  1. You would think so, but last year was a bizarro year for Sampson. They were toward the bottom of the league in defense but they had the best offense in the conference. I would guess whether that repeats itself or not will depend on their freshmen because their offense will be damn good. Those stats are a lot more indicative of the way the Big Ten plays than IU's lack of defense. How so? Everyone in the Big Ten plays good defense.
  2. Are you guys relying on 3's again this year? We're relying on bad coaching again this year. I hate Wainwright! I never liked the signing and I still don't. Why don't you guys through a ton of money at chris lowry? Because he's made it clear he's staying at SIU for the long haul. And #2, a move to DePaul would be a lateral move for him. I think I'm being lenient in that assessment. Yeah Bill Self was "in it for the long haul." Roy Williams was, "where he wanted to be." And no, although you are much better right now, you cannot offer the money or exposure that DePaul could in the big east.

  4. I put Rose at the top, then Mayo and then Beasley, but that's probably because I've always been a guard guy. Beasley is sort of the same deal as Mayo, as far as having incredible talent, but sometimes a lack of drive. He should be the top freshman in the Big XII and I wouldn't be shocked to see him make second team all-conference. I like Beasley, Mayo, Rose, then Gordon based on pure talent. I honestly think Gordon will be the best player this year and at the next level, based on what I have heard about his work ethic and basketball knowledge. Also, you shouldn't be shocked if Beasley is 2nd team all Big XII. It would probably be a big disappointment if he's NOT. He has as good a shot as any (except for Rush and Augustin) to be the 1st team. I like Gordon's game a lot, but no way does he have a shot to be the best pro. He is a 6'2" SG. He is too undersized imo to be a better pro than Rose or Mayo. I really think there are 4 point guards in all of basketball better than Rose right now. Nash, Kidd, D Williams, and Chris Paul. Except for Gordon is 6'4" and can handle the ball and pass well enough to play point if he needed to, although the 2 would be his best spot. He could be a Mitch Richmond type at the next level. He has a similar type of build. Mitch Richmond was 6'6". If Gordon really is 6'4", I am more sold on him. I really think though that EJ will be the best college guy and Rose the best pro.
  5. HUGE game for DePaul and Wainwright. If they lose, it'll be another unexciting year and likely NIT berth. Standard issue DePaul basketball unfortunately. However, if they can beat Creighton and then Northwestern next weekend, they will be 4-0 heading into Kansas...where Wainwright beat Kansas with his undermanned Richmond squad. I'm crossing my fingers. So far I haven't been that impressed with Wainwright. I think he has recruited quite well at DePaul. Kowshal and Tucker should be very good players.

  7. I like Thomas too, but he ain't gonna ever be as "special" as Kobe is right now. You want to win a title, or at least play for it, you might have to make the trade. Also from earlier didn't Robinson win the MVP in 94? Or was he in 95?
  8. I don't think Kansas or UNC will have many if any frosh playing serious minutes. I would also expect both to be around a lot longer than Gordon, Mayo, or Rose come tourny time. Kevin Love is the real key frosh.
  9. I take it you have Gordon behind those guys? Plus Love? Man this class is loaded.
  10. Rose is better than Mayo. Rose is the truth.
  11. This just in DRose is awesome.
  12. Because they get tired of losing to Michigan year in and year out so they come up with crazy theories about how the referees are biased for Michigan and that allows the fans of the other teams to sleep at night without thinking their team sucks. Rather than "You know, maybe our team just isn't that good." it's "We're better than Michigan but they just get all the calls and the referees favor them." ah good to see that our california friend follows the big ten closely and sees most of the conferences games. Bitching and moaning about penalties is a cop out. There are instances for both teams in which penalties could be called but don't. It's just convenient that every fan of another Big 10 team ONLY remembers the penalties that went against their team and don't remember a single instance in which a penalty called hurt Michigan. And they have happened. I guarantee it and don't need to have watched every Big 10 game to know it. I know you watch college basketball, would you say Duke gets a pretty good advantage from the referees? No more or less than any other team. People just remember the calls that favor Duke because they hate Duke. Explain to me how a jump shooting team shoots more free throws than anyone else. Specifically one that shoots mainly threes. Duke is one of the better teams in the nation and generally has a lot of good players. They play a lot of teams, especially out of conference, that aren't very good. Those teams generally don't have very good players. Good players are going to draw fouls against not very good players because those other players, you know, aren't very good. Right, so how come they still shoot more free throws when they play the just as talented teams in the ACC? Even though they shoot a majority of their shots from behind the three point line and play the most in your face defense of any team in that conference? Yeah, plus I just looked at their non-conference schedule and picked out 3 good teams who were better at getting the ball inside than Duke was last year. Georgetown, Indiana, and Gonzaga. You would expect those teams to dominate Duke on the free throw line. Here are the final totals combined for those 3 games: Duke-76 attempts, Opposition-38. No way man you are so wrong. Josh McRoberts is just way more talented than Roy Hibbert and D.J. White.

