  1. Oh I'm not trying to lord, its been crappy. Bottom tier for sure.
  2. So it's not at all a comparable situation? Even better in 1990 before he started winning titles at Duke Coach K was offered the Celtics job and turned it down. Lol indeed.
  3. Oh it is, but it is a better year. Throughout the entire 20 years we pull ahead further. Look at the other playoff appearances. I know they ended crapilly, but the years were still enjoyable.
  4. Uh, no. How are the Cubs brief flashes of being not terrible better than those teams in that period? I don't know about 30 years, but I can definitely tell you that I would much rather take the Cubs' past 20 over the Pirates' past 20, and if you don't see why then you're crazy. Probably than Milwaukee's too, but not by as much. 03 alone makes it better than both those franchises. Pretending otherwise is foolish. Please show your math. How is the Cubs' 2003 so much crazy better than the Brewers' 2011? Is 7>6? I thought it was. Seems like we had a better run.
  5. Not when that team is trying to lose to get Wiggins. Plus I was thinking he should have jumped for UCLA. Jumping from UCLA to the Celtics isn't quite as big a jump. No way, man. The NBA is the NBA and the Celtics are the Celtics. No college comes close to that. Coach K jumped at that Laker job, twice. Or are the Lakers not on the level of the Celtics? And UCLA is better historically than Duke.
  6. I guess that's true. As more of a college basketball fan I just don't like this. I think he was going to be a star and now I am afraid he will be a recycled NBA coach.

  8. I started watching them in the 70's as a kid. So what have been the shining moments? 1984, 1989, 2003, all major disappointments...along with a bunch of horrible years. Being a Cubs fan is not easy. Also became a fan in the 70's. Dave Kingman, Manny Trillo, Bill Buckner, Rick Reuschel, Bruce Sutter and Ivan DeJesus along with HEY HEY from Brickhouse sucked me into being a cub fan. My first trip to Wrigley(from Iowa) the Cubs scored 1 run in 27 innings in a 3 game series with Dave Winfield led Padres in those god awful uniforms. Some of the low points for me at least were the meltdown in 84, earth quake series San Fran 98, and of course the 2003 implosion. I saw them play the Pad's too in the 77, wanna say it was my 2nd game, but it was a much better result than what you saw...Cubs won 23-6??!! Ivan DeJesus, Larry Biittner, Steve Ontiveros, and Bobby Murcer all went crazy that game. I don't consider '03 a bad thing. At the time it sucked, but looking back on it, that was an awesome year to follow. I would love to have a lot more of them.
  9. I hope so. I don't get this move for Stevens. If he wanted just a money grab he should have been Raisin's new favorite coach.
  10. Brad Stevens to Boston.....
  11. Is this just from Illinois Scout, because I don't really buy that. it started on loyalty, but it came from a legit scout, apparently. No way. I find it very hard to believe both will land at UI. Particularly Okafor, who seems hell bent on playing with Tyus Jones. I think they land at Duke. Alexander...who knows. He could land anywhere. I thought I'd read UK and MSU were the likely destinations. I'm interested in this Myles Turner kid. Talk about coming out of nowhere. I keep hearing all kinds of stuff on Cliff. I am not expecting either guy.
  12. 2 of them. Which is why I used 20 years instead of 30. But even if we go 30, the fact that the Cubs have had six playoff appearances spread out over that time frame, while the Pirates have had just about nothing to show up to the ballpark to see for 20 consecutive years has to have some bearing. I mean even if you take out the Cubs' playoff appearances since 1992, at least there was a few seasons of Sammy mashing to watch. It's been 20 years of baseball desolation in Pittsburgh. I get that, but I was replying to illini's comment. I couldn't tell if he was talking about 20 years or 30 years. Anywho, the point stands from whoever said it, there are teams fan bases that have had it worse. Although that doesn't really help anything. I was going off of the twenty, just replied to the wrong one.

  14. That's almost what I was. I was 6'5" 190.

  16. If we get Danny Duffy for that package I'll be ecstatic.
  17. Yep - doubleheader postponed. Unbelievable. What's the point? Get Baez out of there.
  18. For this reason I will always be a huge Jered Weaver fan, threw a ball to my daughter who some jerk adult snatched. He came over brought a ball to her and signed it.
  19. Don't know if this is good or not. Could mean the Cubs are asking too much or that the bidding war is driving the price to high for the Os liking. Good. We have a good 4.5 weeks before the deadline. They can ask for the moon and then some for the next 4.25 of those. If somebody gives it to them, great. If July 29 rolls around and we haven't fleeced anybody, then start fielding those last minute offers. Somebody will bite. Assuming he doesn't get hurt. Ask for the entire time, we don't have to trade him. We could keep him and look to extend him.
  20. Looks like Javy got under their skin. They hit the next guy and then every coach they have was run.
  21. Cool moment with stern and Hakeem. Cool moment that Jalen Rose had to talk all over. We get it jalen, you have to say something every ten seconds.
  22. Yeah, they are. I did the doubleheader starting pitchers but didn't list both games in the OP. My bad. Not at all, I should have noticed that.
  23. He just added 5 offense rebounds a game to Love's stats. Bonus?
  24. Jalen doesn't understand that stern doesn't run ESPN.
