EXPOS YES What was that old expos logo supposed to be, anyway? an M, E and B. the white curve next to the veritical blue line are supposed to make an "M" for montreal, while the red "E" and blue "B" stand for expos and baseball, respectively.
do people really have issue with sandberg not diving for baseballs during his playing career? i'm not calling you out specifically, but this isn't the first time i've heard those types of comments from people here. That was a widespread view of him back in his playing days and in the discussions of his error-less streak and comparisons with other great middle infielders. i remember hearing about it on talk radio growing up as a kid, but never thought much of it. i guess it was more of a deal than i originally imagined.

and, for the record, he seemed pretty cool with theo calling him and telling him he wasn't in the running and also gave a positive remark about the new cubs brain trust.
has sandberg given any dialogue of his thoughts on walks? someone quoted his hit-and-run ideas above and i haven't read through the yahoo! sports archives (nor do i want to). he walked a decent amount during his all-star years ('84 to '93) and averaged a .357 OBP and totaled over 100 runs scored 6 times during that period. it would be a head-scratcher to hear that he didn't value that part of the game when it seemed to be a rather large part of his.
i vaguely remember something like that in his biography, but i thought he was talking about larry himes and his cronies and not front office people leaning on sabrmetric analysis.
i was the original uploader of that video a long time ago. i'll do a search on my externals this weekend and upload it somewhere to view again. i was at that game and, after that play, it was the loudest i've ever heard wrigley...and that includes playoff games.

i need to find a bulls bar in manhattan/brooklyn. i can obviously watch them in my apartment, but it's more enjoyable in a bar cheering with fellow chicagoans/bulls fans.
Hey, its lead to a 5+ year career for Ryan Theriot. worked for mark grace for 15 years, of course it helped that he was a gold glover and he was good for 30+ doubles/year.
