  1. Mizzou and A&M aren’t leaving the SEC. There’s too much money there for them. Does the Big Ten have a thing against religious schools like the Pac12? To me, TCU fits in there perfectly. I can absolutely see the Pac 12 taking on Texas Tech and OK State. Purple Kansas seems homeless.
  2. I mean there are teams named after sock colors. Not to mention the Philadelphia Phillies (what is that?), Utah Jazz, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, and so on. Plus Washington is playing two seasons as Washington Football Team. Just about any choice people were going to say “uhhh that’s stupid” and then will get used to it within a couple of years. Plus reactionary racists like Rich Lowry would have been angry unless they changed it to some other term punching down on a marginalized minority group. Agree with everything you said. It’s still a dumb name. It sounds like an Arena League football team.
  3. What makes you say that? I have to think that money talks and they will end up bolting for the SEC. The Horns and OU had no comment when asked about the report.
  4. Jru Holiday is an all around great person and I'm happy for him to get a ring, plus I am very happy for Bobby Portis, not just because he's a former Razorback, but also:
  5. It might not hold, but I’d expect it to drive up vaccinations in the short term. If only the school administrators were as bold about attendance. And that is absolutely Dan Mullin. One of those obnoxious golf course rednecks who talks out his ass nonstop. The Gators are the only reason I’d ever cheer for LSU once a year.
  6. It's interesting...I don't remember Dutchvalue giving off douchy vibes like Joc pre-Cubs, but I don't think Joc had any hits in the 2 Dodgers playoff series that hurt even close to as much as Todd's 3 run double in Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS. In fact looking at the numbers he helped the Cubs, going a combined 5-26 (.491 OPS) with 2 extra base hits (both doubles), 1 RBI and a 39% K rate in the 2 series. Todd was actually pretty awesome for the Cubs in 2004 and was starting to play every day until he got hurt for the season in like June. In 2005 he came back and was terrible before being traded in August to the braves. To me the worst thing about Todd was that he was so bad with the Marlins in 03, they had to bring up a 20-year-old Miggy early and he helped them get them the WC and the rest is history. My memory is pretty fuzzy, but it seems like he was blocking some prospect from getting regular playing time while he was with the Cubs. Side note: Can you imagine any team trading a 25 year old with Miggy skills? I knew it was likely a bad trade, but wow.
  7. Better ex-Dodger Cubs career, Joc Pedersom or Todd Hollandsworth? I think I disliked Joc more.
  8. Is this because he got booed mercilessly as he was announcing every draft pick the day before? I guess the message was received? Is there a pro sports commissioner that doesn’t get booed at every draft? I mean, Roger Goodell deserves it but they even booed David Stern.
  9. Sounds like Willy wants out. Or wants someone else (Rizzo?) out Wait, I'm confused. It was my understanding that Rossie was hired because he could communicate with the players and get the most out of them.
  10. I laughed way too hard at this.
  11. Well, considering he singled out Javy for playing hard but did not mention KB or Rizzo, it seems pretty clear that he’s calling them out for starters.
  12. Doesn’t context matter though? That 2017 team had just won the WS and still felt like they could go on a run. This team has regressed ever since then, doesn’t hit well or pitch well. (or apparently defend well either). Yeah of course context matters a ton, thats kind of what I was trying to say in parenthesis Oh, I know. I was mostly being rhetorical. It’s pretty amazing that nearly the same situation a few years ago feels completely hopeless now.

  14. Gotta admit, as shitty of a situation as this Cubs team is in, it almost makes it that much sweeter to blast the Cardinals. If only they could follow up 1-12 stretch by sweeping these jerkoffs.
  15. Man, I loved some Mendy Alcantara back then and really wanted him to be at minimum a serviceable regular at 2B. Also, I was convinced Felix Pie was going to be Kenny Lofton.
  16. The beginning of 2014 if you exclude the minors. At least the last two months of 2014 you had Baez and Soler getting called up. If you include the minors, then it goes back earlier since we drafted KB in 2013 and he destroyed the ball right from the start. Yep. Even before 2013 there was a blind optimism that Theo would usher in "waves and waves". I don't think even the most optimistic of us has the same feelings now. This has the feel like the end of 2005 when we knew things were about to crater.
  17. Any innings of Cubs baseball I watch these days is purely hate watching.
  18. A live look at the Cubs org: Serious question…if the fire was so intense that the flames are literally on the ocean surface, what’s the point of shooting more water at it?
  19. If the Ricketts really are like the Tribune (baseball-wise anyway) they’ll fire sale but pay Javy to fill the seats while the Cubs lose 90+ games a season.
