  1. here's hoping it's illinois[/fingerscrossed] Well, you should compare us now. What you have going on makes the slush fund look tame.
  2. Between this and the IRS and FBI sniffing around in Lawerence, I'm betting some small school gets the death penalty.
  3. Yeah this is the route we should take, too bad Jim isn't worried about rebuilding. He's gonna bandaid this gunshot wound.
  4. The very definition of the entire Hendry regime. The guy had the best job in the world gm for like years with no boss over you.
  5. There is a chance that Hendry reads these boards, don't give him any more stupid ideas.
  6. He will be our second baseman for a decade. That's how we do things.
  7. How about we have to at some point let Cashner throw over 120 innings if he's ever gonna be a starter at the big league level? Or I guess we could just plug him in and let him go as a normal starter and then be shocked when he gets hurt like Wood and Prior did. Blame goats, Bartman, and curses and stuff.
  8. They're down 3 in the 3rd, not 6 in the 6th. Yep. But sometimes a game is won or lost in the first, second, third inning. Chances are that was the game. They've had 9 baserunners in 3 innings. Odds are looking pretty good they'll get to Billingsley, force a crappy middle reliever, or both. Yep and odds are Gorzo will give up more while that happens.
  9. You know after we let Gorzo hit, he's gonna give up a few this inning.
  10. Castro has to do something in that spot. Since we have two pitchers going tonight.
  11. Wait has Strasburg passed this bullpen test yet?
  12. Sorry TT this is why I think Hendry is a worse GM than Dayton Moore. No way this happens with Michael Montgomery. None at all.
  13. I love having Mike Fontenot on the team.
  14. Hadn't looked up Myers previously. Impressive results. For whatever reason, I'm not a big fan of Hosmer. He's doing well this season, though, for certain. I'm not a huge Hosmer fan either, but it looks like the lasik surgery might have been just what he needed. Myers is a stud, I just wonder if he can stay at catcher.
  15. Tim I don't think Duffy has really retired, I know he needed surgery and was going to miss a good chunk of this year anyways. Now maybe he won't come back, but a lot of the media here is speculating that he is just depressed about missing the year and not really retired. Also not gonna count Hosmer for anything? I'm thinking we'd like a guy hitting .378 .448 .556 as a young 20 year old in high A, no? Or how about Wil Myers? .381 .476 .857 at 18 as a catcher does nothing for you either?
  16. Fine, but you cannot count DLee and Ramirez then, because there is no way that anyone thought that they would be making that cheap of money as soon as they were up to resign.
  17. That's just not true. Hendry has made plenty of good moves that would've been possible with any payroll. Moore hasn't made any. when? Off the top of my head: Barrett, Dempster, DeRosa, Byrd, Gorzelanny, trading DeRosa, Karros/Grudzielanek, Lee, and probably Ramirez(although 6M was a little more in 2003) And again the Royals are not in a postition to add the kind of salary that allows you to trade for and keep Lee, Aramis, and DeRosa. Moore also got Soria to sign a cheap deal which I would consider a good deal. I'm sure that Dayton thinks that Hanley Ramirez would be a great guy to trade for, but the difference is Jim can go get him because he has the money to do so.
  18. Dayton Moore hasn't been all bad. He's resigned Greinke for cheap, loaded the farm system with a lot of talent. I'd trade our system for the Royals' one right now. Granted that is partly because Starlin just moved up, but still. He's been bad, but if he had 140 million to spend I'm sure he'd win 80 games a year like Hendry has. Outside of the draft, which really isn't his territory as GM anyway, what's one acquisition Moore has made that hasn't been poor to horrendous? Meche, maybe, and Cruz if he hadn't fallen off a cliff. On the other hand, Ankiel, Podsednik, Betancourt, and Kendall, and that's just the last 9 months. Moore prides himself on player development, so you cannot just assume he has nothing to do with the draft. Yes his acquistions have been awful, but again he has zero money to work with. When Jim has zero money to work with he goes out and gets John Grabow, Aaron Miles, Bob Howry. I agree that Moore sucks, but I think Hendry is just as bad. Jim just gets 140 million to throw around.

  20. Find out how down the Royals really are on Gordon. Pick up all of silva's remaining salary (cubs portion) if you can get him. Highly doubtful it would work, but having just been in KC it amazed me how down the fans and organization seem to be on him. I don't know why I didn't think of Gordon, I've been pushing to buy low on him since the offseason. They claim they won't trade him, but I think they are dying to move him. Dayton Moore is a [expletive]. I just don't think they will want a pitcher back. They're kinda loaded with pitching prospects. They've also got Moustakas tearing down the wall to get to the majors at this point, giving more incentive to move Gordon. I am aware, but the plan now is for Gordon to play a corner outfield spot. That's why he's back in the minors to learn to play corner outfield. meanwhile they have converted catcher Mitch Maier playing centerfield and hitting around .220. Well ran team.

  22. How much longer can we keep him down if he keeps doing this?
