  1. One of those guys is better than the other 6 put together. Who might that be? Well that clearly makes Illinois a better school, and you, in turn, a better fan. Case closed Good one, still silent on that Meyers Leonard lottery bet? Basketball fan?

  3. I see. So when is the cut off for "it's recent enough to be relevant"? I'm going to guess right around the time Illinois went to the National Championship game? Anything before that doesn't matter, right? How long do you get to hang your hat on that exactly? Yeah the Michigan fan would pick that era for sure. 8-[ Or maybe the 40s is along time ago. Any of those guys still alive?
  4. They are an NBA factory though. In the past 50 years genres Glenn Robinson and ....... Purdue's got a lot more guys in the NBA right now than Illinois... Way to go. None of them are impact players. Well, we're no NBA factory like Illinois I guess. We were doing pretty well until a Purdue coach railroaded us back to the Henson probation years. Now we are pretty Purdue like.
  5. He's gonna be here until the end of the year, unless he has another press conference wheRe he breaks down. In which case theyre gonna can his ass. That was a complete lack of class. He coached that team, did a great job of it, but he didn't put that team together either so to many he doesn't get the pass that he would for that year had he built that team himself.

  7. And they didn't allow blacks to play.
  8. Uh... Illinois' only championship is from Helms as well... now if you want to waive losing in the NC game in our faces, go right ahead.... At least we've been to the final four in the last 30 years. Congratulations? I'm sure that will wow people in your coaching search. Might not wow them as much as the fanbase publicly fundraising a coaches contract buyout during a season. Wait, it bad our fans have the ability to raise money and won't accept mediocrity? Go on...

  10. He does realize Meyers Leonard would destroy him, right? He was being funny, right?
  11. 7 in a row, baby. Oh, and it's hard to get under other fans' skin when your program is in the dumps. At least the Hoosiers can point to their banners... Yes and this is your boom period. Way to go. You guys are world beaters.
  12. We get it, you like awful basketball.
  13. As long as the money is right, there shouldn't be an issue hiring one of them. This isn't the Illinois teams of the 70s that Lou took over, there's a bunch of talent on the team. Shaka is my #1 choice. Good coach, young, African-American, and has led a team to the Final Four. I'd prefer he keep both McClain and Howard too. I want either Smart Grant Marshall
  14. Thomas said all along it will be handled at the end of the year, but I guess that pressed after the game pissed a lot of people off and sped up the process possibly. I wonder how soft Meyers will be when he's in the league next year? Oh well I'm sure in another year hard ass DJ Byrd will join him, lol.
  15. My apologies, yeah and if they both say no MT will hire who he seems best. I hope.
  16. ig said he gets it within 60 days Update on The Score just said that alumni/donors have made it clear to the AD that the buyout should not be a factor in his decision to fire or not fire Weber. It's just too bad that his hands are going to be tied by the BOT in the hiring process. It won't be. The donors are gonna cover the buyout.
  17. I loved Deon, still amazes me he didn't play in the NBA. Frankie, Sergio, and Marcus were tough. The Peoria Manuel Illini were fun to watch. Just couldn't get over the hump. I don't think Deon wanted to come back here. He made a killing overseas. Had Bradford not hurt himself early on that team wins a title, IMO.
  18. I said that about the 89 team too. I was too young to get too attached to those guys. My dad still hates Sean Higgins. My love affair with Illini basketball was founded in 1989. I still can't believe they lost to Michigan. The Nick Anderson shot in Bloomington still gives me goosebumps. Mine was the Kiwane Garris Deon Thomas era. And I love Frankie. When he dismantled Hinrich it was amazing.

  20. Sorry to interrupt you guys collectively deciding whether you love or hate Illinois based on the last 15 minutes Come clean right now. Mike Brey has some sort of factory that makes Luke Harangody clones. What the he'll did he do with the real Jack Cooley? This new version is clearly a clone.
  21. I'm rewatching the '05 regional final again on DVD. Still get goosebumps, why couldn't that team win it all? I doubt I'll ever love a team like that again,
  22. Agreed I feel like you guys the last 3 years. Except we aren't cheaters.
  23. Oh boy here comes someone with nothing to add to the conversation.
  24. Depends. Can Egwu make the same leap that Leonard made? If he does anywhere close we will be decent. Abrams is going to be a lot better by next year. Having a good point guard will help out a lot. Mike Shaw is also our best rebounder. Leads the team in a wide marghin in rebounds per minute. Just because Bruce won't let a freshman play unless his hand is forced everyone assumes these kids suck. They don't. Not saying they suck, just saying that very limited experience and it's not like they are ADavis or CZeller. As for Egwu-Leonard, didn't Egwu only play like 3 years of HS basketball? That's a lot of coordination/skill development to rely on. they don't need him to be a great post player, like i said. they'll have good enough guardplay that all those guys need to do is rebound. shaw is a big, strong, athletic dude and egwu is pretty athletic. if i were a new coach, i would think about bringing in DJ off the bench and having my playmakers start. I agree. I'd probably start Abrams, Paul, Henry, Shaw, and Egwu. Bring Bert and DJ off the bench.
  25. Why punish them by making them look like Robbie Hummel? Play better, you get to take it off.
