  1. According to this article in the Sun Times Wrigley may not be part of the deal. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/325822,CST-SPT-sale04.article
  2. I think this thread continues to grow because their seems to be some story every week about how A-Rod is going to leave or is thinking about leaving. Now because of the Lou conection their is always going to be Cubs speculation by people on this board and the media. Also A-Rod can not seem to keep his mouth shut for more than five seconds.
  3. I'm gald you were able to listen to it I wanted to confirm what I heard but the clip was silent. Dan Patrick made the same type of comment about two weeks ago. Yeah but he was just guessing that is what would happen KO's comment was that Arod was telling people that he was going to the Cubs. How good his sources are is the question.
  4. I'm gald you were able to listen to it I wanted to confirm what I heard but the clip was silent.
  5. He better be willing to take a big discount because otherwise the Cubs aren't going to be able to afford him. Why not? If he really does wany to play for the Cubs can they afford not look seriously at him.
  6. Here is the link to podcast i was having problems with the sound on it though. It is the fifth segment down on Tuesdays show under Keith's vacation.http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/radio/archive?name=dp_podcast#
  7. Keith Oberlin talked about Arod on the Dan Patrick show Tuesday. He spent a week at Yankees camp and according to him Arod has been telling everyone this offseason that next year he is going to play for Lou and the Cubs.
  8. All I can say is I have had DirecTV since 95 their is no way I would ever go back to cable. If you can switch I think you will like DirecTV. With hotpass, Sunday Ticket and EI along with great HD seems like for sports fans DirecTV is the place to be.
  9. People do get bigger with age but I never heard of anyone who did not have some growth disorder whos feet and head grew after age 28 which Bonds was when he Joined the Giants.
  10. Game of Shadows is now in paperback with a new chapter. Heard this on Dan Patrick Show today and here is a quote from a Tom Verducci article on SI.com. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/tom_verducci/02/27/shadows.afterword/?cnn=yes
  11. Man it sucks being in the eastern time zone game ends at around 1:00 AM and when a game is that exciting it takes me two or three ours after its over before I can get to sleep. With that said that may be the most exciting ending to any sporting event I have ever personally watched.
  12. Buste Onley comments on Z and the possibilty of him being a free agent next year. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=2706175&name=olney_buster Must be an insider.
  13. If you only have one or two dependable starters like the Cubs last year. It puts alot preasure on those guys to go along way in every game to save the bullpen. So hopefully Lilly/Marque it help not only save the pen but also take some the preassure off of Z to pitch late into every game.
  14. If Prior an Miller are healthy I'll just be happy and won't worry about anything else.
  15. Who else was interested in him that they needed to pay him that much? Makes the Billy Beane look really smart for getting Piazza for 8.5 mill.
  16. Rob Dibble had some of Bonds teamates offer him a steak dinner if he beaned Bonds when he was in Pittsburg.
  17. Unless your Roger Clemens then you miraculously get better with age. Wonder how he does that?
  18. If he died prematurely we would love him we love everyone after their dead.
  19. Great to bad we have to listen to Mike Murphy to hear it.
  20. He also says Murton is a good defensive left fielder which shows he hasn't really been paying attention. I love Murton but he struggled defensively last year.
  21. Tom Paciorek who was an announcer for the Nationals last year was the score earlier today thought I would just list some his thoughts on Soriono since he saw him everyday. He gushed over what great guy he is and how is always the first guy to park everyday and what a hard worker he is. Said he played left very well said most of errors came early in the year and as the season wnet on he got better and better. Led the league in outfield assists. He thought he was going to be a 50 50 guy but struggled the last month of the year. He thought this was mainly a mechanical problem he had at the plate the last month. Very streaky looks like the best player in baseball one week can't hit anything the next. Also thought he would be even better in center than left. I know there was more but thats all I can remeber right now.
  22. I agree with the sentiment, but what other role was he going to get elsewhere. I thought that medically, Wood had made the decision to be a reliever. I really think he could have gotten up to 5-7MM from other teams, with a chance to enter ST as a starter, or a guaranteed chance at closing. The market for pitchers is ridiculous. And besides any of that, it's obvious that Wood specifically prefers the city of Chicago and its' fans. A starter? He's already said medically, he's going to have to be a reliever if he's anything this year. Nobody was going to sign him and hand him the closer's job. Here is a quote frome the Buster Only article:
  23. Doesn't he live in Arizona? Good point but thats what he said. Also sounds likes they are just interested in him no offers yet.
  24. Just heard on the score Steve Stone may end up being the Nationals tv color guy. I'm not sure if he been offered the job or if they are just in discussions. He said the biggest draw back would be leaving Chicago.
