  1. Bet he didn't pick Navy. [-X
  2. Any of you Fighting Illini faithful worried that Zook may leave for "greener" pastures? Couch is. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/couch/707125,greg122007.article Hopefully for USC's and Illinois sake, Pete stays for a long time and Zook services won't be required.
  3. Why not just charge the Wrigley Company a naming rights free? Keep the name the same but get some revenue out of it.
  4. Yes, we have established who Oriole "insider" Belkast really is. http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/bal/fan_forum/oriolesbird.jsp
  5. Did he realize he had already been traded according to the "Oriole Insiders"?
  6. Dude, Belkast IS Jim Hendry. It makes perfect sense. He buddy does run the team after all. Which means that Hendry and MacPhail are enjoying a scotch while they slowly work out the Roberts trade that will be completed in February because everyone wants to let the steroid scandal die down a bit. February? Geez, this thread will be 500 pages long by then.
  7. Anybody care to join my class action against Belkast for severely and unnecessarily decreasing workplace productivity among Cubs and O's fans and contributing to a downturn in ecomonic indicators for the Chicago and Baltimore metro areas?
  8. For some reason I'm picturing a guy laughing as he's making this stuff up. Don't be so cynical. I know who the source is. He has a very credible track record. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Mark_Felt%2C_Sr.
  9. Anything new from Woodward and Bernstein (a.k.a "the Oriole insiders")?
  10. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-071219cubsbrite,1,5801635.story Translation. If the Cubs can get Roberts at the right price, they will.
  11. Ah Mr. Smith, I admire your lofty (but naive) ideals when it comes to the workings of our government and it's elected officials. Personally, I think every day focused on steriods is one less day our esteemed official are partaking in pork barrel politics and cutting deals that raise the deficit while bringing pork back to their Districts.
  12. Yep, they'll look good in the back of the closet next to the Nomar and Prior jerseys.
  13. Agree with all except I really don't care if Murton's feelings are hurt. IIRC, a lot of people on this board last year questioned whether Theriot could be a major league SS since he played 2b primarily in the minors and hadn't played a lot of SS since college. He did fine at SS as would DeRosa. Make the trade, I'm tired of waiting for Cub prospects to develop.
  14. Or the players called can all pull a Maguire and state that "they're not here to talk about the past..." Clemens isn't going to give them anything and the hearings will be only a chance for some Congressmen to get some face time in front of the camera at the expense of MLB.... I just wish Congress would tackle the real important issues like Social Security and just leave baseball alone..... They've been trying to "fix" social security for 40 years, a couple days of steroid hearings isn't going to hurt their efforts (or lack thereof). I guess for the players sake, better a McGwire than a Palmeiro. Actually they haven't....There's a reason Social Security is called the third rail in politics...Anyone brave enough to confront it dies a political death. I'm just tired of Congress holding public stunts like these Baseball Hearings for the suppossed good of the people when in reality their blustering in front of the camera won't change a damn thing... So you think if Congress hadn't stepped in before and held hearings that Selig and the Union would have all of sudden strengthened their PEDs policies when they hadn't done anything but look the other way for years? :pig:

  16. Looks like Rog might get the opportunity and the forum to set the record straight. http://www.nypost.com/seven/12192007/sports/yankees/congressmen_cant_wait_to_hear_from_rog_693416.htm
  17. So Roberts dabbling in steroids has no effect on the deal from the Orioles or Cubs perspective according to Oriole "insiders"?

  19. Welcome to the forum Cindy Sandberg. Still in "close touch" with Raffy Palmeiro? Ever retire your skin tight corncob dress?
  20. It's time to liven up this boring offseason with a cage match between Clemens and McNamee - before Congress and under oath. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/19/sports/baseball/19clemens.html?_r=1&ref=sports&oref=slogin
  21. Clemens is a mediocre 36 year old pitcher let go by the Red Sox. Clemens meets McNamee who becomes Clemens "trainer." Clemens career is rejuvenated and he posts back to back 20 win seasons and goes on to win 4 Cy Young awards. Interesting time line. http:// http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3156187 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3153874
  22. Wojo nails it. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=3160231&sportCat=mlb
  23. A statement from himself (not his lawyer) the day the Mitchell report came out would have been a good start instead we get a press release from his agent several days later.
