Maybe they took their multi-year deal off the table because he wasn't getting enough interest from other teams and they can hire him at a one year salary?

My feelings exactly. Just because the Oline depth is weak doesn't mean we can avoid taking one until the 2nd or 3rd round. With two players gone, it is an extreme need that will improve the play of the whole offense. Even is 'Shard were able to play right out of the gate, he would do terribly with our offense line.
