  1. They're one Zeller away from a bottom third finish. Hopefully he wises up and cashes in. he will be there all 4 years.
  2. GFY Derrick He didn't want to split time with Chester Frazier. And he did us a favor by going elsewhere, he knew he wasn't going to be elligible. So says the Bulls fan in me that likes Derrick.
  3. How? I think its a top 15 program. Even if all of the teams on abucks list were better than us. That still puts us at 15. I mean sure his list is awful, he didn't include Indiana in it, but even using it we are right at 15. FINE, i'll add indiana to my list. happy? No, I think by leaving Indiana off you really showed your college basketball knowledge. and this discussion has shown yours. Clearly. You win again. So smart. I bet you are doing huge things.
  4. Much of this stuff is quite arbitrarily judged. And it really doesn't matter that Chicago produces a lot of talent if none of it wants to play in the wasteland of Champaign, Illinois. We just got 4 of the top 6 kids from Chicago in 2011. In 2010 we got Mr. Basketball from there and another 4 star. In 2009 we also got Mr. Basketball from a suberb of Chicago. That's not exactly "no one wanting to come to the wasteland of Champaign." Right, but the premier kids haven't wanted to come in quite some time. Guys like Curry, Livingston, Rose, Scheyer, Davis, etc. never gave Illinois much of a chance. If Illinois is such a top program, you think they would have been able to get at least one. Richmond was ranked above Scheyer. Two of those guys didn't go to college. How the hell were we supposed to get them to come? How would landing Rose have helped us? Would have gotten us blasted back to the stone age.

  6. Funny saying this but Kruger was probably a more sexy hire than either of these 2 at the time. Kruger was in a hard to win situation with Jimmy Collins around. I think a lot of people thought that Self's success at Tulsa was still some holdover from Tubby Smith. Weber was not Illinois first choice, but I do not remember who all was considered, I think there was a lot of talk about Sampson at the time. Sampson was when we hired Self.
  7. They crapped the bed. I mean, come on. It was an embarrassing process that they wouldn't have had to endure if the job was so great. Getting a young coach in demand is hardly an accomplishment, it's like the baseline for where you'd start the process. They missed on Smart and Stevens. Two longshots. They then got the next guy I would have wanted. I really don't think they crapped the bed at all. I guess that's understandable from somebody who wants it to be true, but there isn't an objective person in the country who agrees with you. They missed out on two guys they should have easily been able to hire if their job was so great. And they missed out in very public fashion after clearly going after guys. I don't think Stevens is leaving unless he gets the Indiana job. Smart we missed on, I really wanted him and am not sure why he didn't take the job. I think that the whole thing was overblown as this is a major job that was being filled in the social network era. Most of the leaks and reports were off of random people on twitter.

Clearly the job isn't that great otherwise they wouldn't have crapped the bed on the coaching search, but you keep changing conversations between historical rankings, current ratings and how good the job is. By getting our third choice? Did Gunether crap the bed when he got Self? Because he wasn't his first choice. We still got a young coach that was in demand and would have been in more demand in one year. Self and Weber were definitely hotter candidates than Groce is at the time they were hired by Illinois weren't they? I really don't remember on Self. I was playing ball myself and not really following. I would say no on Weber. A ton of people I lived around at the time hated the hire.
  10. Lol, thank you.

I'm not trying to bring up the past, but he asked how it was working out. As in in the past. I can't really say going forward. I would assume well. Thus I had to reference the past to answer his question.
  14. Look up smart guy.
  15. Lol, now you don't get the criteria for being a better job? no, i don't get your criteria for what makes a better job. Recruiting base, conference stability, revenue earned, crowd support, and then history.

  17. Lol, now you don't get the criteria for being a better job?
  18. K? I wouldn't call Butler a better program than Indiana. But Stevens didn't leave. It has to be.....
  19. We were ranked the number 6 program all time by the Saragin ratings. So good. They ranked Iowa #10 so I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in that. Yeah they really loved the Big Ten.
  20. We were ranked the number 6 program all time by the Saragin ratings. So good. stay on task please. You asked how it was wrking out, did you not mean in past tense? If not do you want me to tell the future? Genius.
  21. We were ranked the number 6 program all time by the Saragin ratings. So good. so when you hired your most recent coach, you got the sixth best coach in the nation, right? Lol, yep good point. I guess Kentucky needs to fire Cal to go get Self. You know becuase the best program in turn needs the best coach. Oh wait, that's not really how this works.
  22. They also play in Louisville. And Pitino is done within 3 years.
  23. We were ranked the number 6 program all time by the Saragin ratings. So good.
  24. I like your list a lot better. But, I'd argue that UCONN s Calhoun and will fall apart fast after he is gone as it doesn't have a huge recruiting base nearby. I also don't think that Georgetown is a better job either. But, at least you listed Indiana. UConn will be fine. What is it, 2 hours from NYC and a half hour from ESPN? UConn is adopted by NY when it wins, but is largely ignored for the most part. Kind of like Illinois and Chicago's relationship?
  25. That's only 14. he originally asked for 10. But, I'd say we are top 15. I think we are just outside of the top 10. Thus I edited it. Remember, I'm not a genius. I make mistakes.
