Any sooner and they would have gotten less of a deal, any later and they wouldn't have gotten a deal. I suppose from that perspective. From the seat selling perspective, not so good. The article didn't make it very clear, but apparently the only seats available are $350 each. You have to buy at least an 11-game plan, so the minimum price you'll pay is $3850. And all 11 games are on weekdays. As far as non-$350 seats, they've sold so many season tickets this year that there may not be any tickets left for a single-game sale for the general public. They're having no trouble selling seats. They're just finding it difficult to convince people to pay $3800 for great seats to crappy games.
  8. Theriot hit into double plays at a higher rate last year. He just didn't have as many opportunities.
  9. It's important to coordinate and communicate if you involve friends, but it is the way to go. Today we got: 4/13 Rockies 4/18 Cardinals 6/13 Twins 6/16 White Sox 6/17 White Sox 6/18 White Sox 6/20 Indians 6/21 Indians 7/10 Cardinals 7/12 Cardinals Wish we could have gotten 7/11, but we didn't like the seats that were available when we got in.
  10. http://www.stubhub.com/new-york-yankees-tickets/yankees-vs-cubs-4-3-2009-758752/ Plenty of seats available for $100, and this is before the flood of tickets that will be made available to the public. There's not going to be a flood of tickets made available to the public. The Yankees have sold more season tickets than you might think, and there's not going to be a lot left over for single game sales.
  11. See Chris Dial's Offense Plus Defense for the AL here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p9BODtOllD4u0JrhtbUmILA&gid=1 Ibanez was terrible defensively, almost completely negating his bat. As for Dunn, he wasn't that bad defensively before the trade, but after he went to Arizona, his bad defense did negate his bat.
  12. This is true. For those with money, there were front row seats available at $200 each when I checked this morning. That's a little rich for me, but there are probably some here who could afford it. I've got 4 tickets left now, so there's still time for anyone who wants to go to PM me. I just realized that my post could've been taken as "eff cheapseats and his tickets, go buy better ones." Sorry if it did come off that way; I didn't mean for it to. Oh no, I didn't take it that way at all. I think it's right to point out that some of the premium seats are still available. Also, the person who gave me the tickets screwed up ROYALLY. He told me he was giving me tickets for the 11th, but he actually sent me tickets for tonight's game. Mods, feel free to lock this thread if you wish.

  14. A friend just gave me eight tickets to the Cubs/Cards game on Sept 11, but I can't use them all on such short notice. If anyone wants to go to the game, you can have as many as you want at face value. The seats are in Pavilion Reserve 371 and they're $25 each. You can pay me via PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account, we can arrange something else. The tickets are Print at Home, so I can send them to you right away. Post here or send me a PM if you want tickets. First come, first served.
  15. "God Bless America" is an incredibly crappy song.
