  1. Huggins has only had the chance to recruit, what, 2 or 3 players so far, and one of them has already gotten ejected for straight up throwing a haymaker to the back of someone's head(and he also almost obliterated a chair when they came to Columbia). Huggins's past speaks for itself, he recruits thug athletes and if he makes the tournament he underperforms his seed. The main thing is he recruited those kids without any rules governing him either as he wasn't employed. You think he walked the straight line with Walker when no one was in charge of him? Who cares what he did, there were no rules against it. He was unemployed... he could go watch any players he wanted, and get them on his side. I for one love the tactic. Yes maybe because we landed Walker, so I'm biased, but who cares. :) Well it is not very ethical, so if he crossed the line there one would assume he has at other junctions as well.

  3. what a d-bag. That sounds awfully hollow after ND just took two recruits who had previously committed to Iowa and Louisville. Different situations. The Iowa recruit consisted pretty much of ND offering and him changing his mind due to the offer. The Louisville recruit was a coaching change, i.e. the coaching change that cost ND a bunch of recruits in 2004-05. However, ND's far from innocent of this. There's a Washington Post article today in which former QB coach Peter Vaas was pursuing Arrelious Benn pretty aggressively after he was committed to Illinois. Funny how it's almost always a different situation when ND is involved. Smith had been committed for almost 6 months and taken multiple visits. He helped recruit others to Iowa. The point is Charlie puts on a face for the cameras that he's all about committment and being honorable about them. He's upset that someone would back out of a committment to him. Yet he has no dilemna's when it comes to trying to snatch away commits from other schools, the very week before signing day. What a man of principle. I don't think many if any in the ND fanbase would consider Weis a "true man of principle". He is from the Belicheck school, that is for sure-and unfortunately, that means they cut certain corners to win. I think he is a great coach, but I'm not sure I like the man. Oh no, what did they do hire a bunch of guys as assistant coaches who are friends with a previously committed to another school's recruit? Now that would be a corner cut. You mean hiring a qualified assistant who happens to know the primary area to recruit very well, and so would be a big help to the program's stated desire (and the fanbase's biggest wish) to get in-state recruiting back to what it used to be? I was very happy with the hire, and didn't even know he was friends with that particular recruit until weeks later. Oh can't you read? I mean it was all over the news that he was best friends with IDKWTI's daddy? All of these coaches cut corners. Some are just better at it. I wish it were a level playing field. Yes, I can read-it probably just wasn't reported on the immediate hiring news, and being an Illinois fan, you didn't pay attention to an Indiana assistant coach being hired (why should you?) until the friendship came out. Touche, but I read about it on Rivals in one of their reports. Even they knew exactly what was going on.
  4. Mike Tisdale played 32 minutes and made lots of jump hooks and blocks with his left hand - 35 pts, 14 rebs, 14 blks. I hope this kid puts on enough weight to play some next year.

  6. I'd like to say that I completely approve of all of that. I'd like to say it's totally classless... so is hiring a lowlife like thuggins to lead a basketball program. When you hire someone like him, people are going to make jokes about it. LMAO! Like he's any more of a low life than half of the coaches out there. Give me a break. So, the guy got a DUI? So did I years ago, but does that make me a lowlife? It's all preception What's really funny is how you make such excuses for him, put your head in the sand and act like he's no different than anyone else. You're too much. When he was hired you had to ask us on this board about his past becuase you didn't know. But you're right. The whole basketball world is wrong but you K-State fans defending Huggins' character are right. Brilliant! If you weren't such an over-the-top apologist and homer, I doubt people would say as much. But you refuse to admit that the man is slimier than the majority of coaches out there. You refused to admit there was anything wrong with his recruiting of certain players and refused to admit that O.J. Mayo had any character problems until it was clear he wasn't heading to KSU. How convenient. Doesn't every fan base do this though?
  7. I love how when Duke is in the midst of a three game losing streak the announcers, Patrick and Vitale, have to fall all over themselves to stick up for the program. Down years happen at other places and these boobs don't do all they can to talk about how great the program has been. I hope they face plant early this year.

