  1. 3 years at $10 million to 5 years at $15 million. Quite a wide range of salaries have been thrown around.
  2. Having lived there for 7 years, I concur - it's all frosting and no cake. I've never met a shallower, more selfish and more mentally and spiritually unambitious group of troglodytes in my life. How do you really feel? Don't hold back.

  4. Let's keep it to the Cardinals taking our rejects (Izturis), not vice versa. ARam is a Lou Gehrig-like Ironman compared to broken-down Rolen.
  5. With all due respect to Ichiro, any concerns about the quality of Japanese baseball and how much vailidity can be given to their stats? Afterall, Tuffy Rhodes has a .379 OBP and 402 home runs in eleven years after a pretty mediocre (at best) stint in MLB. http://www.japanesebaseball.com/players/player.jsp?PlayerID=905 Do they test for steroids in Japan?
  6. Giles wants to play for his hometown Padres. I'd be shocked if he didn't have some type of no-trade clause in his contract.
  7. I fear this writer may be correct - Gallagher and Murton ain't going to do it. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/roch/blog/

  9. Maybe one less player in the Fukodome sweepstakes. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=MLB&hl=227353
  10. You're in Fantasy Land (a.k.a College) and you don't have time to read 24 pages?
  11. Geez, you would have thought Rolen had kicked a dog or something to get Tony so up in arms. Maybe Tony and Scott should just go out for a couple of cocktails and smooth things over. I'm sure the Cards would spring for the necessary limo.
  12. If the O's don't want to trade Roberts until unloading Tejada, then maybe the Cubs should help them out by taking both of them. Angelos is still running the show, I bet he won't let MacPhail trade "the face of the Orioles." http:// http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-sp.meetings06dec06,0,2268735.story

  15. For a serious look at which conference is better Big Ten or SEC. http://cbs.sportsline.com/spin/story/9007236/1
  16. As Ohio State and Michigan found out last year, the top Big Ten teams just don't have the talent, speed or depth to play with the top teams from the SEC and PAC Ten. Although with former SEC guy Zook in charge, the Illini are starting to recruit the right kind of players. Not only is Illinois going to get blown out, the remaining Big three of the Big Ten (Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin) are going to get outclassed by three SEC teams (LSU, Florida and Tennessee) who play in a much tougher conference. LSU > Ohio State Georgia > Illinois Tennessee > Michigan (and Appalachian State) Florida > Wisconsin Arkansas > Penn State Auburn > Iowa Kentucky > Indiana Miss. State > Mich State Purdue = Alabama South Carolina = Northwestern Vanderbilt > Minesota You do realize that the Big Ten took 2 out of 3 last year from the SEC? I think they will win at least 1 this year also. Probably 2. If they were quasi home games for the Big Ten they may win all 3. You do realize that the second best team in the SEC was busy blowing out Notre Dame while the second best team in the Big Ten was getting killed by the Trojans? OSU's gonna be in real trouble when JaMarcus suits up this year. Good thing OSU didn't lose any seniors from last year and only LSU did.

  20. What hotel are you staying at? In Pasadena? Ha, had no chance at that. Staying in Orange County. We're debating whether we're gonna sleep on the parade route or not. Where can I find the celebrities in the OC? Only at Disneyland. Take a right at the Magic Kingdom and ask for Mickey.
  21. Cal and Oregon today look nothing like Cal and Oregon from week 2. They'd both get rolled. UCLA hasn't had a 100% not awful QB since the ND game. Of those games I think Zona beats Iowa, USC beats OSU, and maybe Washington beats NU. Mount Carmel could beat Minnesota. Glenbard North would probably massacre them then. Agree. Maybe even lowly Brother Rice could give them a game.

  23. That guy! I love that Illinois is basically in a no-lose situation. Everyone expects them to get blown out, so they can only impress. People who think Illinois is going to get blown out either just hate Illinois or they don't follow Illinois or both. We were being blown out just once this season and it was the first game of the season. And we ended up losing by just 4. USC is playing well right now, but did anybody watch the USC/UCLA game? USC didn't look all that dominating to me. They looked much better against Arizona St. to me. If there was a Pac Ten vs Big Ten challenge in football, how many games do you think the Big Ten would win of the following? Maybe two or three, like they do in basketball vs the ACC. OSU vs. USC Illinois vs. ASU Mich vs. Oregon State Wisc vs. UCLA Penn State vs. Oregon Iowa vs. Arizona Indiana vs. Wash State Mich state vs. Stanford Purdue vs. California Northwestern vs. Washington Indiana vs. Best High school team in California Seriously? The Big 10 might win every one of those. I'd probably give the Pac 10 2 wins. seriously. let's see, stanford: terrible, california: can't beat anyone, oregon: terrible, ucla: lost to notre dame at home, wash st: coach just got fired for being bad, arizona: bad, washington: average, usc: lost to stanford. i actually think that minnesota could beat stanford, oregon, wash st., and maybe arizona--and minnesota was unbelievably bad. What teams outside of the Big 10 did your league beat this year that were BCS over 500 teams? Cal beat Tenn, Oregon beat....Michigan by how much? This at a quick glance and UCLA beat a top 20 BYU. Yeah but none of those teams had to play mighty Appalachian State.
