  1. Perhaps off topic, but why so much confidence in Sheets or Wood vs. Rolen? I personally don't have a lot of confidence in either Rolen or Aramis playing 150 games this year. I want David Wright. :( Or Miggy Cabrera :( I actually like Wright better. Though I'd be happy with either one, of course. How come? I like Miggy's ability to play multiple locs and he is a better hitter and younger.
  2. C Molina or Valentin vs the Cubs pitching. 1B DLEE 2B Weeks SS Oh Jeez...Hardy 3B Pujols I am sure he could still play it OF Berkman OF Bay OF Dunn SP Z SP Roy SP Prior SP Carp SP Capuano I don't care about bullpens with that staff and hitting we won't need one.
  3. I thought so too. It wasn't the best angle, but it certainly looked like a jump ball to me. I thought the reach in they called on Brown in the last minute was also pretty questionable though. If we guarded the tree at all in the second half it wouldn;t have mattered. You cannot let a good shooting team shoot uncontested threes on the road and expect to win. We are gonna get knocked out early in the tourny if we don't pick up the defensive intensity.
  4. We suck. The refs really hurt us on Randle's last foul. Horton played awesome.
  5. Sweet Neifi is our two hole hitter. A lot of sac bunts.
  6. Haluska is a guard. Plain and simple, he is not a small forward. Comparisons on their respective abilities should not be made since they play completely different roles with their teams. I don't care what you said about Brunner last week, it doesn't pertain to me or this conversation. I don't care what other Hawkeye fans said about Dee, it doesn't pertain to me or this conversation. I'm not "ripping" anyone, just pointing out that Randle hung onto the rim for too long (with nobody under him, as you claim) and was lucky he did not get a T called. You seem to take everything that does not put the Illini on a pedestal personally, and it's really getting old. Right I think we have played like crap for two straight weeks. I have no problem with anyone saying that. We have. That said we went 2-2 during that span. Unfortunately the one loss at home to penn state probably cost us the big ten. I think anytime your hawkeyes are questioned you get mad, it doesn't bother me. I enjoy it, it is refreshing to see people stand up for them after living there the past two years everyone ripped them in basketball. It is nice to see that the fans are starting to get back behind them.
  7. Take off the orange glasses for a moment. There was nobody anywhere near him. He wasn't hanging on to spare someone below. And what the hell does Haluska have to do with any of this? No one near him. Do you see the picture. Right after the dunk Marco froze right under him. WOW! Yes people have said he was a better athlete than Randle. I don't care what color Haluska is I think he is a good athlete, but not in the class that Randle or Doug Thomas are. 1) I saw the play live 2) I saw the subsequent 82 replays 3) Nobody was under him 4) When have I ever mentioned Haluska? Should I compare Greenway and Hodge to LBs Illinois had last year to you? That would be the same argument. 5) You're comparing a 6'5" guard to a couple of 6'8" forwards. Haluska is a small forward, like Luther Head was last year. Plus I love how Illinois fans take every opportunity to rip Iowa players, yet I stated Brunner would have been big ten mvp last week. yet every hawkeye fan rips on dee brown becuase of his numbers this year. well numbers ain't everything every coach in the big ten would take dee brown over there starting point guard. every single one of em.

  9. I feel the same way for old Pujols. But, only when we are playing you. Otherwise I admire his hitting. Carlos Zambrano is great. I have liked him since I wrote him way back in the minors and he wrote me a little note back, I have no idea what it says, but he signed the card.
  10. No charge, but he's lucky there wasn't a T called for hanging on. Nah he had to Marco was underneath his feet. Still I wanna see the great athlete Haluska do that!
  11. Yep, that's exactly it. I'm guessing you have very little idea as to what actually happened and Steve's role in the entire situation. Well reguardless of what really happened, that is what people outside of Iowa think of him.
  12. the player of the year is Greg Brunner.
  13. Yeah that and Thomas is just murdering Davis with no calls being made.
  14. Good lord the refs are letting Doug Thomas murder Paul Davis. and of course Iowa is already in the bonus. Typical Carver Hawkeye game.
  15. Having both of our catchers in it will be a little odd, who's catching spring training games? Other than them and Lee who else is playing in it from the Cubs? Maybe we'll call in Jose Macias as our emergency catcher. As for who else is playing - I know Z is planning on pitching for Venezuela, but I believe those are the only four. whoops lol I cant believe I forgot Zambrano, of course. which pretty much means they are going to win, after all they have Z and Santana??? Isn't Aramis playing?
  16. They were my National Championship pick at the beginning of the year, making me look smart right now. They haven't convinced me that much. I could see a final 4 run, but they're too 3 reliant without the D to support off nights. maybe they wont be when Sumpter gets back.
  17. So all the fans know it, now the coach knows it, how many more years until the AD gets it?
  18. Unless you need a sac fly. He just delivers homeruns in those situations. selfish player. :P
  19. Yeah and the thing is the guy(Matta) can flat out caoch too. With that kind of talent coming in it seems unfair.
  20. Same way there football team does it. I leave the rest to you to figure out. They might not win it next year, after all they will all be freshman. But, after that they will. The year after the thad 5 he already has 2 more 5 stars.
  21. Ohio State is crazy. No team should shoot like that two games in a row. Bruce Weber for the second year in a row was outcoached by Thad Matta. They were beating our guys to the spots on offense, it was as if they knew the offense better than our own players. Why didn't Pruitt play more in the second half? He was who got Dials in foul trouble. Smith and Frazier both need to play more than McBride. Oh yeah and after watching Eric Gordon a couple of times, he is better right now than anyone we have, including Dee.
  22. Many have wondered the same thing about Alford. Say what you want but, previous to this year he didn't produce alot, had a scandal with Pierce, and lost his fan base. The reason Quin stayed was the same Alford has. It costs money to get rid of these guys. I know they have and that's why I wanted to hear from some of the Mizzou fans (some of whom seem level-headed) now that he's gone. There were tons of ridiculous rumors about Alford including skipping out on bills for his new house, being a jerk to people in the city and that his wife supposedly was filing for divorce after finding him cheating. I've heard a lot of strange ones about Snyder (drugs, relationships) and never really put any stock into them, but was wondering what they had to say about it or how prevalent they are in Mizzou. As far as comparisons between the two, Alford has been consistently mediocre where Quin had some very good times early and some very bad times lately. Alford has never had a losing record and doesn't have the recruiting base Snyder did. But they both were hyped up as the next great young coaches when they were hired and both have failed to take their team to the next level. They both also have been polarizing figures in their fan base although I would say Alford has had a little more support. I don't know all of the specifics on Clemens and the problems Snyder had, but Alford has never had a sniff of problems with the NCAA much less any probation. The Pierce situation was out of his control and it wasn't just his decision to bring him back. Yeah those were almost all crap, one of my buddies was the guy who did Alford's house. Said he was a great guy to work for and didn't mention any of this other crap I heard.
  23. Those aren't the rumors that people are talking about. And the most recent recruiting sanctions are a joke. Mizzou got harsh penalties for doing the same thing, something with phoning a recruit's mother, that it was found out(through said mother) several other schools did without penalty. You were punished because of proximity to Kansas.
