  1. What, I will take that bet. I will even give you 1,000 to 1 odds. "If someone gives you 1,000 to 1 on anything, you take it. If John Mellencamp ever wins an Oscar, I am going to be a very rich dude." Thank you.
  2. Only righties we have on the bench are Cedeno and Blanco. Z
  3. Who would you pinch-hit with since Murton was already used? Cedeno? Zambrano or Marquis.
  4. Why are we letting Jacque face a lefty?

  6. The Cubs are about to lose 4 of their first 6 games at home to start the season. (Pretty sure if it wasn't for the postponed third game against the Stros, the Cubs would have been swept) Doesn't that just make you feel all tingling after what the Cubs did in the offseason. The Cubs players needs to "man up" and stop playing like first yr t-ballers. Yeah, I know what you mean. We should call the whole season a waste because we will lose 4 games at home, three without an all-star batter in the lineup. Heck, why would we want to cheer on the fact Cubs pitchers have given up one run in the last 22 innings? We can cheer that, and then think about how we wasted a great stretch of pitching.
  7. Damn lead off walk to phillips is gonna cost us. Go figure.
  8. Nah it will be David Weathers who cuts through our offense like a a knife through hot butter. Wish he coulda done that to other teams in '01 with the Cubs. Other teams take pitches and work the count. Making his crappiness appear. We just swing.

  10. I think that is why he has struggled.
  11. several of those are not hitting the outside corner The last strike 3 called on Lee wasn't even close. It's pretty tough to hit anything when blue is calling 6 inches off the plate away and a good 4 inches below the knees. Lee needs to at least try to foul it off though
  12. Jeff Brantley or tHom Brennaman? Thom I believe
  13. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score He would have been out by 20 feet. The ball was hit too hard. No he would't have. The Reds were conceeding the run, Freel didn't even throw to the plate. The Reds announcers said the same thing; they were surprised he didn't score. dude, you're wrong. just move on. No I'm not. Even the Reds guys were surprised he didn't score. In a game where runs are at a premium he should have been sent. Even the Reds guys? If an announcer says it then it must be true. If runs were at a premium wouldn't the strategy be to not run into a potential out at home plate with no outs? The same reds guy who yesterday said he loved how good Marty Barret was for the cubs.
  14. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score The rule of thumb that 3rd base coaches uses is this: If the ball gets to the OFer (in this case the CFer) before the runner even gets to third you hold the runner up. In this case Soriano was a good 3 steps away from 3rd when the ball got to Freel. Holding Soriano up there was the good call. Yeah, I don't think you can fault Quade for not wanting to risk a baserunner on third with nobody out and the best hitters in the lineup at bat. none of those guys have gotten a hit today. Quade did it right. Jacque and Lee are at fault here.
  15. Really? You do know it's Jackie Robinson day right?

Freel didn't throw it home because Theriot would've probably tried to take 2nd on the throw. Yes as angry as I am now, I would be even more so had we tried to score sori there and he been out.