  10. If you are gonna win it you got to beat a great team or two at some point. Why not right away?
  11. 4 people in the dunk contest. WTF I really loathe David Stern. GIve us 8 dunkers again. Put up a million for the winners. Get Vince, LBJ, Kobe, Iggy, Jason Richardson, TMAC(although his back might be too gone), Shawn Marion, and Desmond Mason in it. This would at least make it must see TV again. Why did the stars during the '80s care more about this than the guys do now?
  12. Does Ryan Braun factor in this year at all? If he can take the third base job I really like their team.
  13. I think the offensive line of the Colts did a wonderful job and should have been the MVP. Grossman was the MVP. For all 4 of his turnovers.
  14. Well Duke was #10 coming into the week and lost both games this week to unranked opponents. They'll drop at least to the mid teens and anything short of winning out will prevent them from getting a #1 seed. ETA: And considering they are sitting at 5-4 in conference and still have to play North Carolina twice in the ACC, a 2 seed is unlikely at this point. I am sure they will find a way to get a 2. Vitale listed them as his first 2 the other night. Anything above a 4 for them is a joke. I seriously have seen at least 25 teams this year, who if you take out the officials, are clearly better than them.
  15. Duke loses again. Wonder how many games they have to lose to not be a 1 seed?
  16. As an aside, did anyone else hear Dukie V say during the aTm-KU game that Duke should be a 2 seed? Pure comic genius.
  17. I really think out of K's class though King is the weak link. Singler and Nolan Smith are great gets. Love is good, I saw him play against Gordon and Rose this summer and was real impressed with his ability to outlet the ball then beat it downcourt. He was a hell of a get for UCLA. Kent has to be sick to let that kind of talent leave the state this year. What does he think he is Bruce Weber missing on all the instate kids? :P
  18. Alford is doing a hell of a job with your team this year. Probably the best job he's ever done. Too bad nobody around here is noticing. Alford doesn't get noticed unless he's allowing accused sex offenders play on his team (and this is a rare year he isn't) Nothing about that post is remotely close to the truth. You know I used to think the same thing until I had the chance to talk to one of Steve's assistants in person. He claimed Steve was forced by the University to give the guy a second chance and thus he was really steamed when it happened again.
  19. Alford is doing a hell of a job with your team this year. Probably the best job he's ever done. Too bad nobody around here is noticing. Yeah a lot of my friends still live in Iowa City and they claim that attendance and interest is really bad. It is a shame really, he should be in consideration for coach of the big 10. Seriously with what he has coming back they should have been terrible, but they are actually very good now. It just took a while to get the pieces to fit together.

  21. I really hope you are right. I guess you have more confidence than me. I really wish someone, anybody would tell Brian Randle that night in night out he's the best athlete on the floor. For the most part, our guard play has sucked. And injuries have no part in the number of turnovers we have and our poor free-throw shooting. I'm glad Izzo didn't start fouling with 2 minutes left on Tuesday or we might have lost that game. I don't see how we win in Bloomington or Iowa City, though. Um why don't you try having your growing cut into then come back early. Then get the Pujols thing on your feet. Then I am gonna tell you to be athletic. He is hurt what do you expect from a guy who is hurt? He is giving us more than Wood or Prior have in their quarter seasons. Oh we beat them by scoring more than them. You're right about Randle, but I was saying this about him last year. He likely is only playing at 70% health, at best. It's been hard for us to win in Iowa City and Bloomington with some of our good teams. I don't see this team winning in either place... again, I hope I'm wrong. We have won 2 of the last 3 at both. It could happen. I think we get one of them. Just out of curiosity, I don't think the injuries we currently have will heal up significantly over the next two-three weeks, so why do you think we can win at Iowa or Indiana but couldn't win at Ann Arbor, at Xavier or at MSU? Because our guys are learning how to win on the road. Although these guys are sophs and juniors a lot of them didn't get much pt in the past. Warren Carter is really a sophomore with games logged. McBride a junior. Pruitt a Soph. You have to learn how to finish games. I also think Iowa is worse than all the teams you listed. Yes even Michigan who has the Amaker handicap.
  22. See, that's why I hate games like this. Everybody has already forgotten that Simeon beat #1 Oak Hill. Plus, Loyola shouldn't be the #2 team in Illinois. Plus, I don't think it's a 40 point game on a neutral court. Maybe a 25 point game instead? I think Simeon would give them all they want. Actually, I think three or four other Illinois high school teams would've been more competitive than Loyola. Richwoods also comes to mind and also has Cole who ESPN ranked as number 81. If they are going to go with made for tv games though it had to be simeon.
