  1. Derrick does need to stop letting Reggie make most of his choices though, it's obvious that Reggie isn't very good at the whole PR thing. Has Reggie recently said something dumb? I was thinking of in February when he said the bulls not making any trades factored into Derrick's choice to come back. Even if that was the case, why say it? Right but...why are we talking about it now? Fair enough.

  4. I can't believe he bombed out, he crushed it in the minors and was age appropriate. Luckily it was only me who was wrong on a prospect and Francis Beltran is still closing games for us today, hey?
  5. I like how they have a guy that can run all over, yet continue to throw the ball when they suck at that.
  6. IU beat the crap out of Bowling Green. I'm happy we stayed in the game with Washngton.
  7. I wonder how much longer the Starks thing will be. I would assume they would be deciding on him soon. I saw that Michael Dixon was cleared to play, have to think if he's cleared they are pretty much clearing everyone.
  8. I'm not arguing hill was as valuable. Sorry if it came off that way, just meant Hendry cashed that prospect in. Some of those other guys you mentioned wouldn't have netted us much as they weren't very highly regarded. Cpatt and pie should have been dealt sooner, the rest though, I don't think gms were dying to give good parts up for ever.
  9. I was in high school when he was at Iowa, and being an Illini fan in the IC area, I used to have all kinds of debates with my friends about who was the better of he and Garris. And yes, realizing how long ago that was is depressing. I was also in high school and remember playing against him at the Field House during the summers. He was pretty unreal. He and Rob Griffin were unguardable. Most guys you can at least force into taking a tougher shot, those two guys just went to the spot they wanted and you couldn't stop them.
  10. At one point, but at the time of the trade he was one of the guys the Pirates could choose from and they settled on him. I am pretty sure he was kind of Brett Jacksoned by that point.
  11. I am not sure that is totally right. Wasn't Aramis still very cheap at the time that we traded for him? And while Hill had pretty much lost all of his luster, I thought Choi was still pretty highly regarded at the time of his trade?
  12. Except for when he traded Bobby Hill and got back Aramis Ramirez. Oh and then when he traded Hee Seop Choi and got back Derrek Lee. Hendry's big problem at that point was he hired a terrible manager to handle his three young pitching prizes and they broke. Carlos was just a mental break.
  13. I've read that Paul was offered a chance to play here with the possibility that he would eventually have to walk on. Not sure how solid that info is though. Even then, that's getting ahead of ourselves. Cliff has to make it out of Lawrence uncommitted before I get too worked up.
  14. Now cliff is taking an official visit to Illinois, after KU has their midnight madness. Hopefully he makes it to our official without committing. Although I'm not sure what were going to do on scholarships at that point.
  15. I may have asked this before, but are any of the Illinois boards out there better than Loyalty? I lurk on Loyalty, and it can be great because of the handful of posters that have seemingly solid inside info, but my god, 80% of the posts on there are awful. They all are just so so at best, in my opinion.
  16. Yep, appears to be a done deal. This sucks. I'm sure Malik Newman will be willing to sit behind Tyler. Bad choice, IMO. Yeah, he could be a legend at Iowa He reminds me a bit of Andre Woolridge. Man I'm old.

  18. I think Williams was for sure a guy they think is going to commit soon. I imagine Matthews will be a long recruitment. I really want those two, Bragg and Brunson. I mean if I'm being greedy, lol.
  19. The guys on Loyalty claiming within two weeks we will be getting a couple '15 recruits.
  20. He is, but I'm not sure he could have done better at reloading our roster than Groce has. I think Groce was the right time, right place hire that we lucked into.
  21. I honestly only think I'd trade coaches with about four schools right now. Just curious to see who those coaches/schools are.... Callipari, Izzo, Coach K and Roy Williams? (assuming you aren't trading to get Bill Self back) Self huge gap Callipari Izzo Donovan Roy is just too old for me to want to have him take Groce's spot same with K. I'm not saying Groce is the fourth or fifth best coach in America, I just think he's the perfect fit for our program right now.

  23. God damn John Groce is amazing. If he lands this guy that's two top 40s from out of state in one year. Before that I think you have to go back to the early 80s for Illinois to pull that.
  24. I think you guys get him, makes too much sense for him to go to Iowa.
  25. would be a huge get for iowa Well, metaphorically speaking. I can't see him going to Kentucky. I mean he realizes that would be foolish, right?
