  1. Good stuff. Seriously though, does it go back in history? I would like to know where Deron rates as opposed to other successful point guards at a very young age. I would imagine better than Chauncey Billups did at the same point and he turned out ok.
  2. Seriously? That's a really small sample and a poor way to compare the two. How so? I just prefer Hollinger's PER stat over your college-attended metric. :) Yeah, but college attended is pretty important. Much more so than some number system put in place by some guy. Jeesh me and Dick Vitale are through trying to reason with you buddy.
  3. I think you're underestimating Hinrich's talents. He's a solid NBA starting guard. Duhon's the player that has no business in a starting lineup, but that's on Skiles to fix. Paul is an elite PG at 21. The sky's the limit with him. You're wearing some serious homer goggles if you think Deron's in his class. Look at their numbers when matched head to head. Paul's team has yet to win a game, including college :). I think you are selling Deron short also. Duhon sucks. I don't see what people have seen in him dating back to when he was a top 5 player in high school.
  4. Clearly Shelden Williams wins. No contest. Also, don't forget Popeye Jones. And this thread weirds me out. It seems like it's mostly people just talking about their own teams, with no one really responding. Maybe it's just that I'm so used to talking about the Cubs with other people who want to talk about the Cubs on this board, I don't know. Also, the Tar Heels rule. Raisin, it's too bad we won't play in the regular season. I'd really like to see a UCLA-Carolina matchup. I kind of hate that, in order to stay competitive for the tournament, teams have to fill their schedule with powder puff games. No they don't. Ohio State played at Unc and Florida Texas A and M played both UCLA and LSU Kansas played Florida Texas played LSU Hell even Duke played a D1 school this year Gonzaga, at a "neutral site"
  5. Did you just accuse me of being a homer? That's hilarious. No way we're having this conversation if Deron had attended a different college. Williams would be an improvement over Hinrich. Not a huge improvement, and certainly not worth a number one pick in additional to Kirk in a trade. Oh I am a homer, don't get me wrong. I am not making any arguments for Frank Williams or Brian Cook though. I just think Hinrich is a great back up guard for a playoff team. I don't think he is a true 1 or 2 and it is really hard to play him and Gordon at the same time. There are a few guys I would rather have than him, Paul not being one of them(sorry but he can't guard a chair). I agree about not including the number 1 pick to get Williams.
  6. I don't think Oden will turn pro, but Durant is a nice fall back option. Oden needs to stay. He is so limited with only having his left hand. Plus it is good for the college game. Durant is great.
  7. Probably, but it's close. I think their PER's will be very close by season's end, and Hinrich's a better defensive player. Besides, it's not like the Bulls drafted Hinrich instead of Williams. Neither one is Chris Paul; that's for certain. Oops, Utah. No, it really isn't close. Deron Williams is a far superior defender to Kirk Hinrich, a better playmaker, and might end up being the better shooter. Chris Paul is good, but Utah got who they wanted. Paul would have a hard time playing for Sloan, what with having to play defense and all. The notion that Williams is a better defensive player than Hinrich is laughable, and the difference between Paul and Deron is greater than the difference between Deron and Kirk. Right because after all Hinrich plays for Skiles and the Bulls so he has to be the better defender. Deron Williams is the better basketball player and would help the Bulls a lot more than Hinrich does.

  9. Hinrich frustrates me to no end. trade him for Deron Williams I'd love to. Utah would hang up though without including the draft pick.

  11. Any chance that Eric is ranked lower because of what Corey did ordidn't do after being ranked so high?
  12. It is a freaky sight.... That one always hushs the crowd.
  13. I wasn't overly impressed the few times I was able to see him play in person this year. He really stunk it up against some bad AA pitching, that said it was a small sample size. Oh and even if he does pan out, ANA probably won't let him take over full time until he is 30. See Kotchman, Casey or McPherson, Dallas.
  14. I would imagine he would mail it in blank.
  15. Didn't Cal have a 0.00 era? I wonder how he compares to the other great SS's? Sorry the era in which he played. Better? I was just teasing about the usage of era! Who do you consider to be the best ever SS's? Honus Wagner hands down. Then another Pirate Arky Vaughn. I would say A-Rod would challenge these two, but he had to be a Yankee.

  17. I like Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee's production. They are a direct result of Bobby Hill and Hee Seop Choi so I wdon't find it depressing at all. The only bothersome part would be Don Baylor's choice to keep Jason Bere in the rotation over Juan Cruz. Wow, Jason Bere. Now there's a name you shouldn't bring up in mixed company. . . or at all for that matter. Ha, I actually thought I would get hammered more for bringing up Don Baylor. Luckily Dusty made most of us forget about the damage Don did.
  18. nice
  19. I wouldn't vote for Cal either. I think he should go in, but to be the only unanimous choice you should be thought of as the best ever. IMO Cal is not even in that type of conversation. But, to leave him out because of his era is equally moronic.

  21. Delmon still counts as they held him out of some games at the end last year so he could take a shot at rookie of the year this year.
  22. in the minor leagues today to build around. Or a guy who still qualifies as a rookie. Who do pick? I ask just to see what everyone says. I think it will help me settle a friendly argument I have with some friends at work. I go with Alex Gordon
  23. That's Big Ten refs for ya. Illinois just played a horrible game. Their perimeter D was just horrid and offensively they continue to stuggle. I wasn't really impressed with Oden today, but that's also because Pruitt did a pretty decent job against him. I was VERY impressed with OSU's guards, they really get streaky from 3 pt land. The Wisconsin-OSU matchup in Madison on tuesday will be awesome. Badgers about to take on Minny, should be a good game for the Badgers. I think at one point OSU's guards were 9-12 3pters. Illinois doesn't even have one player who would get a scholarship at OSU. I really wish Thad Matta would have been the guys we picked to replace Self. And this once again is ridiculous. You're trying to say that Illinois's best player would be Ohio St.'s 13th best. There's no need to exaggerate to point out how bad this team has been playing. Sorry let me rephrase that. Not one of our players would make a dent in their rotation.
