  1. I'm convinced, the Cardinals will win the World Series this year. Well they have all this talent. I mean there is Pujols and Wainwright. Sure after that it gets a bit dicey, but really who has more than two good players? No one who doesn't make the playoffs.
  2. Pujols goes yard. The Cards will sweep.
  3. And here is Pujols to pinch hit. Thought he was hurt.
  4. And Wellemeyer's era dips below 3.00. What the hell? Just ridiculous. That's why I am watching the draft.
  5. I was only 9 at the time, but I think in 89 it came down to the end still.
  6. We do that we won't have much to worry about the last month of the year.
  7. After everyone laughed about how bad it would be this preseason.
  8. Yeah, but he shouldn't be in this much trouble. Stupid Soriano.
  9. Mark Prior should can his agent. If he would have signed with St. Louis is there any doubt how much different this year would have went for him?
  10. OH man I am wet.
  11. They are playing 2 games above their pythag pace, while we're playing 3 games under, so we got that going for us. How different would we feel if these were the standings: Cubs 39-18 -- Cards 32-26 7.5 What's more incredible is that we are playing 2 games above our pythag and Isringhausen had 6 blown saves. Yeah, amazing.
  12. When they are playing over .600 ball 1/3rd of the way into the year, they are a good team that could beat us. Thinking otherwise is just foolish.
  13. The better question is how can you do this, then be handed another job in the same division with 3 guys who he could do the same thing to. Bailey, Cueto, and to an extent Volquez could all fall prey to Dusty.
  14. This sucks. Think where our team would be right now with a Mark Prior that Dusty never got ahold of.
  15. How are they an annoyance? They're not very good and they are 8 games back. They aren't a team to even think about in this race. Because everyone wants to not mention the 900lb elephant in the room. The Cardinals are the main comp. We are on fire right now and they are sitll within striking distance.
  16. Luis Montanez, but I don't think anyone thought he would be a megastar. He is still in Baltimore, suprise suprise a former Cub prospect in Baltimore, I think at AAA. Thats him. Looks like hes actually on their AA team. Not doing bad for himself down there. I guess its better than nothing http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Luis%20Montanez&pos=RF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=428642 Actually, I think being in AA ball 8 years after being the #3 overall pick is doing VERY bad for himself, regardless of how good his numbers may be this year. Mastering AA ball after 8 years isn't impressive. By doing well for himself down there, I mean he has decent AA stats. As far as the big picture gos, he was an immnese failure, however, I was just looking over a list of the 2000 draft, and as far as the top 20 gos, Adrian Gonzales and Chase Utley are the only once that made it. Adam Wainwright, Boof Bonser, and to a lesser extent Phil Doumatrait did OK in the 20's. I would say that Wainwright really made it. Isn't that the Baldelli draft too? He made it before his body gave away on him.

  19. If that draft were held today there could be a Red Sox that goes really high, but it would be Buchholz. I still think the only big mistake in that draft was Ricky Romero. I would still take Alex Gordon over the two Ryan's.
  20. No, but I would still rather have Justin Upton.
  21. I almost went, but it was a house party for a co-worker today so I didn't. Good to see they won though.
  22. I never understand why you would double switch for a pitcher that is only going to pitch an inning. Especially when the game could go to extras and when you are going to use Wood next inning no matter what.
