  1. Iowa should be praying that he leaves for Mizzou, this year is gonna be tough for them anyways so they might as well start a new. I just wonder who would take the Iowa job right now. I thought McDermott would make the most sense. I wonder if Altman even sees Iowa as a step up at this point. I mean Creighton is in the tourny every year and would have been this year if it hadn't lost its best player.
  2. If kentucky wins this I think I maybe physically sick.
  3. Yeah noted Illini fans CubsfaninCA and Outshined_One really let them have it. it was a joke. relax. Enjoy the spring while you anticipate another fabulous Illini football campagin. Yeah enjoy the summer while the Cubs suck again. As the injuries start to pile up it really makes me happy Illinois got beaten out so soon.
  4. Yeah I actually thought about that game today too, I just had a bad feeling that this could be the end. I just wish the officiating would have been a little more even, but hell if it was last year we are the defending champs and this doesn't hurt as much. I really wish that Deron would have been able to come back and end his career with Dee and James. Funny that out of that class Kyle Wilson is still playing while the other guys are all done. I can honestly say that it chokes me up a little to think that it is all over for Dee and James. They were so valueable to our program. Especially Dee, he could have bailed on us after what Self did, but he stayed and was proud to wear our jersey. I only wish more Chicago kids had his pride.
  5. Why did we quit going to James Augustine? He was unguardable. On a side note I wanna thank James and Dee. These were two Illinois kids who represented the university well all four years. They didn't have to go play for rat face or unc or dollar bill. They thought the state school was good enough for them and they will always be heroes for it. I hope the Sherron Collins and Julian Wrights of the world realize what they gave up in their home state to lose with B3 every year.
  6. I am from Peoria and couldn't be happier. Now I get to tell all the Kansas fans I live near they are lucky they only played the third best team from Illinois this year.
  7. Fairleigh Dickinson - that was exciting for a little while exciting isn't exactly the word I would have used at the time to describe it.
  8. Yeah nice math on my part.
  9. Illinois and its not close. We will destroy UW before we shock the world in the elite eight.
  10. and now they have evacuated one of the tourny sites buildings.
  11. All early in the season, though. Teams are much different by this point in the year. I think Gonzaga goes out early. Gonzaga might have been better off dropping one of those close games along the way. The close vistories over bad teams do not excite me about their chances to go far. Until Few decides to put an emphasis on Defense they are never going to do too much.
  12. one of them is getting married this summer, it will be fun to be able to talk to the family of the bride. He is alos a UNC fan who let me have it last year. Paybacks are hell.
  13. Ok this is really messed up but it made me laugh a little and after the news yesterday that is a good thing. In college when Wood had his surgery my friends found out about it before I did while watchign sportscenter while I was sleeping. They then went to Target and bought a Kerry Wood poster and hung it up in my room with a little scar on his elbow. Well low and behold today I get an email with a doctored photo of Mark Prior with a scar on his shoulder and a big fork in his back. I know it isn't funny, but I couldn't help but laugh. One of these years these two guys will be healthy. I just wonder who it will be for. Bill Pullsipher and Jason Isringhausen JRs.
  14. Don't brackets have to be in before the play-in game (that started 20 minutes ago)? Not in the one I do. Being as no one gives two farts about monmouth.
  15. How come we couldn't ever get decent major leaguers who could consistantly hit .300 for minor league pitching when that was all we had to offer a few years ago? Too reluctant to trade the pitching. Now most of that pitching has been injured and/or didn't pan out. I blame the scouting dept who hasn't been able to help Hendry recognize when to make a trade or not. The Cubs haven't traded a minor leaguer at their peak value yet. Sanchez? Beltran? Justin Jones, Brendan Harris, and Frankie Beltran for Murton and Nomar seemed like a pretty good job of selling high.
  16. Interesting theory, but if you are a top ten team all year you shouldn't have to play a number 1 seed as quickly as Illinois or GW has too. If you don't agree with that logic you are crazy.
  17. Yep and every single bracket a few years ago had the machine that was UNLV winning it all, sadly they took the money and threw the game to Duke. I love the tournament. The fact that anyone can knock off anyone is just awesome. UCONN could have to go through Kentucky, Illinois, and MSU/UNC that ain't no cakewalk.
