  1. So what your saying is Illinois really did nothing wrong reguarding Deon Thomas and in fact Pearl was probably the one with questionable morals. Huh? Personally I think the guy is a hell of a coach, but a giant pox as a person.
  2. 1. I think that we've already established that Illinois was relevant last year for losing a recruiting battle and fans behaving like total asshats because of it. 2. So you're angry that Pearl can pull more college tail than you? Yep we lost him and IU got him. In order to get him they brought in Kelvin Sampson. How did that work out for them? You always have to be careful when you lie with snakes. But, in a few years I suspect you will know that. Also the second thing you posted is terrible. Yeah I do have a problem with a married man, which he was at the time of those pictures being taken, chasing around college age girls. I guess you don't. Maybe you should worry about morals.
  3. Face it... Indiana, even when struggling (which they will do in 08-09) is more relevant everywhere else in the world, outside of Illinois. Indiana is a national program who makes headlines whether winning or losing. Illinois is a team that no one outside of Big 10 country knows or cares about except when winning. Illinois is on par with the South Carolina's and Florida State's of the college basketball world. In 2008, that is irrelevant. I'm sorry if that stirs an Illini fans inferiority complex, but it's true. While Illinois might be irrelevant this year 1) Comparing them to Florida State or South Carolina is wrong 2) You are a Tennessee fan, so you have less credibility on issues of relevance than a UNC (MPrior) or UCLA fan (Raisin) I don't even like Illinois I guess he doesn't realize that if Head or Williams knocks down one of the four threes they had against UNC, we are a top ten all time program. Without the title, we are probably the best program without one. I get when the Kansas, UNC, UCLA, IU, UCONN, MSU, Syracuse, and Duke fans say we aren't all that good compared to their programs. But, when a program who has never made it to a final four is trying to shoot us down it is just funny. Once again, this is not an historical debate. How you cannot grasp that is beyond me. Must not be much reading comprehension taught in Illinois. Who cares what you would have been IF such and such had happened? Stupid argument. If Adolph Rupp had coached at Tennessee instead of Kentucky, Tennessee would be an all time Top 10 program. See how patently ridiculous that argument is? But, he did not coach Tennessee, and it is not a top 10 all-time program. When a program rises to the top for a year or two, their fans tend to get pretty cocky about it. Example #1) You Ahh, I see that you did not bother to read my entire post. Your comment proved exactly what I said. Glad to see that lack of reading comprehension skills is not limited to Illini fans. Example #1: you. Yeah we all forget how to comprehend what we read, it happens when our team makes a final four. Don't worry it will never happen to you.
  4. It's really too bad someone put a gun to your head and forced you to read these ridiculous arguments. Your time is so valueable, it can't be wasted reading anything you don't deem important. i wouldn't do that to a mod No matter how cool TT is see what i did there? Yeah, I hope he knows I am just trying to mess with him. I mean aren't all things we argue pretty much foolish?

Let's get back to when you said the past three years we weren't relevant. 3 years represents a historical period. So you were wrong there. Plus your math sucked cause were a top ten team during that span.

Illinois is on par with the South Carolina's and Florida State's of the college basketball world. In 2008, that is irrelevant. I'm sorry if that stirs an Illini fans inferiority complex, but it's true. Indiana relevant because they're a historically great program. Tennessee relevant because they're returning a team that lost in the 2nd round. Illinois irrelevant because they were bad last year, and we aren't talking about history here. Ummmm? EDIT: And I realize this is a really stupid argument to even care about, but I never really got my gloating in about how terrible the SEC was last year. Let me help you out here... Indiana: 25-8, 14-4 in the Big 10 (3rd). Highest profile coaching change in College Basketball. Relevant. Tennessee: 31-5, 14-2 (SEC Regular Season Champs). Ranked #1 during the season, made it to the Sweet 16. Relevant. Illinois: 16-19, 5-13, 9th in the Big 10. Irrelevant. And, yes, your argument is stupid. I guess when your team sucks, all you can do is ride the coattails of the good teams in your conference? Chris Lofton and Tyler Smith did not play for the SEC... they played for Tennessee. I don't know I would say we were relevant last year. Just for the wrong reasons. We were still on ESPN a ton and they did talk about us being down. We also were in the biggest soap opera storyline of the season.

Right now Coach K is sitting around worrying about what Brucel Pearl and his mighty Volunteers are up to. You know why, cause they are relevant.

I'm sorry if that stirs an Illini fans inferiority complex, but it's true. But, Tennesse is??? Yeah, thought so. Right now? Yes. Thought so. Not outside of Tennessee you aren't. You were for about 4 days last year, then you choked and lost to Vanderbilt.
  11. wait, you mean two years doesn't make a legacy? Legacy? Who's talking legacy? This thread is about basketball in 2008. Illinois is irrelevant. Indiana is not, and I was mostly just trying to get a rise out of some of you Big 10 homers. But, Illinois most definitely is. Now, if this thread were entitled "Historical College Basketball", that would be an altogether different story. Yes, top 15 in wins and winning percentage and final fours all time is definately irrelevant. Good lord. Here's to hoping you guys make a final four. Ever. Hell get back to me when you have more tournament wins than St. Joes or Western Kentucky. When irrelevance is mentioned the very definition is Tennessee mens basketball. I think you're misinterpreting what he's saying. I think he means that Illinois and Indiana will be irrelevant next year - which is true - while Tennessee won't. And when he says if you're talking historically then Tennessee is obviously the irrelevant team. I don't think Tennessee will be all that relevant this year either. They lost a lot. They will be better than both of us though. Tennessee did lose quite a bit. However, to call a team that will begin the year in the Top 15 or so, with SEC POY candidate Tyler Smith and a Top 10 (possibly Top 5, if Negedu signs) class irrelevant is laughable. And, once more... I give props to both Indiana and Illinois for the program's historical relevance. Both have better and more storied histories than Tennessee- no one is debating that. I'm saying that right now- in this current year (and for the past 3) Illinois has been irrelevant. What has all you Illini fans with your panties in such a wad? 3 years ago we were in the top 10.

  13. Someone wake Lou up, Dempster is on deck.

  15. When was that "1"? Milwaukee? The Gallardo start?
  16. because our bp has pitched like 15 innings in the last 2 days Would it have been illegal to make a roster move when we got home to remedy that? I've had "fire hendry" in my sig for 3+ years, don't ask me. Another question: why is no one in the bp up? Cause we need to fire Lou as well.

  18. Why is Ryan still in there and Billingsley out?? Stategery.
