  1. If Wright played for Arizona, for example, the gold glove probably would have gone to Aramis last year.
  2. No idea why I thought of this, but for some reason just wanted to see what people thought.
  3. WHAT? The only 3rd basemen in history that rate higher than Chipper are Schmidt, Brett, Mathews, Boggs, Santo, Robinson & Evans. By the time he's done he'll have certainly passed Evans and Santo, and will probably pass Robinson. If a person who is in the top 10 (much less top 5) all time at their position isn't in the HOF, then something is wrong. I'm a "Hall of FAME" not a "Hall of Very Good" type guy, and I think Chipper is a complete no brainer.
  4. Wright and Arod for sure, and Chipper Jones when healthy.
  5. FWIW, Edmonds' WARP3 is 109.1 and Williams' is 106.3 Also, I just wanted to bring up the fact that Johnny Damon has a good chance at 3,000. He's 34 and has 2193 right now. If he gets there, will he be the first 3,000 hit man to not make the hall?
  6. The horrors of tourists coming to Chicago and actually visiting a part of baseball history. I don't think anyone was intimidated, dude, just ignoring you while celebrating a Cubs win. A concept which seems foreign to a majority of Sox fans - celebrating your team's victory instead of rubbing it in your opponent's face. The thing is, most of these "tourists" are not tourists in the regular sense of the word i.e. "hey, the travel guide says we should go here, let's go to a game". They are just dedicated Cubs fans from other parts of the country.
  7. I think Ozzie is definitely instigating alot of this in the clubhouse.
  8. shut your trap A.J., some of us actually work for a living.
  9. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2008_06_21_clemlb_lanmlb_1& go to the video and watch the home run... that was no cheap home run, fo sho 440 feet.
  10. I'm not sure that's such a good comparison. Not that it is the end all/be all of stats, but Williams' WARP3 is 106.3, Alou's is 80.7.
  11. no he's the one that will likely finish second and have no shot at being the backup. At this point of the season Uggla is an MVP candidate. Not the leader but up there. So after the leading vote getter at each position (aside from outfield), it is up to the manager to fill out the rest of the spots?
  12. So DeRosa is second in all-start balloting (even though I think Dan Uggla should be second) for second baseman....is he going to make the team?
  13. Could he have been adopted by an uncle or something? I don't know much about Ruth's history. That looks like Babe Ruth in a costume http://www.snorgtees.com/images/MoustacheChampion_Fullpic_1.gif
  14. I smell an article topic for Bruce... :-) "Time for Cubs fans to accept Edmonds?" by Bruce Miles
  15. "The Boy with the Thorn in his Side"
  16. What show were they talking about that they "couldn't say"?
  17. Mr Merkle was the only MLB'er my hometown ever produced. Addie Joss played some college ball here, but Merkle was born and raised. Addie Joss was a BADASS.
  18. http://www.gastonl.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/emo_lawn.jpg
  19. Next thing we know Len is going to be telling us to get our pets neutered and spayed
  20. From the Cubs, yes. That's outstanding.
  21. Did they just say that Edmonds is getting a pro-rated league minimum salary this year??
  22. If him and Joe Morgan had a lovechild it'd be Carl from Slingblade.