  14. Almost as crazy as those fans who thought NBA games weren't on the level. Oh wait.

Lol.
  18. If you really think this is why Michigan is kicking our butts, please take a seat in the losers section. Not at all however, for the last two weeks I've watched Michigan' opposition get called for holding while they continue to drag defenders to the ground without a call. Its a losers mentality. Michigan is beating us for reasons like, our stupid penalities, Hoyer not being very good, our lack of running game. If you are waiting for the refs win the game for us, please become a Penn St fan. waiting for an evenly officiated game =/= waiting for officials to win you a game OR MAKING EXCUSSES FOR LOSING dude there's a reason that michigan state fans are wondering about the officiating in this game, and illinois fans a couple of weeks ago, and penn state fans, and northwestern fans... I am a Michigan St fan and I am not wondering about the officiating. I am wondering why people cry about it all the time. Losers cry about officiating. Sorry thats the way I see it and it will not change. Michigan St is not losing this week because of the REFs. Its because of our mistakes. We are commiting the penalties that are getting called. Our player let Hart fake him out of his pants on one play and didnt bring him down on another. Our QB underthrew a wide open TD. We fix that stuff we are winning. NOT CRYING ABOUT OFFICIATING. I am sorry but the truth is officials are human and they make mistakes that GO BOTH WAYS. If you are looking for the officials as the reason your team losses, well that explains why your team losses. When Michigan plays at Illinois and has 1 penatly for 5 yards and Illinois has 10 for well over 100 and the game is a one score game up until the last series, the officials had a hand in deciding that game. Right or wrong. Wrong. Illinois penalties were late hits, face masks, offsides, roughing the punter. Did Michigan do any of these and not get called. they pentalty for roughing the kicker on Illinois was a joke. It should have been a five yarder, but it was called a 15 yarder with an automatic first down that set up a touchdown. Michigan gets the benefit of the doubt way too often.

  20. Is Kansas really this good? Or have they just not played anyone that good? I am betting they wished they had played anyone in their preconference now though. I think they could run their schedule and there is still no way they play for the title.
  21. If he gets kicked out of baseball and loses millions of dollars in the future because of it, I would say it is a "problem".
  22. wow. simply wow Gorkys compares to Maybin. We could not have offered anything near that. Don't think he has Maybin's power potential. Probably not, but still he is more enticing that most of our prospects. I don't think we could have made this deal.

  24. If it's 8/30 I hope they pass. I wouldn't want him on the Cards for that price however the Cubs can better absorb a contract like that. If the Cubs signed him for that they better win the WS after 2 years because afterwards things might get ugly. Anyway, I don't see the Cubs getting seriously involved when they have a 3B locked up for many years and ownership is in flux. * *Yes, I know he can play SS or 3B however PR wise I think ownership can play this card to most fans. I know what you are trying to say, but we are a money making machine. The one thing we can do as well as any team in baseball, hell the only things we can do as well as everyone else, is make money.
  25. Sounds like IU passed the blame onto an assistant coach in the whole KS phone call thing. I hear it is going to cost them Ebanks though.
