    Meh, I was hoping for a bigger move than Lawton, like Dunn. Lawton is decent, but nothing special IMO. There could be another move, but it's unlikely. I'm dissapointed. :cry:

    I have a feeling we won't get anybody. I didn't want Soriano much anyways, but it seems like Cincy is just too stubborn to trade Dunn. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I don't like our chances. :cry:

    Murton should only be traded if we're getting Dunn or Manny in return.

    WHich i believe is the EXACT same as JHJ... Not trying to pick a fight, just wanted to throw that out there. Well, I'm not that crazy about Hairston either. I wouldn't mind seeing us deal Hairston, but Roberts is not a guy I want.

    I hear ya. I gotta leave for work at ~1:45 EST tomorrow. I hope to hear about something (preferrably something BIG) before I head off. Won't find out possibly about anything until 7-8 hours later. UGH! Luckily, I have the day off so I'll be able to check for any kind of trade until the deadline. Still though, I'll be pretty dissapointed if we don't deal for LF'er. Please JH

    That's a much more detailed version of something I daydreamed about earlier. Of course I've probably tried everything in my power to make Manny a Cub and so far nothing has worked yet. I'm sorry if I let you guys down. Don't despair just yet. We still got 15 hours to go. Keep the faith! At least for another 14:30 hours anyway. :wink: The Nomar deal wasn't announced to the public until a few hours after the deadline, right? So technically we have a few extra hours. Nah, IIRC, it was announced about a half hour after the deadline.

    Roast, just to let you know, if you want to do the AIM thing to get updates, I'd be happy to oblige like the others said.

    Meh... While I'd like to see an upgrade in LF and in the bullpen, I could live with our current team +Nomar and Williamson, assuming Murton continues to get a good portion of the starts in LF. Still, I'm holding out hope that we'll get a new LF in the next 16.5 hours or so... Its 99.9% sure, according to Jayson Stark, that Manny and the Mets ain't happening. Jim, if ever we needed a miracle from you, we need it now! I'm holding out hope for Manny, Huff or Dunn. Soriano would be OK too I guess. I just hope we get someone in LF.

    Will Carroll said that the Cubs and Twins are done making deals. Other than that there hasn't been a whole lot else new. Manny didn't start tonight, and there's rampant speculation to the reason for it, ranging from him not showing up at the ballpark, to a trade being consumated. Alright, thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

    Yeah, Ken Rosenthal's column on Yahoo! is saying the same thing. Surprised not to hear the Cubs mentioned.

    Ugh. No kidding. I will be going bannana's sunday at work. Haha. I can just picture Roast completely ignoring his boss while trying to find out if the Cubs have traded for anyone.

    That's quite a haul of prospects for Tampa. I doubt that deal gets done. I don't see the Mets assuming Manny's contract, and I doubt the Red Sox are really going to trade Manny and only get Huff and a mediocre Mike Cameron in return. I'd say our chances of getting Manny are low, but again, I could see this being a situation where the Sox-DRays-Mets deal falls apart and JH could step in at the last moment.

    Yep, just saw it on ESPNews. Funny, they just passed on the exact same deal not too long ago.

    Possible. I have a feeling Theo Epstein is sort of in the mode he was last year with Nomar...the fans are booing Manny, the Boston media is criticizing him, I think he'll try as hard as possible to deal him before the deadline. Hopefully JH makes an effort to get him.
