  1. Another question: If we have 16 teams (distinct possibility) would you rather have 4 divisions with champions only making playoffs, or 2 divisions with champions and 2 wild cards make it in?

  11. Hi fellas! Happy to report that the new league is up, and that you should have received an email inviting you in. IF you are asked for a password, it is a1s2d3f4. The scoring system is taking shape, and Mooch has offered to co-commish the league with me. I will say up front that I will still make you absurd trade offers, but as a commish, I will be active and fair, and always listening to how we can improve the league. One thing for us to work on is rosters. With so many new players, we simply cannot just give away abandoned teams (especially since we are adding up to four new ones.) However, I know that some of you have worked really hard on your rosters, and I want to allow some of that work to be rewarded. Here are my thoughts on how: 1. We cannot allow the current draft order to be carried over. Simply does not work. All teams will regain all draft picks in 2009. 2010 will be reviewed, in case any players are kept that affected 2010. 2. I am suggesting that every team get to keep 5 Major leaguers and 2 Minor leaguers. 3. All keeper rules will remain the same. The 1800 point total will likely change as the scoring system makes it obsolete, and there will be a limit to number of players who can be kept (so that teams like Dawg Pound don't have 33 keepers as he did...), but we will all determine that together, by vote. 4. If you have scoring suggestions, please PM me with them. 5. This league will take shape quickly, so I will need your input quickly on things like your roster, your draft availability, scoring suggestions, etc. Please let me know soon! Thanks! Looking forward to a new season. I will get you payment info ASAP. It will be $14 each. The reason is that it will allow us to use the extra this year and next to give the 4 Playoff teams next year free entry in 2010. THis is something that a couple of you suggested, and I think it is a wonderful idea. You can paypal me or send cash or check. Let me know how you want to pay, and I will get you the info. I will also ask about cleaning up this forum and granting access to new members.
  12. I have The Logan, CubbieBum, and Kyle RJM also interested. I need email addresses ASAP.
  13. Kyle, Bum, Logan... I need your emails, please. I will get invites mailed soon.
  14. So, as it stands, I have 5 new owners interested (2 NSBB members, 3 from a Rivals site), and from our current league, I have heard from: myself Dawg Pound Whitesoxaholics Jiddy Slainte SoCal Roady Still waiting to hear from: MM Goo Raw BronxDSB's I'd like 2 firm yeses from this group, and we're done. Also, if you have other friends who are interested, I will listen. I just need to know this week. I want to fill in the league by this weekend.
  15. The only problem is that I've never seen a free league that offers keeper rules. You'd lose your team at the end of the year, and have a lot to keep up with over the offseason. I like the idea of charging a little extra and letting the winner play free the next year. I'd even be up for trying to find a way to reward the top 3, as well.
  16. Great. I'll be in touch once we've finalized all the details. (Should be later this week.)
  17. I do not like Yahoo at all. Just a preference thing, I guess. If we take enough people to the new league on CBS, which is already set up, we can have people keep their current teams, have new owners take over abandoned teams, and have an expansion draft for two new owners. That would mean everyone getting their teams legal ASAP and getting the new teams drafted with time to spare before the league draft. Or, we could start from scratch, which sucks for people who have worked to get their teams set up the way they like. I am also open on scoring suggestions, and will want input from all members of our current league who plan t stay intact.
  18. I now have 6 interested owners. Not all will work out, just by law of averages. But, if 4 will, and we keep 10 of us together, we have a new league ready to go. I need to know who (from here) has interest, just in case Tim doesn't start this back up.
  19. I'll put you on the list of potentials, CubbieBum.
  20. I have 2 new owners interested. If 9 or 10 of us from the current league wanted to stay intact, we're only about 2-3 people from beginning. I need to know what some of you are thinking. The league is set up, now we simply need commitments from owners and feedback on how you'd like to restart.
  21. So, with a couple of feelers being put out on the potential of starting a new league (which I sincerely hope does not have to happen...), I was wondering a couple of things... To make it more fair for new owners (especially if we were to expand the league to 14 teams), would anyone be interested in an expansion draft, further limiting the number of keepers we're allowed? It would only be a one time thing, as more than 14 teams would seem like far too many to keep the rosters interesting. So, any interest, or would you rather just keep your current roster as is, and find owners to just assume current teams that have owners who want out? Basically, do you want to continue this league as is, or do you want a blank slate that we can work together on? I'd be willing to do whatever is needed to continue this league or begin a new one. I just would be interested in knowing who else is on board.
  22. So, here is the deal. Several of us have been part of an NSB Fantasy Keeper league on CBS for a few years now. It is a head to head league, and the keeper rules have been taking shape over the years. Overall, it has been a fun league. That said, it looks tenuous at best for this league to continue. It has not been renewed by the Commish, and many of us are unsure of why that is the case. Some of us would like to continue with a league of this sort, but would need some new (and committed) blood to make it happen if a new league indeed must be formed. It is a league setup that would likely cost between 10-15 bucks per year, but it is a pretty well maintained league and is quite enjoyable. So, if there were 2-6 openings, are there any folks out there that would have interest? We're talking a 35 man roster (25 Major leaguers, 10 minor leaguers, and some sort of DL) with a head to head schedule and flexible governing system (meaning that league owners would get to vote on all rules and rule changes, including scoring). I am not willing to guarantee anything right now, as I think we'd all be for our current league being renewed. If it is not, however, I'd be willing to follow this path to see if we can get another dynasty/keeper league organized. Please post if you have interest.
  23. Is it odd to anyone else that a Mormon kid picked a Catholic school for college? I'm sure it's not the first time, but it seems a bit odd to me. Not many Domers leave for a Mormon mission, ya know.
  24. Yes, it is Jake (sorry... late, late night for me!). I haven't heard about the Mormon mission- not even the first mention of it. Heaps and Simms appear to be early targets. You can bet that Kiffin and Co will try to get into the door with the top QB's in 2010. As expected both of those young men are going to be hotly contested for. But another couple of kids Tennessee should at and prolly will offer will be Terrance Broadway of LSU country and should be a 5 star QB and a top 10-15 player next yr. Another is Justin Maclin from Tenn. Now I don't expect to land Mac;in but I expect CNS to fight for him. I haven't heard of either, but Kiffin absolutely will not for any reason recruit a mobile QB. He turned away a fully committed Tajh Boyd because he was mobile, so I don't think talent means much to him. If both of those guys are pro-style guys, I'd say he'll be in on them. Alot to respond to.... Justin Maclin is not a QB, but will be a Top 5 player in TN in 2010. High on TN's radar. LB, iianm. Boyd was not just a mobile QB, but one who needs ACL reconstruction. That played into the decision, I think. Heaps will likely take the Mormon mission, making him a priority, but not the top priority. I think it goes: Sims, Montana, Heaps, Blake Bell. (FTR, Rivals is saying early that the 2010 QB class is not very good. Not a Matt Barkley among them. The top QB's will be HOTLY contested in 2010, and UT's depth chart should be extremely attractive.) If Heaps signs, expect UT to push for another Top 10 QB. Alabama got a commitment from a Memphis kid today. Name escapes me, but should be a Top 20 TN kid in 2010.
