  1. Wait, when did the Angels get Cameron Maybin? :D Wait, when did Cameron Maybin learn to play SS? You do know Wood doesn't play short anymore, right?
  2. who was the inside threat in the last bulls dynasty? Both Jordan and Pippen were able to post up. Thus taking higher pecentage shots. No one one this current team can post up. Therefore, both Jordan and Pippen were inside threats. Just like at the deadline there was talk of the bulls trading for Bonzi Wells because he was a guard who could post up and could provide a consistent inside threat. How often do you see anyone on this team back someone down like Jordan and Pippen did? Yeah, if we start comparing this team to Jordan's Bulls we're going to find the '07 ballclub falls short in more than one way. I think we should all remember that this team is not done building yet. A few sportswriters have noted that we still have a good cap situation, and we're getting another lottery pick this year. In my mind I'll be happy if we can vanquish the Heat and then take the Pistons deep. I'm not holding out much hope of beating both of those teams in succession this year. If we did that, I would be incredibly shocked -- pleasantly so. But this ballclub's not going anywhere for awhile. I don't see us sinking downward for a few years. Regardless of what happens this year, we should be back and even stronger next year. I don't think you can say that about either the Heat or the Pistons. Both are getting older, not better. Yep the conference will be between us, Toronto, and Orlando in the next couple of years.

  4. Ok now that I understand. But, the posters hating the guy because he had a drug problem. That is ridiculous.
  5. We could do that trade, but I would rather work something out with LAA. Santana and Wood would be nice.
  6. I would love to have Chuck James on our team.
  7. That and McCann is going to be pinch hitting for the pitcher spot.
  8. Cedno has it. Three hits from him and he he still sucks. Three runs off of Hill and he jumps quite a bit. Both of those things could happen before the end of the year.
  9. Terrible play by DeRosa. Although he showed good range.
  10. i don't care what anyone says, i'll always root for sammy. he was out there putting on a show for the fans every day. Sammy was there for us Cubs fans when nobody else was... Real Cubs fans should be there for him now. seriously, during a game at wrigley back in 95 or 96, he sprints out of the dugout at the start of the game and every single fan down the right foul line stood up as he passed them. he proceded to take 6 balls out of his glove and toss them to fans in the right field bleachers. it was awe inspiring. that was a baseball player right there. He did that in KC after each inning. Then after the game the idiot ROyals fans threw them back at him in the 9th as a protest. You know cause he corked his bat. wow, what a bunch of jerks. i'm not a person who loves him blindly or makes excuses for what he's done or allegedly done, but he did a lot for baseball in chicago. we haven't done anything without him. That's why I don't feel badly for them when the Royals lose 110 games a year.
  11. We should have never done that deal with the Reds. he would have no where to play. would you rather have hamilton or murton? Josh Hamilton. As our CF with Murton and Soriano on the corners.
  12. We should have never done that deal with the Reds. 20/20 hindsight I think a lot of us thought it at the time.

  15. Not that the Pacers have made great deals recently, but the Bulls would either have to a) give up more or b) take on Tinsley or another bad contract along with O'Neal for the Pacers to accept that deal. That said, as a Pacer fan, I'd be very interested in some incarnation of O'Neal to the Bulls for young players/draft picks. Tyrus, Duhon, 10th pick for JO? I would absolutely do that. I think the Pacers would too. The problem with Nocioni as the centerpiece (and he was in the proposed deal) is that a) he basically plays the same position as the Pacers last two draft picks and most promising young players (Danny Granger and Shawn Williams) and b) when trading the face of a franchise which O'Neal is, you have to sell your fans on it and Nocioni isn't a sexy enough player I'm afraid. That said, I like him and would love to have him on the Pacers. I think the pacers would go for lessthan that. Just to get rid of JO as their max player. I really think Bird and Walsh would like to blow that team up and start over.
  16. I'm not pulling for him, thats for sure. What a waste. Why the hell wouldn't you be pulling for him? I think we have all made mistakes before. Some of these people commenting in this thread are unbelievable. A lot of good people fall into drugs, it doesn't need to be celebrated, but they also shouldn't be judged by a fellow human being for it. After all of you get done playing god take the time to realize he was a 20 year old kid who made some mistakes.
  17. I don't necessarily think that, but the NBA has shown a tendency to put poorer officials in a position to have to call a pivotal game for a team on the road. Bad officials tend to be swayed by home crowds. And if you don't think the officials-whether by league mandate or not-call a different game for certain players, I don't know what to tell you. sure they do. We benefited from that for a dozen years with jordan, who comitted offensive fouls almost every time he scored and never got called. I just grow weary of the knee-jerk "the refs lost us the game" excuse every game. Seriously, you never have played a second of organized basketball, have you? Just because his signature shot is one where he pushed off, doesn't mean he was charging/pushing off all the time. Sure he got the call if a guy breathed on him, but to say his scoring was because of being allowed to push off is ridiculous.
  18. Oh I don't think Cubs fans should be throwing rocks around in this particular glass house. After all Rich Hill with all, what, 9 career wins is better than Carlos Zambrano. the difference being that Rich Hill has been better than Carlos Zambrano for half a season now... and Carlos Zambrano is not the best pitcher in baseball Right. You really think anyone outside of a few Cubs fans believe this to be true? I love Rich Hill, but until I see him dominate like Z has for most of his career this is just silly. Whether Hill or Z will be better going forward is a matter of opinion, but right now (based on about the last half of last year and a few starts this year) Hill has been better. That doesn't mean Hill is a better pitcher than Z or will be in the future (maybe so, maybe not). But for the last 1/2 season or so, he has been. I don't see why that's so controversial. Ok well Z is younger. He has more room for improvement. :P
  19. Is there a reason for that? Because the Heat are the Champs and will have that entire team back for the playoffs. Heat will get all the calls. Heat will get all the pub. Heat have all the experience. I don't think it's going to be as bad as Heat in 5. I'm going to go Heat in 7. We lost the season last night, boys and girls. The game was absolutely that big. Even if we do manage to pass the Heat, the Pistons will be waiting in the 2nd round. We just blew it to hell. Terrible. and to think The Nets almost blew there team up at the deadline. Oh and when Vince "I am not trying here in Toronto even though I am making millions" Carter plays up there I hope he blows both of his knees out.

  22. Unreal. Hopefully nothing more comes from this.
  23. Is there a reason for that? Yeah they are better than us. That and they have DWade, who in the playoffs gets fouls called for him in the pregame warmup. We are like the Mariners were a few years ago, built for the regular season. We just don't have that go to guy who can get his own one on one and in the NBA playoffs you need that. So you're also a Heat in 5 guy? Nah I think it goes 7, but I got them in 7.
