  1. I would just look at it like gambling. If someone gave you $100 to go gamble and you lost it all, you wouldn't feel so inclined to spend more to recoop it back. If it was your own money you try all night to see if there was any way to win it back. Either case is you probably lose. So damn you Hendry in advance for whichever you choose.
  2. It might be a trade to be able to sell Ryan Theriot at his all time high.
  3. Wow, I apologize for such a bad proposal, I'm embarrassed.
  4. BigBadB: Does your home/away splits kind of say he can't hit a breaking ball. I know pitchers don't get as much movement on their pitches, and I was just curious to think what you'd think if there's a correlation between Coors hitters hitting fastballs better than breaking balls.
  5. Geez, I didn't realize he fell off the face of the earth. When he came up he was the leading canidate for ROY until he supposedly fell down the stairs carrying his groceries. Then I think his story changed. What happened to him, did he not recover from his injury? I guess I have to stop trying to figure out someone who can play short besides Tejada.
  6. Sean Marshall for Clint Barmes. Barmes has clearly been taken from his job. Tulowitski was already getting the hype of a proven youngster during the playoffs. It just seems when the T.V. and commercials include this type of player they really hit it big, like Cabrera in '03. Fire away.
  7. Reminds me of the Luis Castillo thread a few weeks ago. 1-2 yrs ago Hendry would have been worshipped if he signed/traded for him.
  8. Someone please explain how Alex Gonzalez is an upgrade to anyone. We need offense, if we needed a ss who made all of the spectacular plays, Play Cedeno.
  9. I'm not sure Cleveland would need another outfielder. But, if they do I'd try to swap Gallagher out and someone like Marshall or Hart in. Then I'd do it in a heartbeat.
  10. You could also chalk it up to the perceived power Jackson has. I'd think being platooned with Tony Clark should hurt your value but I guess Tony's a proven vet.
  11. Someone explain the no love for Veal. I follow I-Cubs sort of close but lack the knowledge of the lower levels. Wasn't Donnie Veal our # 2 prospect before this year? Is his ceiling still pretty high? Thanks in advance.
  12. He's a great salesman. I'd hire him. Plus, he's ruthless.
  13. Before this year it was frustrating to see him hurt all the time. He's been a top prospect for 3 or 4 years now. The problem I have this year is the fact of jockeying him between starting and relieving. That can't be good on his fragile arm.
  14. Why, cause Mack might lay the Smack down? Pro athletes are always accused of something.
  15. Ever notice I wasn't even talking about Murton, my argument is about Theriot because he should be the starting SS, not cedeno. Yes, you brought in theriot to prove how worthless cedeno is, but you started it by mentioning how there's a perfectly good RF wasting away in Iowa. :D There is, and I dont' think Matt is the greatest thing ever but come on, he is most definetely an upgrade over Floyd, however with DeRo's injury I think we need Cedeno hear, as a backup. I don't know why everyone thinks Cedeno is the second coming of Honus Wagner. The argument is for Ronny getting a decent shot. Unlike Pie, we need to continue to give Ronny playing time. Nobody is arguing he an All Star right now, it's now or never for him, let the kid show what he's got.
  16. No. It's not so much that all those guys are super valuable(except Gallagher, who's the best pitching prospect in the system), but including ALL of them at once is a bit much. Fair enough - that is why I asked. OK, so what about Gallagher and Soto? Does that get it done? Reds want more? Considering it's Krivsky, but at the same time other teams are interested in Dunn, I'd start at something like Veal + Petrick with a window to get an extension for Dunn, and work from there. You going to tell me that's a better deal then the Brewers one too? Just general comments off of your posts from this thread: If Cedeno is an AAAA player than so is Weeks. Because I assume he's that way in your book because of success in the minors and then struggling in the majors. Cedeno also had success his first time up but Weeks is a little different with his wrist injuries. As far as Patterson goes, your rating him against Week's strength. He was supposed to be a 2nd baseman with power. Epatt has different strengths. There's more to the game than one single stat. Actually being a reader most of the time on here, has opened up a new baseball world for me. I just don't like how you rip down Epatt for not hitting for power and then call Cedeno a AAAA player because he can't stick in the majors. The big difference is in Chicago we can afford to go out and buy a replacement (Derosa) where in Milwaukee they have to draft the replacement.
  17. I guess it will. And for the record, no, he hasn't been "a hell of a lot better than what we had." In fact, he's been worse. He's #80 out of 81 MLB catchers this year in VORP. 81 catchers. Most teams have at least two guys better than Kendall. And he'll be starting for us. I'm not arguing this year. I'm arguing the other 11 yrs. Guys that have good OBP's usually are good through their career. They don't usually forget to take a walk when they're 33. Yes I know he's a catcher.
  18. and I'll wager his OPS will still be below 700 I didn't realize you expected a lot of slugging out of your two hole, especially from a catcher. I've been reading for a while and it wasn't long ago we had Neifi and Macias in there batting in the two hole. It could be worse. Slugging out of your two hole isnt important...if you dont want to score runs. I disagree, OBP is more important than slugging out of your two hole. If Piniella got some balls and batted Soriano where he needs to bat, you leave it up to guys like Theriot, Fontenot and now Kendall to get on base and Lee, Ramirez and Soriano to drive them in. That's a perfect world but I know, I'm just a Cubby fan. Odd, on my computer it doesnt say that i said OBP is less important than slugging out of the 2 hole (or anywhere). Crazy, must be some sort of virus. You know what would also be nice...if Kendall would take a walk. 3.9 BB% this year? Seriously? His IsoD is .035!!! Jeez, somebody tell him about that stat, it looks like he forgot how to take a walk. I can't believe all the negativity on this board. We got a guy who's had a real good career, probably won't put up those career stats at this stage but it's still a hell of a lot better than what we had. Who cares about this year, the man couldn't of forgot how to play the game completely could he? I'll ride this out and not murder any positive people until proven otherwise. I seriously doubt he'll play that horrible for us. I guess time will tell.

That's a perfect world but I know, I'm just a Cubby fan. His OBP this year is .261, so he better get that up, because he's hitting like a Neifi/Macias love child. Check the post underneath your's. You made it sound like all you need is slugging out of the two hole. I disagreed, you kind of took back what you said. I was saying there's more to the two hole than slugging, I'd like both but that's extremely rare. I think we're both right, but it's not available.

  22. Judging by your location you must have seen him turn down thousand's of autographs or something. I wouldn't blame him. I was in a cab in front of Greg Maddux last year and watched the same thing. It's amazing kids don't get run over by these stars that they beg to roll down their window for miles and miles while they chase them on their bikes.
  23. We've heard that it's a lefty from low-A Greensboro, so if that's true, it eliminates Ungs. So that then leaves Tom Cowley (age 23) - 65.1 IP, 3.31 ERA, 49 K/18 BB Avi Rasowsky (age 24) - 19.1 IP, 5.59 ERA, 20 K/7 BB Cowley please, I guess. That's kind of why I suggested Ungs. All this money supposedly going with Jones doesn't make sense to get one of those two back. I know, I know bag of balls is all he's worth. really?
  24. What about Nick Ungs. I know he's in triple a but is getting up there in age for a "prospect" They've never given him a shot, maybe they gave up on him. He played his HS ball in my neck of the woods.
