  1. That's ridiculous. If Padilla hits anybody he will be ejected and that will probably be the end of that. Unless of course there's a brawl or something in which case it would be wildly amusing to see someone punch Buehrle in the face. Ozzie said himself: If Padilla doesn't do anything then he isn't going to do anything. I dont' get what the big deal is. The fact that he said if Padilla hits a batter, he will deliberatly hit a Texas batter. Seriously, what do you not understand? If Padilla hits a White Sox batter intentionally, for the third time this year mind you, the White Sox will retaliate. This is called stating the obvious. If a pitcher repeatedly beans the same team, any manager in all of baseball would retaliate.
  2. He is a reverse stereotype, people always say Sox fans obsess over the Cubs (many do), but he is doing the exact same thing with the Sox and to a much lesser extent the Cardinals. So what? Is it necessary to give him crap about it in every thread? If they want him to stop, then yes. He doesn't seem to have a problem being called out like this, let him defend himself. If they want him to stop? Stop voicing his opinion? That's ridiculous. I think his hatred of the Sox is excessive, but he's certainly entitled to his opinion and doesn't deserve to be belittled for it every time he expresses it. Hey man, if the crap CBB gets gets your panties in a knot, then don't open the thread. I shouldn't have to not open threads in order to avoid seeing a poster getting criticized for voicing his opinion. Frankly, I'm pretty shocked that a moderator hasn't ever said anything about all the crap that CBB gets on here. Frankly, if he gets attacked as badly as you say, I'm pretty shocked he hasn't come out and ripped people or complained to a moderator.
  3. I am. I'd love to see the Cards give up a ton and end up paying Willis post arbitration money based on win totals and hype. Exactamundo. If any team is going to gut their farm to get Willis, let's hope it's the Cards. Willis has several comps that peaked before age 25 -- Steve Avery, Ismael Valdez, Jim Abbott, Mark Mulder (it seems like he's peaked). Is Buehrle poised to join the list? The Cards need young arms on their staff, it wouldn't hurt to give up Duncan who has overachieved, Reyes who projects to be middle of the rotation, and an A level prospect.
  4. It's not nearly as bad as the Mulder deal.
  5. Looked like good hard-nosed baseball to me. It's definitlely no worse than plowing into a catcher who doesn't have the ball. To me, a catcher impeding the path of the baserunner when he does not have the ball is different than a runner going out of the baseline to break up a double play. Agree to disagree. It's just unfortunate that MLB is so vague with the rules in these types of situations. Thames was able to put both hands on the bag in the play I saw, so he wasn't really too far from the bag. His objective was to break-up the DP and he did. It's legal and considered clean. ITS 2005 GRINDERBALL. Had the White Sox done, that, it would be another part of their marketing slogan for Ozzieball, Grinderball, whatever idiotic name you wanna call it. GRINDER RULE NUMBER 130: DEFEAT YOUR OPPONENT... ANYWAY POSSIBLE! That would be more appropriate for defeating another team, w/ a pic of Buerhle hitting Hafner in the face And once again you provide no proof for why Buehrle would throw an 80 mph pitch at someone's face. It put him on the DL for a month Considering they went 11-7 with him on the DL, I'd say it wasn't a huge setback. Also consider the fact that the Indians were 14 GB when Hafner was hit. Nice theory though, Buehrle threw one of his rocket 80 mph sinkers at Hafner's face (who, if you do not remember, did not move out of the way) in order to hold back the team that was so ruthlessly breathing down their necks.

  9. To be fair, espn.com is a site run by anti-Cub bigots that push the White Sox agenda down everyone's throats...
  10. Gunnar, you lost it for me.
  11. True. I guess karma does apply to cliche marketing.

  13. It's in the press, MLB. No more Ozzie being Ozzie crap. He hits a Texas batter, he needs a long suspension. His act is tired. He's said it this time, something needs to be done. Personally, I think he should be hung from a tree in your backyard. It's only fair.
  14. I disagree, if the Tiggers die a horrible death it could become entertaining. What do those who rooted against the White Sox because of their fairweather attendance think of Detroit?
  15. any worse than what aj pierzxynski did in the extra inning red sox game? I did not see it (work), but if AJ slid horizontally into the second baseman's knees, then it was a b.s. play.
  16. Still a large dropoff, although there's no shame in 25 HR's with above average OBP out of a Rule V pick. By the way, way to roll into Iguchi, Marcus Thames.
  17. Good thing Da MEAN TREE will be back soon.
  18. And so begins the Detroit fall from grace...
  19. The best kind of support, obviously.
  20. This really sounds like a story from the Onion.
  21. He's a MLB manager and the team he's currently managing just went and won the WS for the first time in almost under a century under his watch. Sounds pretty "successful" to me. WOW!! Winning the World Series does not automatically make you a succesful manager and give you a free ride to do whatever you want    Don't tell me you wouldn't be calling for Dusty's head right now even if we had won the World Series in 2003. Well then what the heck makes you successful? Good sound bytes? A successful manager is not always a good/great manager, but a world championship does make them successful. Ex: Bob Brenly is not a good manager. Bob Brenly was a successful manager in that he won a world series.
  22. Yeah, b/c he doesn't want to be accused of screwing them over to help the White Sox. I don't know what you mean. He won't throw him because he's a rookie. Ozzie will probably stick with the vets. Ozzie in the Sun-Times this morning: Gotcha. He really did put himself in that position though with all the comments he's made.

  24. As cool as it is that Liriano was named, there's no way Ozzie will pitch him (sad, but true).
  25. I can't see Rowand coming back. I would have no problem with Fred Lewis, he could be adequate. If they're dealing Garcia to the Phils, I'd want Victorino. If Sabean doesn't pull the trigger, he's so terrible.
