They were more concerned about Fukudome on base than the batter. No chance to steal. Bunt for what, so Lieber could drive him in? Lieber batted because the Cubs are out of extra players.

New proposed rule: You get 3 pickoff chances per AB. After that, it's a balk.

I'd use Lieber a good 4-5 innings if the Cubs continue to not score. After that, go with Wednesday's proposed starter, since there's a day off anyway.

Technically, only one of the errors really affected the score. Both Cedeno's and Ramirez's throws were on IF singles, so if anything they both just made the runs score faster. Lilly was awful, though, especially with the walks, given a 7-run lead.

For a lot of players. But given Cedeno's makeup and skills, they probably aren't the best indicator for him. I addressed this a few pages ago. I would argue 500 AAA ABs in 2007 are a better indicator than 70 MLB ABs. I also addressed this a few pages ago. That's a funny way to skew the stats. What skewing? Those are his 2007 stats. No funny business involved.

I'd say push the lead to four to prevent Marmol from having to throw, but...let's push the lead to 10, because if Marmol isn't throwing, Howry will.

Decent, perhaps. The major obstacle to that at this point is that he's likely 9th in the pecking order for a starter this year, behind the current rotation and Lieber, Marshall and Gallagher. Basically, I don't see it happening this year, barring some huge transactions involving 3 of the guys above him.

.359/.422/.537 in triple A last year ignorance ](*,) Those are great #'s for the Iowa Cubs. However, I'm more interested in what he's continued to prove at the major league level - he sucks - year after year after year. He's played in the majors for one year. ONE. YEAR. He's got nothing more to prove in the minors, he has no options left, and the Cubs have nobody obviously better on the team at SS. There's no reason he can't at least get a shot this year, at least in some kind of platoon option with Theriot.

I thought I'd always heard he was a good defender? He gets to a lot of balls, and makes a lot of tough plays. Tendency to botch the easy ones, though.

I know, I'm almost completely satisfied with every starting position player on this team. Cept CF and SS...and sometimes RF In before the edit, Fuku-hater. :)