  18. I am still so pissed about the seeding that I haven't even looked at my bracket yet. I will on Wednesday night. I usually do pretty well. Although the last few years were pretty easy as there were some clear cut dominate fans. That and because of the hours I work I am allowed to watch a lot of college basketball so I know a lot about even some of the lesser known teams.
  19. If my KU vs Syracuse or Cubs '03 experience is a an accurate barometer, never. Yeah the Cubs one I have pretty muched blocked out. But, then every year since then someone has had to end their drought making me think it was our turn and we just pissed it away because we had to pitch to Mike Lowell becuase we didn't want Lenny Harris to beat us in game one. Thank you Dusty. The KU one, sheesh you have already won once in your lifetime and are very good every year. Some of us have to seize the day more than others. Well, I'm from Chicago originally, and I wasn't a KU fan until I went there (93-97), so the 88 championship "doesn't count" the way the 'Cuse loss would have. But it is nice to feel like we have a chance more often than not. I can feel that as I was really to young to enjoy what the Flying Illini was doing. I thought every year would be like that, boy was I wrong. I guess I was just young and dumb enough to think that since we were so close to Chicago we would just always reload.
  20. Hopefully when Illinois lands a great 2007 recruiting class and they play together for two years. Even though that UNC game sucks (mostly because I think Illinois played really bad in the first half), that Arizona game is still one of my favorite all time memories of college basketball. Well that depends if D. Rose wants to be a legend in his state like Dee Brown, or just some other great player like Corey Magette who went elsewhere. Now I realize that Magette is a much better player, but to the state of Illinois Dee is beloved.

Thank you Dusty. The KU one, sheesh you have already won once in your lifetime and are very good every year. Some of us have to seize the day more than others. Hell, I still haven't gotten over '84 and '89, I firmly believe the NL's best team was not represented in the '84 and '89 WS. The Cubs were so close in '03, however, at least, the NL's best team was represented in that WS (even though it pains me to write it). Yeah true. Florida was stacked. Stupid Miguel Cabrera being ready that young.

  23. I could see all three making the final four. If we get past Uconn either us or MSU could make it. You guys have a good draw and could beat Duke assuming the referees allow anyone to attempt to guard Redick  Although I get the feeling they might get the same treatment they did for Battier's senior year. Ohio State could also easily make the final four. How sweet would that be? I would gladly play the winner of you to for the national championship game.
  24. Yes luckily for Illinois fans our best team ever had to be in a year with a professional team in NC. That team was loaded and I really think if Deron or Luther's three would have fallen to take the lead just once we would have won. They were ready to go away, but we couldn't land the knock out punch. I wonder how long it will take until that game stops hurting?
  25. The bottom 4 teams in the Big East are worse than any of the 11 in the Big Ten. Rutgers is worse than everyone but Purdue. That's why the Big 10 is a better conference. Inside sources tell me that DePaul beat 5-seed Syracuse by over 30 points just two weeks ago. I'd wager that Purdue can't beat anyone in the Big Ten, and probably not anyone in the major conferences outside the basement teams, by that much even on their very best day. And St. John's and Providence are no slouches either. Of course, since these conferences don't tangle that much, we can really just throw around numbers. The Big 10 went 6-4 against the Big East this year 6 wins: Illinois over Rutgers Illinois over Georgetown Michigan over ND Michigan over USF Northwestern over Seton Hall Wisconsin over Marquette 4 losses: UConn over IU DePaul over Northwestern Pitt over Penn St Pitt over Wisconsin Most of those games went exactly how they should. The Big Ten went 3-2 in the 5 games between teams of relatively equal strength (in italics). Personally, I'll stick with the Big East because of UConn and Nova...but to each their own. Well then after we dispose of UCONN in the sweet sixteen you will see how our third best team beat your first. Purdue is an extreme case because of injuries. They lost their entire starting lineup sans Kiefer. Lets take away 4 of Villanova's top 5 and I wonder how many big east games they win.
