This year has been insane for Dye. His OPS is 1.005, which is .192 above his career average. He's due to regress, which he has begun to do in June, but his pre/post all-star splits are eerily similar and his career stats are very consistent with every month. I'm sure he'll end up with a .900 OPS and 35 HR.

Yes, we know White Sox fans have an anti-ESPN agenda, just like they have an anti-Jay Mariotti agenda, and an anti-Cubs agenda. I'm actually an anti-Give credit to a manager for a rapid turnaround he had little-to nothing to do with. Leyland overmanages more than TLR, Dusty, Ozzie, and any other "old school" manager combined. Most managers don't have anything to do with how a team performs in baseball. It's more the talent. Ozzie got his time on ESPN when the White Sox won the World Series, so I wouldn't be bitching. I never said anything to the contrary, but I am a Sox fan, so civilized discourse is impossible. Also, does anyone think they'll fall apart? I just can't see how this will keep up, but many said that about the Sox and they just got all the breaks. Maybe it's their year. I don't think they'll fall apart. If anyone falters down the strecth, I think it will be the White Sox b/c the starters will run out of gas, and the bullpen will be underworked due to all the innings the starters are eating. Most every pitcher has been on a very strict 110 pitch count the entire season. The whole staff is known for being innings eaters, so it's not an anamoly. Keep in mind that the Sox are 5-1 vs. the Tigers, and that the Sox have a better pitching staff (debatable, I guess) and a much better lineup. Um, yeah, and we've owned the Cardinals and look where that's gotten us. It'll take a lot more than owning the Tigers to win the division. You're comparing apples and oranges. The Cubs have beaten the Cardinals in recent years, but have faltered against other teams. Like Flamez said, they've done a lot against more than just the Tigers, plus there's no doubt in my mind they are the better team. They're 5-1 and still have 3-4 (?) series left with them.

Mariotti is probably the most universally hated sportswriter in America. He knows what sells, controversy, negativity. He can spin anything to make it negative. Bears fans hate him, Illinois fans hate him, Cubs/Sox/Blackhawks/Fire/Sky/Any fans within 500 miles hate him.

Of course you do, you're a Guillen apologist. Why don't you check everything I've said about it? I think it was awful, but Rocket Sauce is right, it is not the same as what Rocker said. Guillen called him a [expletive] out of spite, but not because he's gay. Rocker went off and called gay people "[expletive]" as well as referencing "some queer with AIDS." There's a big difference.

Another factor of the entire episode was the strategy of the Rangers. Vazquez has owned the inside corner this season, and was leading the league in HBP. He loves to work the inside and is not afraid to hit someone. Although the Rangers were already ahead, it was pretty good strategy by a dreadful manager in Showalter.

I certainly hope that no one finds the majority of Sox fans to be Ozzie-esque. I love the team and the players, but certainly not the manager. At times, he's tolerable, but he is a walking controversy. I like to think he'll learn from this and stop talking, but I doubt it.

Mariotti and Hawk are the two biggest idiots in town. I hope they choke each other to death. Yes, Hawk was THAT bad, and still is.

He's escaped scrutiny because he never had a ridiculous power spike like most other juicers. I don't know if he did or didn't, but he seems to be breaking down due to age. His injuries have been in his leg, and that is typical of a man his frame. Putting that much pressure on an injured area will undoubtedly lead to further injury.

He's joining the team on Friday in Cincinatti. Plus I couldn't imagine they hammered out a deal that quickly based on something so flimsy.

A lot of this probably had to do with the fact Showalter and Guillen hate each other. It's kinda sad Tracey's stint had to be ruined by a pissing match on who could be more "old school". Tonight's game will be interesting, considering Buehrle isn't against plunking guys and he hates the Rangers (see: infamous "lights" conspiracy).

That's fine, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the actions of the White Sox manager, not the Rangers' pitcher. The Rangers pitcher hitting Pierzynski twice doesn't give any justification for berating your own players. Absolutely. It was lousy and ridiculous of Ozzie and KW. They are both in the "old school", and I guess the justification was Tracey needed to "defend" his teammate. The problem, IMO, was that AJ had been his teammate all of one week. It was complete garbage of Ozzie to send him down, chewing him out was stupid, but to a much lesser extent. Both Ozzie and Williams are in the "old school", so they assume it is the duty of the player. On an unrelated note, Tracey has looked alright since getting called up. Hopefully he can be the #5 when they let Garcia/Buehrle walk after 07.

It was terrible to snap on Tracey, but it was much worse to bean AJ TWICE. There was no history between them whatsoever.

It's pretty sad you have to look for reasons to hate such a good guy. Yeah, he's a Cardinal. But he's also done nothing wrong, yet you want to indict him for improving over the course of his career.

I didn't hear any boos, but I'm sure by late in the game there were some absolute idiots liquor'd up booing him. His first at-bat was very warm, thankfully. There's always idiots at every park. Did anyone see how Thome was received in Cleveland?
