  1. The ball that was hit off his elbow wasn't Dusty's fault. But I really wonder how you think overwork is tied to injuries. I used to think that fatigue itself was a problem, and all an overworked starter needed was rest. The research shows that's not true; fatigue causes a pitcher to change his mechanics, and throwing one pitch with bad mechanics can do irreperable damage. Anyway, it's entirely possible that Prior's injury history means he'll never pitch the same way again, and no amount of rest or passing time will make a difference. We can't arbitrarily say that he should be fine since it's been a few years. I definitely agree with that. I also think it's still a psychological thing also. Kerry and him are in the same boat; wondering when they are going to get hurt next so they can expect to be on the DL. If the same happens to Z I think I may stop watching baseball.
  2. He has absolutely no confidence anymore in his stuff. He lost that in 2003 after Game Six of the NLCS. He's never been the same. Or Dusty pitched his arm off. Take your pick. a little bit of both i think.
  3. DLEE will be a big league hitter when he returns, Pierre is a big leaguer.
  4. That's funny because I could probably explain it to him in 100 words or less. I am thinking of sending jim a couple of books this offseason. moneyball and bill james baseball abstract.
  5. Yep. He said anyone who follows the game knows there's nothing wrong with the team that can't be fixed. And I believe that. The problem is getting rid of himself is one of the major steps necessary to make things better. I can't see fixing this team in less than three years. Serious damage has been done. Zambrano is so abused he could easily be next.
  6. Offense is overrated. We will win this game with our d.
  7. no jim the answer is never glendon. mark prior sucks.
  8. nice play ronny you will be welcomed in Iowa in a week. :pukel:
  9. We have spent a lot of our time, effort, and hard earned mony cheering for this baseball team which is currently terrible. Laughing stock of baseball bad and you are suprised that this message board is negative. I am all for getting a good defensive player, but not at the cost of losing OBP. something this team needs more than anything. Hendry is doing his best to turn us into a dead ball era team that doesn't take walks.
  10. Well that could explain the past two years. seriously. the way he is moving his mouth and how he is sweating right under his nose are typical of a person on cocaine. people high on cocaine also sweat alot overall. *shrug* I just, wow. I mean I thought they couldn't possibly hurt the future with today. I mean they weren't buying. At this point why don't they just say F U to the fans and give Z to the Cardinals? It would be a lot easier for all of us Cubs fans to quit then.
  11. Noooooo, the Las Vegas 51's are much better than the Cubs. Hey, I never said AAA. I doubt they have anyone better than Z.
  12. I think we may have just become the Dodgers minor league team.
  13. I keep waiting for rock bottom. It has to be close.
  14. The reports I've seen haven't mentioned any minor leaguers at all. I have not heard about any minor leaguers as well. Its just Izturis for Maddux so far. With each update seeming worse I am afraid we will be giving them minor leaguers before long.
  15. The reports I've seen haven't mentioned any minor leagures at all. Same here. It appears the deal is Maddux + 2 million for Izturis. so we gave away a pitcher and took on 6+ million, for nothing. less than nothing. for a guy who will hurt the chances of winning a ball game. How much do you think Handry would pay me a year to run around kicking Cubs' fans in the balls? It seems 2 mil is about right.
  16. Jim Hendry is just terrible. Not only did we get worse, we paid them a million to get worse.
  17. Yep. Neifi starting at 2nd from now until the end of 2007 is the odds on favorite result of this deal, by a wide margin. No I think this signals we will go after Soriano this offseason hard. Maybe they'll go hard, but like with most big name free agents, they'll come up short. That will probably be a good thing though as Soriano will get way more money than he should. I agree on all points, although it is depressing to know Jim will never have the stones to get a great player.
  18. The Yankees are just raking in players for nothing. I hate Jim Hendry.
