  1. Jairus Byrd out for the season for Saints after tearing his meniscus in practice. The hits just keep on coming. His backup, Rafael Bush is a very solid S, but damn, this season is starting to feel like the 2012 bountygate year. Nothing good is happening.
  2. I like Ernie Johnson, but a play by play guy he is not. What made it even worse was that Ripken and Darling were complete stiffs leaving EJ hanging the whole game with dead air. On that note, it becomes more and more apparent how good Len and JD are.
  3. The Royals winning would be the next best thing to the Cubs winning just for the angst it would cause here. This here. Not saying that I would want to construct a team of scrappy gritty guys, but if this is who you've got I don't blame the manager for going small ball. You can't go all Earl Weaver with that roster.
  4. Apparantly Ole Miss is about to get investigated by the NCAA for recruiting violations for both football during the Orgeron and Nutt years and yes, women's basketball. Not sure I've ever heard that one before. I heard this on the radio and did a Google search to post here. That search yielded an article about it, but also this nugget from a few years back. Still gets me every time.
  5. Funny thing is that folks down here would probably buy the plane ticket for Les to go elsewhere. Mullen was maybe one subpar season away from losing his job. Gundy? Meh. I just dislike his whole act. Just reminds me too much of Houston Nutt, a rah rah guy who actually is a buffoon. Perhaps that's an overstatement, but pass. If I were hiring a coach I would back up the Brinks truck for Briles.
  6. Patterson to me is one of the best coaching candidates in the country, and apparently the high school coaches in Texas love him from what I understand. He seems to be really happy in Ft Worth, as is his wife, and TCU just spent a bajillion dollars on new facilities for him. Really, besides NFL guys, who are the top candidates? I say Patterson. Briles?
  7. Pirates fans are not a tenth as annoying as Brewers or Reds fans. Since the Cubs are seldomly in the race, I usually pick a team to root for against the Cardinals. Lately it's been the Pirates. Plus I want to see McCutchen deep into the playoffs.
  8. I'll take in this order: Pirates O's Royals Tigers A's Giants or Nats or Angels Dodgers That other team When in doubt, I pull for the longest suffering great baseball towns.
  9. Horseshit. They backed away from the run when they were dominating the line, then became utterly predictable on 3rd and long. This is on the OC. We protectected our week secondary for 3 quarters and then we put them on an island. This message brought to you by Jameson and Jim Beam.
  10. Hello vodka my old friend. I've come to talk to you again.
  11. If we lose this I'm going to drink myself into the stone ages.
  12. Switching philosophies from finess to power football, mammoth lineman are now sophomores and the QB isn't playing with a taped together shoulder. Win or lose, at least we have clearly gotten the stink of the last 2 years off of us.
  13. Ok Hogs. You get the second half kickoff. Run the ball down their effing throats. BREAK THEM!
  14. We might have a game in the Jerry Dome. Pig Sooie biches.
  15. OK St looks like a highway construction barrell at night. TTU looks like Louis L'Amour threw up on their road uni's.
  16. Has there been any Theo speak about Javy's struggles? IIRC, doesn't he give a State of the Union type presser at the end of each season?
  17. Talk about a clash of styles. What gives me hope is that Rice seemed to be very effective running the ball against you guys, and Ark has one of the best rushing attacks in CFB. B Allen has looked like a different QB this year. What worries me on D is our inability to defend the screen pass, which aTm should do all day. Our O line should dominate, and some 8 minute drives in the first half could tell us if this will be a game or not. Btw, both teams are in the top 5 in scoring offense this year, expected for aTm but a surprise for a running team like the Hogs. Yes, a fun game to watch.
  18. Cubs can kick the Cards down to a one game Wild Card vs the Giants. This is my main rooting interest.
  19. The Saints will name the score against Dallas, steamroll Tampa, go into the bye week at 3-2 and all will be well.
  20. So SC is very good or the elite team mentioned that aTm beat? Not really buying either yet. I would put Va Tech over OSU and BC over So Cal as at least as impressive wins.
  21. I tend to think aTm will hang 40 on the Hog D, but there are reasons for optimism. Even when they were pitiful last year, the Hogs held their own against the Aggies. Ark is very confident after having steamrolled a couple of decent teams the last 2 weeks with a much improved passing game and a near unstoppable run game. The Aggies have a sketchy run defense and a few long drives from Ark can keep the ball away from aTm. The Aggies are still an unknown. Sure, they blasted SC, but who knows what SC really is. Lamar and Sam Houston or whatever were not good prep for our mammoth O-line. I have no idea how this game goes, but I do see how Ark can pull this off.
  22. OMC, I think you were also in the Dome yesterday, but the sentiment in Sec 637 was that this was one of the most unfulfilling wins in the Payton w era. Defensively, we couldn't get off the field on 3rd down and offensively, Drew still is not in sync. Part of me wonders if we just need time to gel (remember that Drew missed a ton of preseason). Then, part of me thinks that with the renewed emphasis on the run, 20-9 is the type of score we should get used to seeing. And Colston has really gotten old really fast.
  23. I'm currently in NOLA and there are some pissed off people wearing purple and gold. I know. It's fantastic. LSU fans know two speeds. Either they're obnoxious winners or obnoxious losers. I fully expect some drunken fights tonight.
  24. At the start of the 4th Quarter, LSU fans are flowing out of the stadium. They are the worst, just awful. The worst job in America tonight is a bartender in BR or NOLA dealing with those jackasses.
  25. Fournette is a beast, but I've been screaming this all season. Bold prediction: Bama and LSU go 0-4 vs Ole Miss and MS State. In fact, LSU and Bama finish no higher than 4th in the SECW.
