  1. For him not to be a liability at first base, he'd have to raise his career OPS by about 200 or so points. At almost 30, I see now way that happens. Rick Ankiel is the only player I can think of who has had significant playing time in the majors as a pitcher and position player (though there's an Oriole coming through their system who was a pitcher as well). He had to start back at A-ball and work his way back up through the system and has since posted OPS' of .863, .843, .672 and .695. Adam Loewen.
  2. We don't, but a small budget on the first draft has me a bit worried it was just talk.
  3. Sweet a Z for Billy Rowell trade is coming. :banghead:
  4. The only issue I have with Ricketts is the suggested $4 million dollar draft budget. He has spent the last year or so talking about building to make a better farm system. If you believe that fine, but if you're not gonna really do it, don't get our hopes up.
  5. The Cubs are in the middle of a crisis? They suck, but I wouldn't exactly call it a crisis. They're not in danger of contraction. I kind of wish they were.
  6. Zack blew you guys away.
  7. We aren't going to sell. Jim thinks we are one good run from being back in this race.
  8. And it has the awful Muse song playing over and over and over. you have to admit, using that song is pretty original. I mean, they're only the 67th movie, TV show or sporting event to use it this year That's true. I imagine it was Tom Cruise's idea. I imagine he pitched it and then got all I'm on Oprah's couch levels of crazy.
  9. Yeah It's odd McCamey might have actually been one of the better points in this draft had the Illini done better this year to get him more recognition.
  10. And it has the awful Muse song playing over and over and over.
  11. I wouldn't pick a point guard out of this draft, that's left.
  12. I really am not wanting to ever see that Night and Day movie. Did the people who run TBS playoff baseball ads move to ESPN?
  13. He's more of a shooting guard than a small forward. I don't see him putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim much but there's always room for good spot up shooters in the NBA who have size and can guard. Henry will do that. I think he can be a 40%+ 3 point shooter in the NBA. Good shooter. Can board for a guard. Average athleticism. Hard-working defender. Hesitant to attack the rim. But that's not out of fear (imo). More because it's not a real strength, I agree with everything except the athlete part, I thought he was below average as an athlete.
  14. How has James Anderson lasted this long?
  15. This draft reminds me a lot of the Kenyon Martin draft.
  16. I don't think he was supposed to be a lot better. EPatt just walked more. And played 2B. He wasn't, at one point Corey was the number 2 prospect in all of baseball behind Josh Hamilton.
  17. Have they said why RE: Orton? Is it concerns over his knees? The fact he barely played his only year of college? Playing time shouldn't matter, see B.J. Mullens. It has to be some kind of health related thing.
  18. The Hornets wouldn't be crazy to move Paul if the return blew them away. Collison did pretty well last year in his absence.
  19. I liked when he said that Hughes would be a "natural point guard who will get better at it after he works at it."
  20. Give me some recruiting guarantees while you're at it. I say Tommy Hamilton.
  21. This is the most talented team we've had since the '89 bunch according to recruiting services. I'm sure Illinois will be very good, I'm just amused by Sulley of all people calling it a stone cold lock that Illinois wins a deep Big 10 this year. Eh shoot fot the moon, I don't think it's crazy to suggest we could win the Big Ten. Leonard, Head, and Richmond are a lot better than the guys we added last year. Purdue is going to miss Chris Kramer and Keaton Grant more than people think. OSU lost Turner and while I think Sullinger is awesome, I'm not as sold as some on his ability to be a dominant center at his size. Michigan State is the tough one, I think that depends on how long it takes Kalen Lucas to get healthy.

  23. Wait a second, Armais Ramirez has been up until this year, one of the best 3B in the game. I don't think anyone could have predicted this year happening to him this early.
  24. The only thing that worries me is point guard depth. Well that and strength in the front court.
