  1. I'm not sure why, but I just have a good feeling about this game. I think the defense and offense has been holding back since the Giants game (considering that was really the last game that seriously threatened their #1 seed), and they've been looking towards this first playoff game ever since last year. I think the defense from the first half of the season shows up again, the offense gets into a rhythm again, and Rex gets to play with a lead, where he's most dangerous. Bears 24, Seahawks 6. Other games: Colts 31, Ravens 27 Chargers 27, Patriots 14 Eagles 38, Saints 35
  2. There doesn't have to be a system designed for Boise State. It's just all I've heard and read today on major sports sites that if there were an 8 team playoff like there should be, Boise State would have a shot. This isn't true. Also, as someone mentioned earlier, an 8-team playoff that includes Big 6 conference winners doesn't necessarily exclude a team outside the Big 6 conferences, as Utah would have qualified in that year.
  3. A 16-team field would be absurd. There is no reason why teams that couldn't finish in the top 10 need to get a 2nd or 3rd chance to contend for the title. It's not feasible at all, since it would mean the end of the bowl system and suck money out of the system. There's no logical reason, but the teams from Big 6 conferences not about to go without an automatic bid to any playoff that exists. Sure, it sucks, but an 8 team playoff wouldn't include any Boise State. A 10 or 12 team playoff would, likely, but then you're already stuck with a 4th week of playoff games, which is no different from a 16-team playoff, and then every conference could be represented.
  4. I've heard too much already of "If there was an 8-team playoff, Boise State would have gotten its deserving chance." (not just from here, I mean from sports pundits and radio hosts and weblogs and everything) Really? Think about it for a minute. The "Big Six" conferences would never, ever allow a playoff that they didn't get an automatic spot in. That puts Ohio State, Florida, Louisville, USC, Oklahoma, and Wake Forest in. After that, they'd likely choose from the top available BCS teams. That puts Michigan and LSU in, easy. Boise State is still left out in the cold. Would Boise State have a valid argument? Absolutely. But they'd have to argue that either they were more deserving than LSU, or more deserving than any ACC team. I'm not sure either of those arguments fly before any NCAA playoff committee. Fair? Depends on your definition. So, essentially, to "appease" all possible angles, you'd need a 16-team playoff. Which is completely feasible, if there wasn't a month long break in between the season and the playoffs.
  5. Yes, in the season, including over teams in these playoffs. The 4 games that went "as expected" are not much of a meaningful trend. Every playoff season includes upsets. I would even go so far as to say the Seahawks win over the Cowboys was an upset, as the line was 2.5 and home field counts for 3. That and the Seahawks were just not statistically a good team. Which doesn't mean a whole lot compared to the points on the scoreboard and the fact they're still playing this week.
  6. You've won already. You have more points already (385) than everybody except for the second place guy (who I assume to be bukie) can get overall. Both of you picked Ohio State to win so he can't gain on you. I can only get one more point which would put me at 375. oh, I was thinking you get negative points for the games you get wrong. Guess I should've looked at the rules. Nope, it actually all came down to the Southern Miss/Ohio game...freaking MAC :)
  7. What I want to see happen: Colts over Chiefs Jets over Pats Seahawks over Cowboys Eagles over Giants Colts over Ravens Chargers over Jets Bears over Seahawks Saints over Eagles Colts over Chargers Bears over Saints Bears over Colts What I think will actually happen: Colts over Chiefs Pats over Jets Cowboys over Seahawks Eagles over Giants Ravens over Colts Chargers over Pats Bears over Cowboys Eagles over Saints Chargers over Ravens Eagles over Bears Chargers over Eagles
  8. I think we have a decent shot at getting every possible combination here, so maybe someone will actually be right.
  9. Colts Seahawks Jets Eagles
  10. I think it's supposed to be "Hear! Hear!", but technically that only works with something that's being said, so I guess it really doesn't matter. :)
  11. Bah, my wife is not happy right now. Quinn didn't end things too well, maybe he'll fall to his favorite hometown team (Cleveland). He seems like a good kid, hope things work out for him. Hopefully Samardzija will give up this football stuff and go baseball full-time too.
  12. Was that actual defense?
  13. That was a nice catch. Wonder if the LSU DBs didn't even see the ball, as only the receiver made a play on the ball.
  14. You think Weis has no faith in the defense?
  15. So....the crowd sounds a bit partisan... :) Well, go Brady Quinn and Jeff Samardzija.
  16. A win tonight and all of a sudden the Bulls have the best record in the Eastern Conference. Big week this week.
  17. My optimistic thought is that hopefully the Bears got all the suck cleaned out of them tonight.
  18. Well, this is a week to work on formations, try some plays, but they really aren't playing well regardless.
  19. Are you kidding me? You are basing this off of one game. Look at the stats on the year. 10 of the 16 AFC teams had records of 4-0 or 3-1 against the NFC this year and two others had records of 2-2. Only 1 NFC team (Dallas) had a record over .500 against the AFC this year while 8 had records of 2-2. New Orleans went 1-3. So did Philly and the NY Giants. Chicago and Seattle both went 2-2. That means the six NFC playoff teams went 8-14 against the AFC. The six AFC playoff teams? Try 21-3. The Bears played even with New England at New England with Rex having an awful game. I don't think it's a stretch to say the Bears are right there with Indy and New England. The Jets and Chiefs are really not that good. New Orleans and Philly have certainly played better than both of them over the course of this year. Seattle and Dallas are right there with them. But who else? Denver? No better than any 8-8/7-8 NFC team. Cincy and Jacksonville? Most inconsistent teams in the league. Tennessee? Not a very good team, just a very fortunate team.
  20. Manning and Manning are really dragging down the whole defense right now.
  21. BTW, anyone who saw that game and still thinks the best of the NFC would be middle-of-the-pack in the AFC is simply blind. San Diego and Baltimore are certainly favorites, but I would put Chicago certainly right there with Indy and New England, and I think for sure that Philly and New Orleans are better than any of the rest of the AFC, and possibly Seattle as well.
  22. And Denver blows their playoff spot at home to SF to end their season. AFC Playoffs: Kansas City at Indianapolis NY Jets at New England
  23. Wasn't pretty, but it was good. Kansas City gets their miracle.
  24. Indy wraps up the 3 seed, barely. Just waiting on the Denver result to see whether the matchups are Indy-NY Jets and New England-Denver, or Indy-KC and New England-NY Jets.
  25. And...Lemon throws it into the 10th row on the last play of the game.
